MechAssault
5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 18, 2002

For a very long time, men have dreamed about robots and piloting them. Over the decades, there have been many comics, anime, and even games made on this fascination. Some of these games take the route of being more of a simulation game, getting each part right making sure their mech is not too heavy, while others have more action elements to them. MechWarrior is similar to the first description. Players can build their own mech to their hearts desire. Microsoft wanted to make a game for their Xbox console, but they wanted it to be similar to MechWarrior but have it more action based; thus MechAssault was born.

MechAssault
4 Star Review  GameSpy - Nov 8, 2002

Last year it was all about survival-horror knock-offs. A few years back, every major video game company invested time and effort into cute, furry, and forgettable mascots and placed them in ill-conceived platformers. And this year? It's the year of the mech. You can't wander into your local gaming emporium without falling over a dozen stacked copies of Robotech: Battlecry.

MechAssault
4.5 Star Review  IGN.com - Feb 20, 2003

The Corvus is small and fast like it's brand new buddy the Raven but plays an entirely different offensive game. The autocannon and twin pulse lasers are the only weapons you'll have, so the Corvus can end up feeling like a stripped down Cougar since it doesn't have the quad missile launcher. The advantage is that the Corvus comes with jump jets and target jamming, the latter of which is super powered to last longer.

MechAssault
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Oct 26, 2010

MechAssault is a 3rd-person action/shooter, where you control a 40 foot tall battle tank. The environment is both highly destructible and can be used as weapons. ... PROS: (1) More cohesive storyline than previous installments. (2) Excellent graphics and environments. (3) Environments are fully destructible. (4) Split scree, system link and Xbox Live multiplayer options. (5) Extremely detailed mech models. ... CONS: (1) Controls and certain game aspects are"dumbed dow" from the PC version. (2) Single player campaign is a tad on the short side. (3) Tends to slow down when the action gets intense, even in single player mode.

If you are a fan of the series you must get this game. If you are not familiar with the series - you still must get this game. Simply outstanding and the best XBox live has.

5 Star Review   By member bigtv - Jun 9, 2003

Strengths: Single player campaign, graphics, Xbox Live play, downloadable content.

Weakness: In the Xbox Live games someone will occasionally get bumped out making the teams uneven, but it rarely effects the game.

This game is great fun for people who like to see 30 story buildings drop on helpless infratry or who like to see people get smashed into the dust. How can you not like dropping a bridge on a mech and hearing the guy scream as the bridge piles on top of him.

5 Star Review   By member BWOOD - Mar 20, 2003

Strengths: big mechs distroying everything

Weakness: can get a little repetitive

The further you get in the game, the bigger and better mechs arrive. And it has great graphics, and good phisics, and distruction. You can blow up just about everything.

Strengths: Every Single thing.

Weakness: Nothing.

Mech Assault is another quality game for the Xbox. Its single player is ok but when you play online you see the true purpose of this game.To play with real people. There are alot of mechs to chose from and you can download new maps and mechs on Live.I enjoy playing on Xbox Live the most.If you see Raker191 thats me.The graphics on this game are awesome. And when I'm playing on Live there is virtually no lag. Many Ps2 fanboys and Xbox haters say that Xbox has not enough games but I feel there idiots.Unlike them I don't need dozens of crappy games to keep me happy. All I need are a few quality games like Halo,Ghost Recon and Mech Assault and Xbox live to keep things fresh.Mech Assault is one kick a$$ game with great potential with Xbox Live.A must have.
