4 Star Review  bonafidereviews.com - Sep 4, 2007

Most of those articles though make outrageous claims that I can only begin to surmise, were made without actually PLAYING Metroid Prime 3, and with the increasing number of review based scandals out there, it really wouldn't surprise me. I can tell you a good portion of the statements you'll find in random reviews out there are kind of bupkus, myths at best. Luckily there are two people I know who make it their business to prove or disprove myths, Adam and Jamie from the Myth Busters (copyright Discovery Channel). Unnnnfortunatley they were unavailable for comment, so I'll just have to do this review in Mythbusters style in their place.

This is an okay game
5 Star Review   By member Tomoyochan - Mar 12, 2008

Strengths: classic series. Nintendo fanboys love this game.

Weakness: metroid price makes me dizzy. I didn't play it that much. I didn't like the ball.

I didn't really give this game a try. I played it for a few minutes, but it made me to dizzy to play more than 15 mins. I wouldn't recommend it if you get motion sickness easily. I hear it is a really good game though.

Metroid Prime 3
5 Star Review   By member mojave - Jan 1, 2008

Strengths: Awesome first person adventure for Wii, great graphics and control

This is my favorite Wii game so far, even above Super Mario Galaxy. I enjoyed Metroid Prime on the Gamecube quite a bit but never finished it. This game I completed with 100% of the pickups and had a blast doing so. The graphics, for a Wii game, are amazing and the control is spot on. The game is in the first-person perspective. You move Samus using the Nunchuk controller and point the Wii remote to aim, turn, and of course, shoot. This works flawlessly and is a model for all future first-person games. There are additional Wii remote actions as well - you can pull on the nunchuk to rip shields from Space Pirates, and use various other motions to unlock doors and interact with other objects. While these are not as integral to the gameplay as the Wii remote shooting mechanic, they add to the immersion of the game. As usual with Metroid, as you progress through the game you pick up additional health tanks and power ups that give you access to more areas. The big new addition to the gameplay is the Phazon corruption. You can become temporarily more powerful but must be careful using it as it drains your health. As a result, some of the boss fights are fairly challenging (because they require the use of this power that you don't use in most of the rest of the game). Fortunately there are multiple difficulty levels so both the newcomer and Metroid veteran will be satisfied with the difficulty. All in all, this is definitely one of the best Wii games out there and one of the best games for all systems in 2007. Buy it!

Best Metroid ever?
5 Star Review   By member botticus - Dec 5, 2007

Strengths: Perfect controls, excellent graphics, good learning curve

Weakness: Door-loading takes you out of the experience

Metroid Prime 3 is the first 3D Metroid game I completed, and will likely be the last. There's no way to return to the analog stick aiming of the GameCube games after experiencing the near-perfect Wiimote pointer. Controls aside, the action and story are top-notch, with the lack of fetch quests interrupting your exploring a huge positive. Wii owners and fans of the series should buy this.

The Best of the Prime Trilogy
5 Star Review   By member SpazX - Nov 24, 2007

Strengths: Great controls, great graphics, great everything

Weakness: Loading takes too long at some of the doors...I think that's the only real weakness

One of the best games for the Wii. The controls are done fantastically, it's far better with the Wii remote than with a traditional dual-analog gamepad. The graphics are very well done, improving from Metroid Prime 2 and showing that the Wii has enough power to keep games looking decent. The game itself is a blast to play, especially for anybody who loved Prime and Prime 2. The formula is basically the same with some different controls and abilities. The stacking beams are much better than the beam abilities from Prime and Prime 2 since you don't have to bother changing them to get the right one for the door or ability you're looking for. The addition of ship control makes the game that much more fun. My only complaint is that it takes too long to load some doors and you have to wait for them to open to go on to the next section of the level. Other than that it's a fantastic game and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)
5 Star Review   By member cotebryan - Nov 19, 2007

Strengths: (1) Excellent controls when "Sensitivity" setting is set to "Advanced" (2) A long game that never gets dull

Weakness: (1) None

Metroid fans know why the Prime series is so captivating and everything about it only gets better with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. For series veterans, it relies on much of the tried-and-true, if somewhat formulaic, gameplay elements but adds plenty of surprising additions. First off, I love the way this game controls! Though the story is not exceptional, I was totally immersed in the game due to its fantastic control and excellent level, combat, enemy and puzzle design. To that effect, this is the only game that pulled me in more than Bioshock did this year. If you have not played a game in the Metroid Prime series before, you are really in for a treat as the series-reoccurring power ups and abilities are simply awesome and well implemented but those who have played the previous games are well used to these old standbys by now. If you have played the previous games, I recommend playing on the "veteran" setting.

