Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits
4 Star Review  GameZone - Jun 20, 2003

Lord Kharg is impetuous but a warrior of resolution. Some, like his mother, try to protect him for reasons unknown to the prince of a deposed monarchy. Then there is Maru, self-proclaimed king of Chaos Forest. A young man who bears many of the marks of the wonderful and rich anime artwork has been left alone, and yet these two unlikely individuals find themselves paired up to fight a battle in the early stages of Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits, a PlayStation 2 release from SCEA and Cattle Call. This is a game that is beautiful to look at, and it combines elements of turn-based combat and role play.

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (ps2)
3 Star Review  GameSpy - Jun 28, 2003

My dream has come to pass. In the 16-bit days, I'd sit idly with the import coverage in EGM splayed open on my lap and sigh, whine and cry over all of the RPGs that simply didn't stand a chance to make it to the United States. No matter how good a game looked, no matter how many copies another company's RPG might have sold -- there was no hope. Hell, in those days, it was unlikely that even the most popular series would make it over intact; we missed a Final Fantasy and both Dragon Warrior games. With a few notable exceptions, the PS and PS2 have been an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of RPGs, and it's almost overwhelming. It's not all about triple-A titles anymore. You can see where I'm going with this, I'm sure.

4 Star Review  IGN.com - Jun 24, 2003

It's been an amazing year for RPG videogames in 2003. From .hack to Xenosaga, Dark Cloud 2 to Dragon Quarter, the PlayStation 2's long list of new and exciting titles has only been matched by the sheer number of quality sequels to balance them out. And with names like Final Fantasy X-2, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, and a pair of PS2 EverQuest installments slated for the end of the year, an endless supply of hit points and magic spells appear to be just what the wizard ordered. Let's face it, 2003 has been an RPG lover's dream --and we're only now approaching the end of June.

5 Star Review   By member Freakncagedotcom - Aug 14, 2003

Strengths: One of the best Role playing games on PlayStation 2.

Weakness: Last guide was kinda hard, if thats a negative?

Great game, Took me about 4-5 days to beat it at a total of 30+ hours. Not extremely long but not too short either. Its a great rpg and definately a must rent at least. You get to play both an evil group and a good group each containing 5 party members. Both trying to gather all five spirit stones in order to obtain the ultimate power.
