Need for Speed Underground 2
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 27, 2004

When it came to illegal street racing, nothing came close to rivaling Rockstar’s Midnight Club series because, let’s face it, the series perfectly depicted the illegal street racing scene while keeping it fun yet realistic. Then Need for Speed Underground came out and gave Midnight Club II a run for its money with its addictive racing, car modification and beautiful visuals. This year is different, though; games like Juiced and Street Racing Syndicate have come to take the crown away from both Rockstar and Electronic Arts. So what’s EA to do? How about releasing Need for Speed Underground 2, a sequel that just so happens to take all the good things about the series and blow us away with something new.

Need for Speed Underground 2
4.5 Star Review  GameSpy - Nov 17, 2004

EA's second release in the subgenre in just over two months is another solid entry, even if it's not quite as polished as its predecessor. This may disappoint some fans of last year's best-selling title, initially. But gamers who give Need for Speed Underground 2 a solid chance will once again be entranced. As before, the game performs where it counts; yes, racing in Need for Speed Underground 2 feels excellent.

Need For Speed Underground 2
4 Star Review   By member Tyga24 - Mar 28, 2006

Strengths: Excellent graphics, Online mode, introduction of SUV's into the series

Weakness: No vehicle damage, the driving between races can become tiresome after some time in the story mode

I enjoyed the original Need for Speed Underground and was looking forward to the improvements that would be made to NFSU2. I liked the idea of the open-ended environment and the shops and events spread around. The tuning options are comprehensive and are easy enough for people new to the series to pick up. The story mode is solid and has a nice overall lenghth. All of the race types from MFSU return with the addition of URL races, which have you driving against competitors on a race track similar to other simulation racing games. Overall, I enjoyed this game and would recommend it to fans of the import tuning scene and arcade racing games.

NFSU 2
3 Star Review   By member ssimp12626 - Dec 5, 2005

Strengths: good graphics, online play

Need for speed underground 2 has a bigger free roaming city to explore and race in than the previous NFSU. They have added several new game modes to the already existing Circuit, Drift, and Drag. There are more than 150 racing events that span across 180 tracks. You can fully customize your ride.

This is the Car Tuning game to buy
4 Star Review   By member shipwreck1 - Jul 29, 2005

Strengths: Lots of customization, pretty graphics, long story mode

Weakness: No vehicle damage

Need For Speed: Underground 2 is the car tuner's dream game. There are so many options for customizing your car that it's mind blowing. The game allows for quite a bit of exploration while you drive around the city looking for people to race. The graphics are top-notch and there is a pretty good sense of speed. The handling of the cars is good, but could have been tweaked a little bit. Overall, this is a very fun racing game with an insane amount of customizable parts.

Need for speed underground 2
4 Star Review   By member jjz203 - Jul 18, 2005

Strengths: One of the most fun import tuner racing games out. Graphically superior to other import tuner racing games. You can get lost in the tuning and modding of your car.

Weakness: Not many cars to choose from. Driving around open city can become boring. No car damage.

I bought this game recently after debating whether this or Midnight Club 3. I chose NFSU2 because of the graphical prowess of the game. This game is a lot more realistic looking than MC3 that's for sure. It's also just as fun arcade style racing action. I would have liked to see car damage for once but oh well, you can drive as reckless as you want. Overall, highly recommended arcade racing game for those who are into the import tuning scene. This is about as close to the movies as you can get.

NFSU2
4 Star Review   By member Alive741 - Jul 8, 2005

Strengths: Graphics, Gameplay

Weakness: None, Really

This game is REALLY good. I'm not a racing fan either, however this game is REALLY REALLY good. You can customize your own car, then race it against others, or computer players. The graphics are AWESOME, and driving feels "right" with the xbox controller. Really really good controls. BUY THIS ONE.

4 Star Review   By member nick_059 - Apr 28, 2005

Strengths: Great graphics. A real sense of speed compared to other racing games. The new free ride mode is a blast. Thousands of upgrades. Pretty long story mode. This time around they added SUV's!

Weakness: The controls could be a little bit tighter. More racing types would have been a plus.

I recieved this game for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. The new free ride mode is great. I really liked the idea of driving around the different parts of the city to find hidden races and shops to buy upgrades. The addition of more racing types was a bonus, but they still could have used more. This game is very long for a racing game and was well worth the time put in. However, there are no unlockables that you recieve for completing the game. There are many more things I could say about this game that I liked, but will not go into detail. If you liked the first Need for Speed: Underground, then you will absolutely love this one. If you did not like it, I would suggest you try it out anyways.
