The WWE comes to the 360.
4 Star Review   By member Karyyk - Jul 15, 2007

Strengths: Nice visuals, intuitive controls, in-depth create-a-wrestler mode, decent storylines.

Weakness: LOOOOOONG loading times, some glitches (clipping), reversals seem nearly impossible, voice-overs seem limited.

Smackdown vs. Raw comes to the XBOX 360, and overall, it delivers. The game looks quite nice, and sometimes it almost looks like the real deal. Characters look great, and overall, it plays a mean match of wrestling too. The new "Ultimate" control scheme is quite intuitive, although there is a learning curve. You can default to a more traditional setup, but once you get the hang of it, you won't want to play it any other way. The game manages to throw the usual wrestling storylines at you, and while they're not going to win any awards, they're generally interesting enough, if a bit goofy. The now standard create-a-wrestler is particularly well implemented, as you can even edit your ring entrance, although it would be nice if a system with a hard drive that supports external storage devices would allow a bit more personalization by allowing the use of your own music and art. Create-a-wrestler will finally arrive when that happens. There are some negatives of note, such as some graphical glitches, limited voice-over work and ridiculously long loading times, but when everything is said and done, you'll keep playing this game regardless.

First xbox wrestling game that isn't bad
3 Star Review   By member azpunisherx@yahoo.com - Apr 26, 2007

Strengths: Excellent visuals, decent roster, expansive CAW mode

Weakness: Extreme load time, poor reversal methods, lack of voice overs

The Smackdown series has always been the best at the wrestling genre. With Xbox always having a track record of having the worst wrestling games. What happens when both collide? Graphics- 8/10 The graphics is an obvious upgrade to the series. The developers always improves on the graphics every year, but this time it gets an even more face-lift on the 360. To compare the graphics are better than the Playstation2 version. Of course that isn't surprising considering this is a next-gen system. The wrestlers look more realistic than ever before, and the create of characters look almost as good as the actual wrestlers. Sound- 5/10 The biggest disappointment of the game. One of the biggest things in wrestling is having great commentators. While the four commentators are good in real life, they aren't so great in this game. One of the main reasons for this is that it's repetitive. Not only do they repeat what they just said in the same match, but they say basically the same thing in every match. I also believe I've heard most of their lines from the last Smackdown game. Of course the commentators don't get all the hate. The music that comes with the game is just terrible and random. One moment your getting hit by some hard rock type music, and another moment your getting hit by a rap song saying "G-unit!!". Storyline- 7/10 The story lines in this game are ok considering that the smackdown games weren't so big with it in any of their games. I like certain events like having some choice in the matter, but most of the time it is very linear. The WWE is all about having great story lines to entertain their viewers, so why not improving on the storyline for the gamers? Gameplay- 8/10 The game-play has two separate control schemes. One scheme in almost like the controls from last year game( In which I use most of the time), while the other scheme is the selling point of the game itself. It is called "Ultimate control" and allows you to be in more control of your moves. While it does work, and can give you an edge against online opponents if they use the other control scheme. I tend to make a lot of mistakes with this control scheme, but if you get the hang of it than your more than ready for anyone. Another flaw is that the A.I hasn't been getting any smarter from last year. Actually I believe they have gotten even dumber. For example in a tag team match you can be getting jumped and your partner is just standing there doing nothing at all. General manager mode is back, and is basically the same game just with some extra features. It is also much harder to win against the CPU this time around. Overall-8/10 Despite the A.I and sound issues this is still the best wrestling game to date. As far as is this game worth the extra ten bucks, I believe it is. I've heard many loading problems with the PS2 version, and thankfully this game doesn't have any. Add that with better graphics and always have that feature to put your won music it is well worth it.

Fun WWE Game!
4 Star Review   By member EdgeYouth - Apr 12, 2007

Strengths: GM Mode, Varying difficulties, online, music and presentation...

Weakness: Longer load screens, some campy storylines/acting, still not fond of the grappling system.

