Legends of Wrestling II
3.5 Star Review  GameZone - Dec 16, 2002

Wrestling has come a long way since its early days when stories and plots were just beginning to dramatize the fights and build them up into showdowns of epic proportions. There was a time when the build-up was more exciting to watch than the actual confrontation and the colorful participants were so ludicrously entertaining to watch. As a tribute to these wrestlers, Legends of Wrestling II brings them back in action, however, without the exciting drama. There are modes aplenty once again, the more notably (and somewhat improved) Career mode--taking your wrestler (original creation or any of the available wrestlers) and your promoter through five regions in order to win the World Belt while adding just a light dash of barely-there drama.

Old school guys with kinda old school engine
3 Star Review   By member evophile - Oct 23, 2005

Strengths: All your favorite guys from when you were a kid, and a bunch of guys you cant get in a WWE game anymore.

Weakness: Graphics kinda old, gameplay can get clunky.

If you've ever watcher wrestling in the 70s or 80s you'll get a lot out of this game. If you've only seen current wrestling you still will too. Legends of Wrestling is a great concept. Take a bunch of old, classic superstars and give them a game where you can live out your dream matches. Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Andre the Giant and Roddy Piper are just a few of the legends you'll find in this game. You get the standard match types of singles and tag. There are also 3 or 4 way matches, a 30 man rumble and the always fun and dangerous ladder and steel cage matches. The graphics aren't the greatest and are basically evolved versions from Acclaim's old WWE(F) games. It is cartoony on purpose, which is kind of odd because you'd think they'd try to make it realistic. The graphics aren't bad, but just standard. Also the control can get kind of muddy at times, as it seems the wrestlers don't always react right when you want them too, and in this game timing counts for a lot when you're trying to piledrive someone. To do moves is exactly the same as the old Acclaim WWE(F) games, which is kind of disappointing as it ages the game inappropriately. On the good side of things, the career mode is quite fun as it starts you off from when your legend is a no name and you have to go out and make a name for yourself and become said "legend". You start out in a small territory and have to fullfill certain requirements to make your promoter and the fans happy. Once you do those you move up and do the same again, ultimately of course becoming the champion of the biggest ferderation on earth. All in all if you're at all nostalgic and appreciate old wrestling you may get a kick out of this. Those looking for a quick play may be happier with some other wrestling series, however definately pick this up if you find it for a good price.
