Madden NFL 08

Madden NFL 08 finally offers the majority of features that have been lacking in the past few games. Madden NFL 08
4 Star Review   By member ssession - Nov 27, 2007

Strengths: Faster and smoother gameplay than previous years (60 frames per second). Easy and fun achievements. Improved kicking game. Better graphics. Improved AI.

Weakness: Still not a fan of the EA Sports menu system. Repetitive play-by-play.

This is what the last few versions of Madden for the Xbox 360 should have been. The game is beautiful. They have added a lot more character animations and detail. The gameplay is smooth and fun. The AI (your team and the opponents) is much better as well. And the achievements are considerably easier to get than in Madden 07. Mini-camp is so much fun. The play-by-play can be repetitive and annoying, but luckily you can turn it off. For advanced gamers, there are a lot of tweaks made just for you. There are almost too many options, but you don't really need to use any of them to enjoy the game.

Very Authentic
3 Star Review   By member thoe999 - Nov 17, 2007

Strengths: 60 frames per second

Weakness: Much of last year's game

Madden08 is a solid NFL video game. I've always enjoyed playing this, but this year there is not many new features. 60 frames per second definitely makes the feel of the game a lot smoother. It makes the controls much more responsive and I think EA did a good job putting that effort into this year's version.

Another year, another Madden 2008.
3 Star Review   By member Juggernaut1979 - Sep 19, 2007

Strengths: Its the only licensed NFL Football game. Great graphics.

Weakness: Gameplay not the greatest, more of the same. You'll stop playing it when Madden 2009 comes out.

Madden 2008 is the only licensed NFL Football game available; and despite being the longest running football franchise, it still hasn't reached its potential yet. The graphics look really good, and the mechanics are okay. Because of the nature of the beast, you will only enjoy this game for the next 10 months; as Madden 2009 is just around the corner. I still think the best NFL game was Sega's NFL 2K5.

A lot of fun and a good effort this time around
4 Star Review   By member mmarcoux - Sep 19, 2007

Strengths: Graphics, smooth 60fps graphics unlike the PS3, fun gameplay

Weakness: No ESPN integration and Live options missing. too many interceptions

This years Madden is leaps and bounds above previous next gen efforts. Best of the three that were released for the 360. However, it still has a ways to go such as still missing online leagues or actual ESPN integration(what did they pay all that money to ESPN for.) Madden is finally up to par for this generation but still has a little ways to go to make the final cut. It is a beautiful game and your only option for NFL players as All Pro doesn't have that.

Madden NFL 08
4 Star Review   By member ready2run2 - Sep 15, 2007

Strengths: Great graphics, smooth gameplay

Weakness: Can be frustrating if you have never played Madden before

This is the best football game on the Xbox 360 right now. Compared to other versions of Madden on the 360, it runs at a smooth 60 frames per second. It contains the main features such as Franchise mode and Season mode. Overall, this is a good game for any football fan!

Version of Madden to get.
3 Star Review   By member The_Admiral - Sep 14, 2007

Strengths: Great online and offline play. Nice franchise modes. More tweaks and improvments from last years.

Weakness: No online leagues.

Madden for the 360 is the version of choice for people who want to play. The online setup is better. The graphics are just as good as on the PS3. The play is slightly improcved. it's like Madden from last year, but morerefined. I do wish they would upgrade a couple things like online leagues. But overall, it's Madden, and its good. So pick it up.

It's Madden time again
4 Star Review   By member kgivens - Sep 1, 2007

Strengths: More improvements than '07

Weakness: None in particular

My son is the Madden buff. I asked him for his impressions after we bought this. Graphically he saw only modest improvements compared to last year's game. He felt the passing game was significantly improved over '07. Overall the franchise still looks great and this game does nothing to dampen our enthusiasm for the game.

Madden 08... A Slight Improvement
4 Star Review   By member markc72 - Aug 29, 2007

Strengths: -60fps. -Better player controls. -Tougher secondary.

Weakness: -Still awful commentary. -NO ONLINE LEAGUES.

This Madden is definitely the best next gen version by far and possibly the top 3 ever. 60fps makes quite a difference for player movement and smoothness of gameplay. The graphics are good but not great though and looks slightly better than last year. EA has finally fixed the bad secondary play finally, so no more long bombs every play. This year is still plagued by that god awful commentator that sounds like a bad radio. Still no stinking online leagues which makes 2K sport games so much better when trying to play a season with your buddies. The online lag is much better this year. I will suggest getting it because it is a pretty good step in the right direction.

Excellent NFL football
4 Star Review   By member mchenoweth16 - Aug 27, 2007

Strengths: Nice graphics and super smooth gameplay

Weakness: too many turnovers

Madden games over the last couple of years have had great graphics on the XBox 360, but the gameplay was flat. This year, the graphics have been boosted a little, but the gameplay is very smooth. The game site reviews say that the game runs at 60 frames per second and you can really tell in how it plays. It feels like you are really controlling the players now. In addition, EA has a new animation system that gives you control even while an animation is happening. The artificial intelligence of both the pass and run defense is also much better, so games feel much more like NFL games. The only gripe I have is that fumbles happen way too often, often between 5 and 10 per game. Interceptions also happen very often, but I think that's because I'm not used to playing the game with good pass defenders.
