Description
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer features Marvel Entertainment's legendary super-powered foursome in its second big adventure. In the game and the film, Marvel's first family of Super Heroes faces its greatest challenge yet as the enigmatic, intergalactic herald, the Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, the team must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost! The game is based on both the popular comic book series, as well as the movie sequel, with exclusive plot elements that complement the film. It features all of the foursome's over-the-top super powers, as well as a unique fusion attack system that allows players to combine forces with one, two or all teammates, in order to execute devastating team attacks against the opposition. In addition to fighting familiar enemies from the Fantastic Four universe, players can unlock alternative costumes, comic covers and more!

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
2.5 Star Review  GameZone - Jun 28, 2007

To be honest I was less than impressed with the latest Fantastic 4 movie that just hit theaters. After viewing many high-quality superhero movies within the past few years I was wanting/expecting more from the movie. Not from the visuals standpoint but it has more to do with the plot of the movie. After putting in hours playing the game based off the movie I am saddened to saw that this game is also lacking in many areas that really make this game less the stellar and only half of what it could have been. Read on to find out why. Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer takes a lot from games such as the X-Men Legend and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
3 Star Review   By member shipwreck1 - Jun 30, 2008

Strengths: Co-op play, super power upgrades

Weakness: Repetitive

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is a decent brawler that features the four super heroes and their unique powers. I guess the best part about the game is the co-op play and the ability to partner up to combine the powers of the two heroes into combo moves. After awhile, the combat gets repetitive, but if you can find it cheap enough, it might be fun to play with kids.

Another movie video game . . . gone bad
2 Star Review   By member richmich15 - Feb 25, 2008

Strengths: Fairly easy achievements

Weakness: repetitive . . . repetitive . . . repetitive . . .

I really thought that the game might have some potential, but I was wrong. The game graphics were good, but the voices keep repeating the same thing again and again. The levels are the same thing again and again also, just keep using the Thing to break everything and move on, it's gets very repetitive. I can't recommend the game, but I will give it 2 stars because of the achievements.

Boring game not worth more than $10
2 Star Review   By member mmarcoux - Jan 11, 2008

Strengths: Easy to play. Voices are from the film.

Weakness: Just about everything else. Boring, repetitive levels, not very interesting gameplay.

The visuals are pretty lame and lackluster for a 360 title, and while the characters themselves look nice, the environments are pretty bland and uninspired, much like the level design. I was very disappointed as this looks like it was developed originally for the PS2. For the $10 that I paid for it, I will get my money out of it... but for those poor people who paid anything above $30... I fee sorry for them :(.

Fantastic 4 for XBox 360
2 Star Review   By member DeLKay - Nov 24, 2007

Strengths: a cheap Xbox360 game, very much like the movie, co-op up to 4 can play at the same time.

Weakness: not xbox 360 graphics standard, confused camera angles, too repeatative

This game is very much resemblance the movie which is both bad and good: you can use all their abilities, but nothing else extra, creativity, nor adventures ...The graphics doesn't do justice to the Xbox 360 platform. It's another so-so game that you probably will play once, and will not touch it again. It's too boring for a teenager, but difficult for younger kids to play. It's definitely in the rental category (don't buy it).

Yet another disappointment for comic book/film fans. . .
3 Star Review   By member MadWolfie01 - Nov 14, 2007

Strengths: Compelling storyline, complex combat build system, co-op support

Weakness: Generic beat-em-up action, lackluster visuals, occasional camera/frame rate issues, limited replay value, short overall length

Just like the first film, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer suffers from a generic film-to-video game translation, resulting in just another generic beat-em-up. If you've played Marvel Ultimate Alliance or X-men Legends, you've already played a better version of what this game could have been. You (and up to three friends) will lead the Fantastic Four character of your choice through six short levels in this loose translation of the film. While the story works quite well, the generic combat, dull enemy AI and monotonous environments make playing a chore. If you're a big Fantastic Four fan or really liked X-men Legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance, there is some fun to be had here. Just go in understanding that this game does nothing new or interesting in the process. Rent it first if you're unsure, and definitely do no pay full price.

Nothing like the movie..
2 Star Review   By member tpino84 - Jul 13, 2007

Strengths: Co-Op is fun.

Weakness: A lot. There just seems to be a lot of things going on.. and it's really annoying at times.

It looks like it would play similar to the X-Men Legends games or even Marvel Ultimate Alliance. It sorta does, but those games are actually good. This one? Not so much. It was manageable to beat (I had a friend with me), but it wasn't the best time we'be spent playing games together. Rent it. It's a GOOD rental! But it doesn't follow the movie at ALL...
