Prey
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Jul 21, 2006

Just a few years ago, you couldn’t mention the game Prey without also adding “vaporware” to it. However, that was then, and now the game that was initially in development nearly a decade ago for the PC is finally launching with a beautiful graphics engine and some truly revolutionary gameplay elements. 3DRealms’ Native-American/sci-fi epic has finally hit store shelves not only for the PC, but also the Xbox 360. Either way you slice it, PC or 360, Prey is a great game that was well worth the wait. Prey follows Tommy, a mechanic living on a Cherokee reservation in the southwest United States.

A great solid 360 title
4 Star Review   By member bassec - Sep 18, 2007

Strengths: +new innovative gameplay +BEAUTIFUL!

Weakness: -misses the mark for what it tries

This is a BEAUTIFUL game. There is no doubt about it. It's got all new gameplay elements (portals anyone?) The only problem is that it doesn't quite hit the mark it's going for. It's stale sometimes...the alien innards look dull after a while and so on. While it's fun, it can get boring.

Prey (Xbox 360)
4 Star Review   By member vlo - Sep 10, 2007

Strengths: It's a pretty different FPS. Some pretty easy achievement points for gamers that like playing for that purpose.

Weakness: Storyline could've been better. Dying and reviving at a checkpoint became a not so fun aspect of the game.

I rented the game first and decided I liked it enough to buy it. Now the reason why I bought it is because you can easily lose concentration on this game because some things are repetitive but you'll feel up for it later. It isn't a game for the kiddos because there is some cursing and I had no problem with that because I have no children but just a warning for parents.

Prey (360)
5 Star Review   By member neudog - Aug 21, 2007

Strengths: Everything, Collector's Edition

Weakness: Multi-player gets a little bland

One of the surprise hits for the 360. This game has the whole package, from great graphics, innovative game play, and engrossing storyline. This is a game that should be in every 360 owner's library.

Prey
3 Star Review   By member Venent - Jul 30, 2007

Strengths: Good storyline and graphics, interesting mechanic of how to move through the environment

Weakness: Multiplayer is very stale

Your enjoyment of this game will come down to one thing, how much do you enjoy a good, story driven first-person shooter. The graphics are very good, and the gameplay is fun (although it is pretty straight-forward). There isn't as much thinking as you would think with the mechanic of moving through the levels, but at the same time, it has wonderful pick-up and play appeal. Recommended.

Prey
4 Star Review   By member ssimp12626 - Apr 21, 2007

Strengths: graphics

Prey is a pretty good shooter. It has a good storyline and the graphics are excellent. Prey has a decent multiplayer componenet. The first couple of levels are a little boring but as the levels progress it becomes more challenging. Overall it is a decent shooter.

pretty good game, fun to play
4 Star Review   By member allen9917 - Apr 14, 2007

Strengths: has some interesting and unique features like the weapon design, gravity effects and portals. good graphics

Weakness: no "game over"; awful online multiplayer mode

Prey is an overall pretty good first person shooter game. The story line is interesting, although not very innovative. The designs of weapon are absolutely unique in the game and have very enjoyable twists. The puzzles are not difficult to solve but still quite a lot of fun. There's no "game over", you could always come back after a mini game no matter how you've been killed. I really hope a shooter game could be more challenging. Don't even bother to try the multiplayer mode, it's simply boring.

Prey (Xbox 360)
4 Star Review   By member shrike424242 - Feb 22, 2007

Strengths: Impressive visuals and sounds, different than the average FPS, good storyline

Weakness: Very short single-player campaign, not for the weak of stomach, weak multiplayer, stupid enemy AI

Prey for the Xbox 360 is a story-driven FPS that involves a Native American kidnapped by aliens, who needs to fight his way to save his girlfriend and grandfather. The game looks great and sounds great, with some interesting challenges with the portals that warp time and space between areas. For the weak-of-stomach FPS gamer, this can make things quite disorienting. The story's well thought out and interesting, though the single-player campaign is quite short. The enemy AI isn't the sharpest knives in the drawer, and the multiplayer isn't very strong. Overall, a good, if short, FPS.

Prey (XBOX 360)
4 Star Review   By member cotebryan - Jan 16, 2007

Strengths: (1) Good graphics (2) Innovative powers deviate from your typical FPS

Weakness: (1) Average AI (2) You "respawn" after death via a Spirit Walking mini game and reappear exactly where you died which makes the game a bit too easy to plow through. I would have liked more challenge.

Prey for the XBOX 360 is a solid First Person Shooter that offers up nice graphics (thanks in part to the Doom 3 engine) while also offering up much more varied gameplay than its similar looking cousins Doom 3 and Quake 4. I thoroughly enjoyed the combat and the nontraditional wall walking, gravity manipulation, spirit walking and portal navigation. The story takes place in an organic and living alien ship where the hero gains abilities and learns to use the otherworldly environment to his advantage. This game has gained much recognition for its portal system, in which a round portal can suddenly open up before you and offer a warp point to another room of the ship. This, combined with the ability to leave your body and pass through physical barriers (via Spirit Walking), along with the ship's nontraditional and alterable gravity make for some very fun and interest combat and puzzle scenarios.

Prey You Don't Get Dizzy
4 Star Review   By member thebob101 - Nov 21, 2006

Strengths: Graphics, gameplay, mini games

Weakness: Could make you dizzy, enemy AI

Prey has a great concept, mix Aliens with Native American Folklore. The graphics are fantastic in the game and gameplay is smooth. You can walk on walls and ceilings, but watch out, this type of gameplay isn't for everyone. At points I was very dizzy. The weapons are very cool, but unfortunately, the enemy AI lacks a bit.
