Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Oct 30, 2006

For many years now people have been fascinated with the covert operatives and the various tasks that they have to accomplish. This can be seen in various media outlets such as movies, TV shows, games, books, and much more. One aspect that often gets overlooked, but definitely has people’s attention, is double agents. The first two seasons of Alias were considered its best due to the double agent aspect of the show. Many people like the first XXX movie because of Vin Diesel’s double agent spin on things. People really enjoy all of the hardships that these people have to do, and seeing how they do everything and keep their cover is just intriguing.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent (XB360)
4 Star Review   By member Metropolis - Apr 29, 2007

Strengths: Graphics, Choose your path, Game length

This was my first splinter cell that I played. I really liked the aspect of choosing your own path. You have the choice to complete certain objectives and your choices affect how the game is played. The multi player games are fun too. You can either play as spies or upsilons. There is also video tutorials on how to play, controls, etc. This way, you come into the game knowing how to play. The only negative that I can think of is that when you continue your game, it loads you last save and not the last mission. Say your last save was the previous mission right before completing it and you stop playing. When you play again, it will load that save instead of the next mission.

Splinter Cell DA - a worthy next gen addition
4 Star Review   By member fates - Mar 26, 2007

Strengths: graphics, sound, atmosphere, gameplay, and of course great stealth action!

Weakness: multiplayer a bit lacking, still a great game

The latest addition to the Splinter Cell franchise is a worthy addition to the XBOX 360 lineup. While not quite as next-gen as Gears of War this is still a great game. Plenty of stealth action (as always) to satisy any die hard SC fan. Multiplayer could be a bit better though, overall still a fantastic game!

More Sneaking Stuff
4 Star Review   By member thebob101 - Jan 25, 2007

Strengths: gameplay, graphics

Weakness: AI

The fourth edition of the Splinter Cell series packs a lot of gameplay and a tremendous amount of intense situations that will raise both your heart rate and stress level. The graphics are beautiful and the story line is good for the most part. If you are a fan of the Splinter Cell series then Double Agent is definitely for you.

Splinter Cell with Choices, but are there enough?
3 Star Review   By member Mark Michon - Jan 9, 2007

Strengths: Solid stealth gameplay as expected from the series.

Weakness: Rather long load times, short run-time, and a strange loading issue.

As a fan of the series, and a fan of stealth style gameplay in general, this iteration of the Splinter Cell franchise was a treat. One of the biggest issues in the past was "Wow this game has great graphics, too bad I am in night vision green 90% of the time." D.A. brings Sam Fisher literally into the light. Much of the game is done in well lit areas in which you must learn to use cover and shadows instead of pure darkness like the previous games. The faction system is a feature new to the series as well. While on paper it is great, and offers multiple endings, the system boils down to simply completing additional tasks. There are a few "Yes or No" moments, but not nearly enough to engage you. Players will find they really don't care about many of the characters, and thus put less emphasis on choosing one way or the other. The biggest drawback, which is often the case in many of the SC games, is that it runs a bit low on gameplay. The single player campaign is roughly 10 hours, give or take a few on how you play it, and the story, while solid, is somewhat bland. There is of course multiplayer on Xbox Live, which may or may not be for everyone. Overall I consider Double Agent a solid rental, over the price of $60.

Action that rivals a lot of movies
5 Star Review   By member mchenoweth16 - Dec 15, 2006

Strengths: Graphics will wow you and the story and gameplay draw you into a game that feels like a playable movie.

From the time you start playing, you feel like you are in the latest action blockbuster. With games like this, it is understandable that the game industry is now bigger than hollywood. You feel the suspense as you have to make decisions and create ways to get through different situations. Highly recommended.

solid addition to Splintercell series
4 Star Review   By member illuming - Nov 25, 2006

Strengths: strong graphics, satisfying story, long gameplay

Weakness: multiplayer occasionally lags

Splinter Cell Double Agent allows you to play as Sam Fisher and for the first time choose if you want to work as a double agent. No longer do you have to do the "right" thing. You can choose to go against orders and work on your own. The game has a solid story that adds to the Splinter Cell series. Online multiplayer can occasionally lag, but I have not seen much lag in the past few days. Initially the lag was probably due to the large amount of gamers playing. Overall, I'd say if you liked the Splinter Cell series up to this point, this game is a worthwhile addition to your collection.

Excellent game
5 Star Review   By member jinyu1 - Nov 22, 2006

Strengths: Good graphics, story line

Weakness: None so far.

Splinter Cell Double Agent is a great game. It has lots of actions, an excellent story line. Plus, the graphics are awesome. You'll need an HDTV (or a large LCD monitor) to fully enjoy it. I think it's worth my 60 bucks. I cannot think anything bad about it!

Best of the series
5 Star Review   By member gh0zt - Nov 14, 2006

Strengths: excellent graphics, multiplayer, story

Weakness: not much. multiplayer lags

I've never really gotten into the other splinter cell titles as I didn't play video games that much. When I picked this game up I caught myself playing it for hours and hours. Excellent graphics and an engaging storyline made this a title that hooked me from the start. My little time with the multiplayer was a blast except when I experienced the occasional lag. Heard there was a patch for that coming if its not already out. No real weaknesses here, if you liked previous splinter cell titles then you will like this one.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent - Another Winner
5 Star Review   By member electroknock - Nov 1, 2006

Strengths: Excellent Splinter Cell Gameplay, more freedom during levels, freedom to choose missions, excellent graphics and sound.

Weakness: Some of the AI is still a little cheesy, but all in all the weaknesses are few.

This is the best Splinter Cell yet. There is a blend of old and new things within the game that allow us veterans to enjoy some of our fun toys and gadgets and to get rid of the old less-exciting ones (lock-picking by hand for one). The gameplay is awesome, no longer are you confined by whatever Lambert says. You must balance your orders between the terrorist organization that you are undercover in and the NSA. Needless to say, this can get tricky sometimes. Don't let this one get away.

Sam is back!
5 Star Review   By member bobbyblane - Oct 30, 2006

Strengths: tried and true Splinter Cell gameplay with a great new story

Weakness: Not as good as chaos theory

This is one of the greatest games on the 360. If you are familiar with the series the gameplay will come naturally to you. I also believe that this game has the best story in the Splinter Cell series which just adds to its overall greatness. Pick this game up!

The Next Gen of Splinter Cell
4 Star Review   By member Admiral_Ackbar - Oct 23, 2006

Strengths: Strng single player and Multi-player. Interestign story. it's splinter Cell.

Weakness: Nothing groudbraking. Doesn't really stress the 360. Doesn't feel Next-genish enough for me.

Splinter Cell DA is the first port of the series to a next generation system. It's a very good game in the mold of the previous games. This time with a more interesting and different story for our intrepid agent Sam Fisher. The gameplay is what you expect, the game looks great, and the multiplayer is top notch. The only thing is that this isn't a truly wow game. It's a great game, but more the next step in the series than something revolutionary. I don't think it pushes the power of the 360 either.

Splinter Cell
4 Star Review   By member The_Admiral - Oct 23, 2006

Strengths: It's splinter Cell, so it's good.

Weakness: It's still Splinter Cell

This is a decent game in the mold of the Splinter Cell franchise. But there's not mush wow factor here. It's what you would expect. There's a good story, good multiplayer, and a good single player. But otherwise it's the same Splinter Cell. Which isn't bad, because that's pretty good.
