Splatterhouse
1.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jan 12, 2011

A rethinking of a classic franchise that began in 1988, Splatterhouse (2010) has been designed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, focusing on gore-heavy combat applied to the classic action format. The original story boasts the inspiration from renowned comic talent Gordon Rennie of Necronauts and Judge Dredd fame. Its extensive soundtrack features some of the larger names in Metal, including Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, and Mastodon, and compliments the pace and manic action in-game. The game also features the bonus unlockable of accessing the first three game in the series, as a throwback and bonus to franchise followers and nostalgic gamers. Overall, Splatterhouse is an offering to loyal followers to bring the gore standard to todays graphical platforms, while giving an easy nod to its history. Features Extreme gore Physics-driven fluid and decapitation Improvised weapons and environmental attacks Deep move list Challenging epic-scale bosses Combo ... PROS: (1) satisfying combat (2) great upgrade system that lets you get new skills and abilities on a regular pace (3) includes the original Splatterhouse 1, 2 and 3 (4) some genuinely funny lines ... CONS: (1) repetitive combat (2) excruciatingly long loading when you die (3) very awkward controls for platforming sections (4) insta-kill death pits and traps that are difficult to avoid because of the clunky controls (5) some very poorly set checkpoints can make things really frustrating
