Xbox LIVE | 12 + 1 Month Gold Card
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jun 4, 2009

Xbox LIVE is an online gaming service and digital media distribution network by Microsoft. It was first introduced in 2002 with the original Xbox system that required a separate disc purchase, and has since become an integral part of the Xbox360 experience. With the Xbox 360 Microsoft has seamlessly integrated the connected nature of LIVE into all aspects of the consoles interface allowing you to interact with your friends while playing games, or watching movies. In the fall of 2008 Microsoft released their "New Xbox Experience" interface that upgraded the Xbox 360s operating system and expanded the LIVE features to include Mii-like "Avatars". One of the big changes to LIVE introduced was the party system that lets up to 8 people join up together no matter what theyre doing and be able to voice chat and engage in different activities together. There are two membership levels of LIVE: Silver, the free ... PROS: (1) can queue up downloads on the web (2) detailed player statistics can be viewed on Xbox.com (3) standardized system and interface across ALL games (4) party system makes meeting up with friends very easy (5) can send messages to people on the web ... CONS: (1) some content requires a Gold membership (2) Microsoft points (Xbox LIVE currency) must be purchased in blocks - users might have to spend more money upfront in order to purchase the item wanted (3) expensive compared to alternatives (which are all free) (4) no short term Gold membership options for the less hardcore - it would be nice to join for a weekend every now and then (5) you cant move your gamertag to another country - MS says not possible

price is for 3 months not 12
1 Star Review

Weakness: waste of time

I was directed to VPGames because the said the price of a 12mo card was $17.84. When I go to the site, the cost is over $19 and it is for a 3mo card. Take this off your site if it's not accurate. What a waste of time.

Best Deal
5 Star Review   By member mcelhakd - Feb 9, 2008

Strengths: Long lasting, most cost-effieient way to get Xbox Live

Very good product that allows you to not have to worry about whether or not your Xbox Live subscription will end soon. I recieved mine for christmas and now all I have to remember is to ask for one for christmas every year. Very good deal on Xbox Live, comes out to about $3.34 a month if you buy from Gateway at $39.99. Xbox Live is the best in online gaming and this is definitely a great product.

Xbox Live 12+1 Subscription Card
5 Star Review   By member shuksan_05 - Oct 20, 2007

Strengths: At price I paid, ~$3 a month for access to game demos, system updates, movies/tv shows, and a worldwide network of people to play games with. Cheaper to buy this card then renew over Xbox Live.

Weakness: The only weakness is that you have to pay to use Xbox Live, but $3/mo is not bad (skip lunch or coffee one day).

If you've got an Xbox (or Xbox 360), then you'll want Xbox Live. It gives you great access to movies, tv shows, games, and most importantly (for those multiplayer games) - other gamers. If you see a good deal for this card - jump on it! You can enter the code on the back of the card anytime (doesn't have to be at the end of your existing subscription) and it will extend your current subscription.

12 month card
4 Star Review   By member psincubus - Aug 9, 2007

Strengths: 12 months of online goodness

Weakness: only can be used to play online multiplayer

This card, when added to your xbox live account, extends your gold membership by 12 months. With this membership, you get everything you would with a Silver membership, ie Xbox Live Arcade, game demos, etc, as well as the ability to play online multiplayer in games that support it.

360 12 month sub
5 Star Review   By member Pookymeister - Jul 30, 2007

Strengths: 12 months on the Live service

Weakness: Price

I enjoy using Live. Obviously Id prefer to not have to pay $50 a year - but its fairly convenient and its the only way to play online with friends. This particular item allows you to buy a subscription without using a credit card through your Xbox. You can get the subscription without this card right from your couch if you wanted. This is geared towards people without a credit card and those who might not feel comfortable entering your info into the console. Not much else to it.

Necessary...if you want to play online
3 Star Review   By member Rig85 - Jul 19, 2007

Strengths: Allows for online gaming

Weakness: You have to pay for it

I love playing online. I really do. It is much better than playing the same, repetitive CPU again and again. But here's the thing: I hate to pay for it! Really, both the PS3 and Wii have free online gaming. And I know that people will argue with me, saying the 360 has much better features than those other two systems I DON'T CARE! You could take all the features away from me, and simply give me randomized online play with strangers (for free!) and I would be happy. Still, since they won't do that, this is the next best thing. With it, you get a year subscription to play online. So if you pwn n00bs like I do, you'll want to get one.

Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Subscription Card
3 Star Review   By member jinyu1 - Jun 18, 2007

Strengths: Convenient and easy to use

Weakness: Weak code printing

The Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Subscription Card is convenient and easy to use. You just need to scratch off the coating and enter the 25-digital code into Xbox Live. There is no need to give your credit card number to Microsoft. However, you need to be very careful when scratching off the coating. I used a metal letter opener to do the scratching. But it not only scratched off the coating, it also removed the printing of some of the 25-digit code!!! The 25-digit code is not imprinted into the plastic card; they are printed on top of the plastic surface. What a cheap job!

Xbox Live 12-month subscription card
4 Star Review   By member allenmc - Apr 18, 2007

Strengths: better price than downloading the renewal from xbox online

Weakness: have to wait for the card to come in the mail rather than the immediate download online

I purchase this card yearly for my teenagers to continue their xbox live game play. The price of the card is cheaper than the immediate download from xbox live online. This works out better for me as long as I can plan in advance when their subscription will run out and plan ahead to purchase the card from an online vendor.

Xbox live Gold 12 month card
5 Star Review   By member yophoto91 - Apr 6, 2007

Strengths: Online play is usually lag free, Xbox Liver marketplace is awesome, internet service superior to Sony’s.

Weakness: You have to pay to play online!!!! But in the end you’re getting a better online experience because of this.

Yes, it stinks that you have to play to play online but you are getting your money’s worth if you play often enough. Games (like Gears of War) are usually lag free depending on the host. The overall experience is better than playing on a PC in my opinion. Highly recommended.
