Madden NFL 2005
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Aug 17, 2004

It is hard to believe that the Madden Franchise is already fifteen years old, and that every year EA Sports releases an update version upon the gaming world. Each year Tiburon manages to impress me with all of the new gameplay updates, graphics, and new features in their newest game. This year it is no different, Madden 2005 has tons of new features that will keep you up late at night, trying to get that “last touchdown” before sleep finally consumes you. Needless to say, you should pick up this latest iteration of Madden 2005 as soon as you can, because your PlayStation 2 will thank you for it.

Madden NFL 2005 (ps2)
5 Star Review  GameSpy - Aug 6, 2004

There's a battle afoot on the gridiron, as two fiercesome competitors fight it out in the trenches. No, they're not trying to get precious yards for a first down or a hail mary into the end zone, they're duking it out to get your hard earned money. ESPN NFL 2K5 stepped up to the line first, releasing their game two weeks before originally scheduled date, and with a low price that's hard for most people to resist. On the other side of the line of scrimmage is Madden NFL 2005, the latest entry in the most popular sports franchise in the history of video games. So who deserves to pocket your cash? At the end of four grueling quarters, Madden NFL 2005 walks off the field as the winner, thanks to some of the best gameplay ever seen in a football game.

In order to celebrate 15 years of football glory, EA has blessed PlayStation gamers with Madden NFL 2005 Collector's Edition. Madden NFL 2005 (ps2)
5 Star Review  IGN.com - Aug 5, 2004

In one year, EA Sports has done more to right the wrongs of Madden's gameplay past than in any time in the illustrious series' history. Play Madden NFL 2005 once, and you might notice the big hits and how aware all of the defenders are on the gridiron. Play it five times and you'll realize how defensive hot routes completely even out the field and that for the first time, maybe in any football game, it's not just fun, it's actually meaningful to D-up. Play the game 20 times and you really start to appreciate the brilliance behind the All-Madden engine. 2005's AI is by far the slickest, smartest AI of any football game ever put to polygons, period, and the main reason why Madden is once again the single most dominant force in sports video games. The game might lack the presentation, the visual eye candy of ESPN 2K5, but more than makes up for it in the one area that counts the most, the reason you buy a game... gameplay.

Strengths: + Great game, just like the previous games.

If you like the other madden games, you'll certainly won't be disappointed with this one. In my opinion this is the best NFL video game released as of its august 2004 release. This love or hate game. If your into the sports genre be sure to pick this up to add to your collection. If you're not much of a sports/football enthusiast you may want to pass -- but that's and obvious disclaimer. The hit stick is a cool addition in this version. Great game. =)

Strengths: Gameplay, graphics, controls.

Weakness: none.

Madden is the bread and butter of EA sports. This year proved to be no different. As usual the graphics, gameplay and controls are top notch. The practice mode keeps you hooked on the game for months and months. A true must for football fans.

The best football game yet. Everything about the game is great, including the graphics, gameplay, and replay value. The franchise mode is expanded and the new hit stick is extremely fun. This is a definite must have for sports fans.

Strengths: This game has a teriffic franchise mode including having to worry about player's feelings and if they get mad at you, you had better offer them a ton of money or trade them.

Weakness: this game has NO weaknesses

If you are considering buying this game, it is a must. If you are not considering buying this game, it is still a must. It is another great addition to the Madden collection. With an all new kicking meter and camera view and literal heart thumping action as the game is on the line and you are bringing out your kicker to either win or tie the game, you cannot go wrong with this game.
