Burnout 2: Point of Impact
4 Star Review  GameZone - Oct 21, 2002

A little more than a year ago, Acclaim released what is arguably one of the most exhilarating racing games ever made: Burnout. Using big, traffic-filled city streets and The Fast and the Furious-style cars, Burnout quickly raced its way into many gamers' stockings. Never before had a game made you feel as though you were really engaged in a street race. Not one to wait a while to release a sequel to a successful game, Acclaim immediately hired Burnout's developer (Criterion Games) to work on the next title in the series. Thanks to Acclaim's smart business move, Burnout 2: Point of Impact has arrived in plenty of time for the Christmas shopping season, and is bigger, faster and [nearly] better than the original.

4.5 Star Review  GameSpy - Nov 16, 2002

Sometimes a game comes out of nowhere and grips those who play it with such an addiction that their daily lives change forever. I'll play for just a few minutes, they say to themselves, and 12 hours later they're still playing. They may have just lost their job, spouse, and kids, but they don't care. Burnout 2 is such a game and should carry a warning label that reads: WARNING: Will wreck your life.

Burnout 2 - a glance from the future
5 Star Review   By member Pookymeister - Aug 22, 2005

Strengths: *It's a unique racing game. In order to win, you gotta make the other racers crash!* - *Provides progressive scan support for those with HDTVs*

Weakness: *Nothing wrong with the game itself, just the current choices*

Burnout is a GREAT concept. It's a racing game where you have to take your opponents out to win. The crashes are outrageous in most cases. Reality was not a requirement in the development of this game. But that is a good thing. Burnout 2 also introduced the CRASH mode. Make your car CRASH and cause as much damage as possible. This mode is a Riot! I love games that support progressive scan, as they look so much better on my TV. Props to Criterion Games for including that. Finally, if you like this game, DEFINITELY buy the next one in the series, Burnout 3(i bought 3 first, and then bought 2).