Metroid Prime 3 Review
5 Star Review   By member edhoo - Nov 9, 2007

Strengths: Next step in the Metroid franchise

Weakness: Controls are awkward at first

Metroid Prime 3 is the third sequel in a very good franchise of Metroid Prime, this time, on the Wii. The controls can seem a little strange at first but once you play for an hour or two they will seem much more intuitive and become very responsive. Retro Studios did a great job utilizing the power of the Wii in making a game that looks good, and is fun to play. The game has decent length for a FPS and will keep you occupied for a while. I highly recommend this to FPS fans.

Wii's best game yet?
5 Star Review   By member zmonkay - Oct 29, 2007

Strengths: Simply amazing graphics, near perfect control, great homages to previous Metroid games

Weakness: Controls take a little getting used to, too too too linear, short, and easy compared to previous efforts

I had a blast with this game. It is easily and experience that can't be missed. From graphics better than anything else on the system, and rivaling many games on 360 and PS3, a control system that, once you get over the learning curve, makes it difficult to play FPS's with a standard controller, and old fashioned fun stuffed in every corner, this is an amazing game. Problem is, it's like a "My First Metroid", with highly linear (and fairly small, sectioned off) level design, easier enemies (though the superior aiming system may be the true cause of this) and too many hints (Here's one: turn of the hint system, you'll thank me later). Still, worth every penny, and an amazing experience overall.

Strengths: Fun action. Great visuals. Good controls.

Weakness: Not many.

Metroid Prime Corruption wants to do one thing and that's be itself. It looks and plays great, but in a way that doesn't try to emulate other shooters for other consoles. Its unique controls and visuals give it a flair all its own. If you have a Wii, whether you've played the previous metroid games ot not, I highly recomment Corruption.

4 Star Review   By member sylvan37 - Sep 30, 2007

Weakness: Gets a bit repetitive sometime

MP3: Corruption
5 Star Review   By member trunks982 - Sep 22, 2007

Strengths: graphics, story, controls

Weakness: shorter than the first 2 primes

This is one of the best Wii game ever. The controls are great for this game. To play using the best controls, make sure you go to options to change it to advance mode. That way it moves faster and smoothly. You can easily dodge or aim faster. This game was mentioned to have online multiplay but later on they took it off. That wasn't a big issue at all. This game is meant to be a single player game. This game is beautiful. It has great visuals of the atmosphere. The only problem is that it is a bit short. I beat it in 15 hours for the first play through. So pick up this great game if you like first person style.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Best Wii first person game yet
5 Star Review   By member Charlemagne7 - Sep 22, 2007

Strengths: Awesome controls, great graphics, all around fun gameplay.

Weakness: Not a game for the casual crowd.

Metroid Prime 3 is the first of the big 3 (the others being Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl) that Nintendo is offering for the holiday season. After playing this game, it no doubt belongs in this popular trio. Metroid Prime 3 is a first person shooter/adventurer that really defines the Wiimote and nunchuck as an advancement over the dual analog setup that gamers have been used to over the years for first person games. Point the Wiimote for Samus's weapon and use the analog nunchuck to move around. Hit the down button the D pad for missles and the minus button for her different visors. There's going to be a slight learning curve for these controls but after that, it'll be hard to go back to a more traditional setup. The graphics are great for a system that's in an entirely different league that the other two current systems. I'd like to see a modern day FPS using the graphics that Metroid Prime 3 shows off. The soundtrack is pretty cool at times, bordering on epic during certain points in the game. There's also voice overs for NPCs, which is new for the series. Nothing special to write home about though. Overall Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is an awesome game and a must buy for the older Wii crowd.

Great Game Despite Flaws
4 Star Review   By member Schwowsers - Sep 17, 2007

Strengths: Visuals, controls, level design

Weakness: Awful AI and combat. One of the planets is confusing due to all the rooms looking similar.

The first Metroid Prime is my favorite game to date, and while Metroid Prime 3 is a great follow up and a jump forward for the series in a couple areas, it also feels a bit stale in others. First off, the new controls offered by the Wii remote are fantastic. They take a little getting used to at first, but they quickly become second nature. This game really convinced me that the Wii remote is the future for console FPS games. Next, the visuals are stunning, thanks to incredible art direction. It's by far the best looking game on Wii, and while that may not be saying much, it truly is beautiful. Now for the negatives. The combat has not progressed at all since the first Metroid Prime, which is to say it's still awful. The enemies just stand there and shoot brainlessly. To have this terrible of AI in an FPS these days is pathetic. Also, for the first time in a Prime game, one of the areas looks too similar throughout. The rooms on planet Elysia all look very similar which makes navigating this area a pain. You'll likely find yourself looking at your map every two minutes trying to find out where you are. Overall it's a great game, especially for those who enjoyed the previous Metroid Prime games.