Without AKI, THQ brings us another attempt at next gen wrestling with WWE Smackdown Vs. RAW on the XBox 360. All the bells and whistles you could expect from the series are there, full blown entrances, crazy signs in the crowd, arenas, commentary, original music, etc... The graphics are still pretty great, though they suffer from the overly muscled/plastic shiny coating that all sports games like to throw out there for the next gen. I still like the GM mode. I'm not a fan of how the GM mode determines viewers, but I enjoy the concept and the ability to build and play up things. With that mode, it's pretty clear that there could be tons of alterations and additions to the mode to make it the "fantasy" game that most wrestling fans have always longed for. I also think, unfortunately, that limiting the rosters to 20 is a short sighted limitation on the game. Online is an interesting experience. With the WWE games, you will always find more of the stereotypical cursing 12 year olds than any other franchise on the system. Couple that with sore losers and magical disconnects that seem to be missing from other games and there is a lot more than can be done to improve the experience there--- especially if many achievements involve online play. All and all, the gameplay is the biggest thing that people come back for. The load screens are still there, taking too much time. The biggest downside is wanting to play a quick match in season mode and getting things loaded and reloaded to something new. The depth is appreciated, but the load times still need to be trimmed. The grappling system is still trying, but is not the level I'd like when compared to Fire Pro or the old No Mercy/WrestleMania games on the N64. There must be a more functional way to add depth to the character moveset and still make it so everyone can pick the game up. All and all, this game is certainly not a purchase I regret. Playing with friends online is always fun and the GM mode will at least give me something to kill time with when I wonder what might happen if...

Same old- but not a bad thing!
4 Star Review   By member npe34 - Mar 10, 2007

Strengths: -"new" innovative thumbstick grapples -outstanding graphics -fun season mode -legends in roster

Weakness: -bad overall roster -unupdated (hair, characters, gameplay) - clipping, sound is average

This series is starting to show its age, so that means it's peaked at this version. The gameplay is really fun, animations are outstanding, and overall presentation feels like a WWE show. Season mode is engaging and simulates actual commentary during entrances related to story lines. Very interesting stories. Online mode was a bit laggy.

Smackdown 360
4 Star Review   By member egofed - Mar 1, 2007

Strengths: Great graphics, create a wrestler, same smackdown style control

Weakness: Loading times seem long, AI a little suspect

If you have played Smackdown before, then you know what to expect with prettier graphics and an updated roster. The new control scheme is OK, but you have the option to go back to last year's. Multiplayer is still a blast, and a few new modes have been introduced. I paid 29.99, and would definitely repurchase at that price.

Great Improvement From Previous Years!
4 Star Review   By member soccerstud652 - Feb 23, 2007

Strengths: Great graphics, DX entrance, detailed storyline, Manager Mode, new grapple system works great, WWE Legends

Weakness: Long loading times, bodies clashing is akward at times.

Overall, the best WWE game to date. It has tons of features, including ladder matches, hell in the cell, and many other types of matches. The story mode is long and detailed with many different possiblilities. All in all, a game well worth about $35. The online mode seems to be rather laggy.

5 stars ...not quite yet....but 4 stars
4 Star Review   By member UJBL28 - Feb 19, 2007

Strengths: Tons of modes and content, including a lengthy season mode and online play; new grappling system takes some learning but ultimately works well; excellent-looking wrestler models; a solid amount of voi

Weakness: GM mode is still rather limited and kind of dull; longtime artificial intelligence, clipping, and collision-detection issues remain; commentary is weak; roster is fairly out of date.

overall it's fun with replay value all over it granted the variety of wrestlers isn't in the game but. There's so much to do and experience throughout the game, and as a multiplayer game, it's a riot to play, especially with a lot of the crazy gimmick matches. Not to mention that for fans of Microsoft's consoles, this is the first time that an Xbox system has gotten a wrestling game worth its salt, and that fact alone ought to excite just about any Xbox 360 owner out there. Longtime fans of the series will be disappointed by a few shortcomings, but they'll ultimately enjoy what the game offers. And for those who've missed out on the SmackDown! series during its many years as a Sony-system exclusive, it's a great chance for you to find out what you've been missing out on.

Strengths: There are new charcters

Weakness: I do not think there is none

Do you want to get revenge on someone. Now would be the time. My favorite superstar is the Undertaker. They added new supersatares like Umaga, Finely, Mark Henery, Bobby Lashey and more. Also it has good graphics. You could even go in the crowds and beat them up.
