Turok
3.5 Star Review  GameZone - Feb 8, 2008

Turok was a real kick in the pants on the Nintendo 64, arguably one of that system's top games and the second incarnation on the original Xbox was, how should I say this? Disappointing. It lacked the living, breathing action and cohesiveness of a well-scripted and designed game. Well, the license still is pretty kick-butt, so Propagnada Studios has reloaded and leveled off a double barrel of action and violence, but will it make us remember the good Turok, or the disappointing? Let me start off by saying that the whole video-game industry has been officially put on notice, it's time to come up with a new character name other then Kane.

Mindlessly fun dinosaur slaughter
4 Star Review   By member kgivens - Oct 26, 2008

Strengths: High production values, great voice actors, nice graphics

Weakness: Redundant at times (like the very first Turok)

What young boy doesn't dream of killing dinosaurs with a hunting knife? Ok, not many, but you'll get plenty of opportunities to try it during Turok. You will also frequently die and have to restart levels from the beginning, quite annoying. Nonetheless the game is fun, with recognizable voice talent, some exhausting battles, and better than average graphics.

Turok (XB360)
4 Star Review   By member cotebryan - Oct 2, 2008

Strengths: (1) Great man-on-dino encounters (2) Good graphics (3) Strong presentation

Weakness: (1) There is nothing special about the man vs. man situations (2) Ditches the N64 entries' richer sci-fi fantasy setting for a more generic space marine feel

Turok is a solid first person shooter game which differentiates itself a bit with the combat vs. dinosaurs or the option to use them against your enemies. The presentation and graphics are great but the story is unfortunately not of the same caliber. It would have been nice if there were more options and open-ended gameplay but the levels are pretty linear and restrictive and only the knife will take down dinos effectively. With these restrictions, the game is much more straight-forward than might be hoped given the carnage and chaos a world of dinosaurs might offer. The multiplayer provides short-lived thrills as the addition of dinosaurs is the only note-worthy item. The rest of the multiplayer pales in comparison to the leaders of the pack.

Not as bad as I thought it would be
3 Star Review   By member sipkristal - Sep 8, 2008

Strengths: dinosaurs! multiplayer is fun!

Weakness: short single player

I purchased this well-aware of the average reviews it got and it actually exceeded my expectations. The weapons are fun to use and pretty satisfying. Multiplayer is always fun but single-player felt a little short for my liking. There may be a ton of FPS games out there that may be better, but Turok is still a solid play through.

Turok (360)
3 Star Review   By member shrike424242 - Sep 7, 2008

Strengths: Good graphics and sound, enjoyable combat, online multiplayer

Weakness: Bad ememy AI, mis-balanced weapons, laughable plot

Turok is a reimaging of the series on the Xbox 360, with some limited results. The game looks good and sounds good, so it upgrades the look of the game well, though it's a bit of a pretty face on a passable game. The combat is enjoyable enough, though the weapon balance is a bit off, as the knife is far more powerful than it should be. The hand-to-hand combat is fun as well, though it gets a bit repetitive doing that and nothing else. The enemy AI is brainless, and doesn't use much in the way of tactics or planning. There's online multiplayer options, though there's not much variety, nor much in the way of numerous games going. Turok fans should pick this up on the cheaper side.

Turok: The way it should have always been done
3 Star Review   By member steverice2008 - Feb 16, 2008

Strengths: Sweet dino fighting/ luring.

Weakness: Jungle environment not as open as expected. Plot leaves a lot to be desired.

This Turok game lacks the AI and plot explinations Turok has always does. Compared to previous installments, this is the only game worth playing. There are actually checkpoints so you don't have to go back 2 miles to the start of the level when you die, amazing! The up close and personal dino fighting is awesome, with hands on combat moves, as well as dinos knocking you on your butt when they charge you. Killing people is as lame as it has always been on turok, dinos go down so easy and people take entire clips. I think the dinos are smarter than the people in this game. I like the new damage system, halo style but more rugged, your screen gets more red and blurry as you take on damage, and you have to take cover to get better. This is by far the best Turok game, but they still haven't fixed the dissapointments that come from buyinh a dinosuar hunting game and getting something a little different than hoped for.

Good
3 Star Review

Strengths: Overall gore is great, knife kills are great.

Weakness: Not enough weapons, online play is a little slow.

The single player campaign is great. Although I thought that more weapons would have been great. Also i thought that there should be a stealth meter or something to make stealth kills better. The multiplayer co-op should have been longer.
