Must have item for Xbox 360 users
4 Star Review   By member gameenthusiast - Aug 13, 2009

Strengths: i could fully take advantage of the online downloads from xbox live

Weakness: the price is currently a bit high

A nice, if not overpriced, accessory for the Xbox 360. Plenty of storage space for whatever you are looking to do (music, movies, save games, demos), and it integrates with the 360 exactly as the 20GB drive did. Transferring files from the 20GB to the 120GB was simple and took less than an hour, and all the content from my original drive transferred over properly. I only gave it three stars because I feel it is way overpriced... I bought one because Amazon had it as their deal of the day and I saved forty bucks off the regular price. MS is kind of taking advantage of users by making their HD proprietary. It would be much better if we could just attach external HD's via USB. Btw, I have used this one for stuff ... www.gameyeeeah.com/... . ... Hope that helps …

Used 360 120GB drive
4 Star Review

Strengths: It works as expected.

Weakness: None noted

It couldn't have been more cosmetically damaged. Also, the warranty seal was half off. While I'm not saying the drive was tampered with, it doesn't look good. Delivery of the product was late, but the seller compensated me with a free month of Gamefly. Thanks!

XBOX 360 120GB Hard Drive
4 Star Review   By member kettlerp - Mar 5, 2008

Strengths: The retail 120GB Hard Drive upgrade kit gives a full 20GB owner about 95GB more space after the one-time 20GB to 120GB transfer.

Weakness: None so far. Rumor has it some content doesn't work when not logged into Live, but I tested a few games and themes offline. They work fine.

I was tired of being out of space on my 360 HDD. For $145 shipped, I couldn't pass up this upgrade. The upgrade went smoothly. It takes about an hour to transfer the original 20GB hard disk's contents to the 120GB disk. After that, the 20GB disk is left wiped clean and the 120GB disk contains all the 20GB disk's content. The content I've tested so far works fine when not logged into Live.

A ton of room
4 Star Review   By member mchenoweth16 - Jan 8, 2008

Strengths: huge amount of space for games, movies, and more

Weakness: the price

If you are tired of running out of memory when you want to download the latest demo or movie from XBox Live, this is your answer. With 120GB of space, you can keep a whole lot more game demos, movies, music, and pictures, without the need to clean out files every time you want to download something. It looks and fits just like the 20GB hard drive that comes with the pro package with the exception of the 120 GB label. The package comes with a transfer cable and software so you can move all of the data from your current 20 GB hard drive to your new 120 GB hard drive. With my 20 GB drive about 90% full it took about 45 minutes for mine to transfer. The only real drawback is the price. Having already paid about $350 for the console, another $180 is kinda hard to swallow.

Awesome more room for my xbox 360!!!!!!
4 Star Review   By member Do it for the Kids - Dec 6, 2007

Strengths: Its large size allows me to download more of xbox lives content. I can store mp3 and videos. Now that Xbox plays divx movies i can store it on the hard drive and watch it with out my computer

Weakness: Very expensive, it takes about 1hr and 30 min to transfer from my 20gb to the 120gb. You don't actually get a full 120gb only 99gb

I bought this hard drive so that i could fully take advantage of the online downloads from xbox live. The 20gb was sufficient for the first 1st year but since then I've had to manage the space available. Setting up the drive to transfer from the 20gb to the 120gb was easy and simple. However it took over 1 hr and 30 min to transfer only 20gb. This upgrade has freed up my time worrying about the space available and allowed me to play more and watch more of the xbox live content. I have been also taking advantages of xbox 360 divx playback storing divx movies on the hard drive. Playing music is also much better now that i don't have to stream it from my computer. They say that their planning to introduce IPTV for the xbox service and that the 120gb would take advantage of the service. I cant wait for them to relase that feature.

