NBA STREET V3
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Mar 11, 2005

Is NBA Street V3 the ultimate arcade basketball game? That's the question everyone's looking to have answered. It's at this point (the third chapter) in any game series where they solidify the position of champion, or show that they didn't have as much steam as we all thought. EA Sports hasn't been one to disappoint us though. Let's see if they can keep the tradition. At first glance the series doesn't appear to have changed much. Actually that might not be the best way to describe it – it's clear from the screens alone that the graphics have been upgraded. But the gameplay – that doesn't seem to be changed at all.

Kevin Garnett must own stock in EA. Sure, he's one of the best players in the NBA, but even The Big Ticket has never dominated a court like he does in NBA Street V3. First you might see KG go off the heezay, footay or even off the bootay, next thing you know he's taking off from beyond the free throw line, rolling the rock along his arms Globetrotter-style, alley ooping the ball to himself -- while already in the air -- then finishing the dunk off with a spin. The letters KG appear autograph style on the screen, and Garnett even gives you a little dance to rub it in.

Strengths: Graphics, soundtrack, new Trick Stick, career mode, online play, Beastie Boys as playable ballers.

Weakness: Slam dunk contest could have been done better, can't change NBA rosters (set in stone).

I thought it'd be tough for EA to top their excellent NBA Street 2, but they certainly have done so with Volume 3. The graphics have been taken a notch up and look fantastic. I love the look of this game. The soundtrack is pretty good too, featuring a lot of tracks from real artists. I like the inclusion of the Trick Stick because it's a lot easier to pull off moves and combos then it has been in the past Street games. The career mode has seen perhaps the greatest improvement. There's a lot of different variety in the type of games and leagues you can enter. But what I love the most is the storyline aspects of the game when you're forced to choose between cutting Chris Webber and recruiting a new player like Kevin Garnett. It really adds a lot of replayability to the game since it doesn't just feel like you're repeating the same games over and over again. EA added a Slam Dunk contest but it feels somewhat half baked. Also, there's an online mode where you can create a separate character and build him up over time versus other real life opponents. Overall, I'm really glad EA spent the time and resources to make a great sequel to NBA Street.

Strengths: Graphics: gameplay

Weakness: Lack of realism. If you are looking for that kind of thing.

Volume 3 takes off where Volume 2 left us but with improved graphics and a fresh dunk contest. As usual the game revolves around the over-the-top playground moves. All teams are featured including many stars from the past including Wilt, Isiah and Kareem.

Strengths: Very easy to play, pick up and you just don't want to put it down.

Weakness: great but limited soundtrack

This game is just great. It evovles the Nba street series to the next level. The character creation rivals anything the smackdown games have, and easily tops gta. The slam dunk contest is great. Just you don't want to put it down once you start playing.

Strengths: very good gameplay, as good (if not better) than the previous two versions of this game. Play for hours on end against your friends or the computer. Slam Dunk contests is great addition!

Weakness: A lot funner against friends than the computer, which can get old after a little while. Cant double up on your gamebreakers like in previous versions. Will be great..until the next version comes out!

Create a player is a fun way to learn the moves, then invite your friends over to school them. Try off the heazee and all the moves. Slam dunk contest is a great addition, however, (like the real slam dunk contest) after a while it can get old. This is a great game and an improvement over the previous versions with the additions of the slam dunk contest, new players, new moves, better and smoother graphics. Only problem is... i am losing too much sleep playing this. It is well worth it when my friends come over and we play for hours on end. Only drawback to this game is that i wont play it when a new version will come out (which it will).

Strengths: length of game

Weakness: repetitive

Very good basketball game. Graphics improved a lot from previous games and the gameplay is even more fun. The game gets a little repetitive but it's still fun. The dunk contest and customization makes the game worthwhile.