Storage-o-rama
5 Star Review   By member dafunkk12 - Oct 29, 2007

Strengths: Capacious; straightforward install & upgrade

Weakness: relatively high cost

Because one cannot install a regular computer hard drive on a non-modified system, you mustn't take the price of this drive into account when considering value. (Although if you don't already have a system and want the 120gb hard drive, the Elite model will give you more bang for the buck.) That being said, once installed, you can download everything you could ever want without batting an eye. Because, with the exception of ripped CDs, the Xbox 360 streams media to the machine, you cannot fill up the drive with your media, leaving it available for game-related downloads. Once MS begins its IPTV/DVR program, the available space may seem insufficient, but for now, it's plenty for even the biggest packrat.

3 Star Review   By member jimmer6771 - Sep 28, 2007

Strengths: Lots of storage space for game and marketplace content, music, movies, etc.

Weakness: Price. Unless you grab it on a deal somewhere the price for what is essentially a 120GB external HD is ridiculous.

A nice, if not overpriced, accessory for the Xbox 360. Plenty of storage space for whatever you are looking to do (music, movies, save games, demos), and it integrates with the 360 exactly as the 20GB drive did. Download Until Your Heart's Content!
4 Star Review   By member Bullettime - Aug 29, 2007

Strengths: Spacious drive gives you plenty of breathing room

Weakness: Expensive compared to a conventional 120GB hard drive; preloaded with fluff

Upgrading from the 20GB drive to the 120GB drive is a smooth, painless experience. The extra space afforded lets Video Marketplace fanatics and XBLA junkies download until they're blue in the face. What's more, it's nice to download all the latest demos (many of which are over 1GB) without having to delete them immediately afterward to free up space for the next batch. And maybe I'm just imagining things, but the 120GB drive seems to run more efficiently than my old 20GB drive. I just wish I could have avoided the hassle of deleting all the junk Microsoft pre-installed on the drive. And would it have killed them to price this just a wee bit lower?!

XBox 360 120GB Hard Drive
3 Star Review   By member davepacman - Aug 8, 2007

Strengths: Bigger than the standard drive (which is way to small with most of the 20GB already filled). Easy to attach.

Weakness: You lose the preloaded content on the new drive if you use the transfer software. Transfer software could fail and lose all your old data permenantly.

Bought this as an upgrade so that I could download content from Live. The transfer software has easy enough instructions and said that it completed correctly (which erases the content from the original drive); but when I tried to load from the new drive it would no longer be recognized by the 360. I ended up having to get a replacement which I just plugged in and used (I no longer had anything left to transfer and this kept the bonus content intact too). I've heard the transfer software works well; but be forewarned if it doesn't.

Great Upgrade - No longer worry about storage space
4 Star Review   By member whipace - Jun 15, 2007

Strengths: Absolutely no decrease in performance, 6 times the capacity of the original, very easy setup and transfer

Weakness: Price

This hard drive is a great upgrade for anyone who has a Core or Premium system, and it gives you enough space to not have to constantly manage your data storage. Performance is no different than the 20gb hard drive, yet it has 6x capacity. Rather pricey for its size, but cheaper than buying an Elite.

X box 360 120 gb Hard Drive
4 Star Review   By member eunderwood - May 23, 2007

Strengths: It's a great addition to the Xbox 360 providing space for additonal demos, photos and music.

Weakness: What do you do with the old 20 gb hard drive?

For those who have decided not to purchase the 360 Elite, it is a great addition. I had only 5.5 gb of hard drive capacity remaining on the original 20 gb hard drive and would have been forced to delete files soon. This product is a snap to install, transfered all my old files from the smaller hard drive in about 45 minutes and operates flawlessly.

Xbox 360 120 GBB Hard Drive
4 Star Review   By member ready2run2 - May 16, 2007

The Xbox 360 120 GB HDD is a nice accessory for those who download and bunch of stuff on their Xbox 360. It has enough space for all of your music, movies, arcade games, and saves. I would really only recommend this for those who who download HD movies or just do not want to delete content off of their hard drive. Average time to transfer data between hdd's is from 40 minutes to 90 minutes.