Metroid Prime 3 Review
5 Star Review   By member rarerules - Sep 16, 2007

Strengths: - Control Scheme - Graphics - Storyline

Weakness: - Backtracking in levels - Not much else!

Metroid Prime 3 is the final game in the "Prime" trilogy, and is most certainly the best. It is the first game to really show off how first person shooter/adventure games should be done on the Wii. All you have to do is "point and fire" and Samus (the main character) will respond accordingly. The game is high quality, as is usual of a Nintendo product, and is a must-buy for fans of first-person shooters and high quality games in general.

The Wii Game Drought Is Over!
5 Star Review   By member THams - Sep 16, 2007

Strengths: Control, music, atmosphere, story, graphics, etc.

Weakness: Little bit of backtracking and the friend vouchers are annoying

Amazing, that's how I'd describe this game. If you like the first two Metroid Primes, you'll love this one as well. Even if you didn't like the first two games, you'll probably still enjoy this title. The controls are beautiful; this is the level of control that other first-person Wii titles need to aspire to. The atmosphere and story are quite compelling and so is the music. This is also one of the pretty titles on the Wii and does a great job of showing what the Wii is capable of. Although it's not as shiny as 360 or PS3 games, the art direction more than makes up for it. Rent, buy, borrow this game, whatever, you won't be disappointed.

The last and possibly best?
4 Star Review   By member mirado182 - Sep 15, 2007

Strengths: Graphics and Controls

Weakness: No multiplayer, but that's all for weaknesses

Surprisingly, the Wiimote + Nunchuck combo really works well for this game. It pretty solid and precise. It really makes it feel more interactive. The game is very enjoyable and voice acting makes the game feel more realistic. I couldn't quite get into the first two Metroid Primes, but I find this enjoyable.

Wii Metroid Prime Corruption
5 Star Review   By member toocool17 - Sep 14, 2007

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: No Multiplayer

This is one of the best games out for the Wii. The graphics were great and the gameplay was a bit challenging. The game did seem a bit short but you will get your money's worth. The controls are also great. The only bad thing about the game is that there is no multiplayer mode. This has a high replay value, you won't be disappointed.

Strengths: -Great graphics -Great gameplay -Responsive controls

Weakness: -lack of multi-player ( made up with awesome 1st player campaign)

This is my first Metroid Prime game, and i must say, it is pretty fun. Entertaining mechanics, and it looks nice too. Samus is here to stay, hopefully yet another sequel will be made. Would recommend to all.

Great way to end the Prime trilogy
5 Star Review   By member Rig85 - Sep 6, 2007

Strengths: Excellent puzzles Tight controls Interesting storyline

Weakness: A tad short

If you have played either of the first two Metroid Prime games, you know what to expect. This time, however, you get to use Wii controls to control Samus. It feels a bit strange at first, but doesn't take long to get used to. A great storyline and fantastic puzzles make this a wonderful game worth every penny.

An Amazing Game
5 Star Review   By member boglins - Sep 4, 2007

Strengths: Very good controls, Stunning visuals

Weakness: no multiplayer mode

Not only is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption a great Metroid game, it's one of the best games currently on the Wii. The 1st person shooter controls take a bit to get used to, but there are different settings that allow players to choose from. Visually, the game looks stunning. My only main complaint is that there is no multiplayer mode...online or otherwise. Prime 3 is still a great game, but a multiplayer mode would greatly add to the replay value.

5 Star Review   By member tpino84 - Sep 4, 2007

Strengths: The controls in this game are what absolutely MAKE this game! Great story, great graphics, and is a ton of fun! The controls work so well, it's going to be what future FPS games will be compared to.

Weakness: There should be at LEAST a local multi-player mode. WiFi would have been perfect, but they didn't throw any type of multi-player. Not a big deal, but they could of done it!

This game is a ton of fun. It just has so much "Metroid" feel to it. The sounds, the puzzles..just about everything brings you back to what Metroid used to be. This is def the new MUST HAVE game for the Wii and is going to be the EPITOME of what a FPS game SHOULD be. I can't recommend this game anymore! P.S. I'm not even a fan of FPS games! What's THAT say?!

Best Wii game to date!
5 Star Review   By member mkernan - Sep 4, 2007

Strengths: Best-looking game for the Wii so far, without a doubt. Same great core game mechanics from the first two Prime games but with awesome controls and other new features.

Weakness: I personally would have liked a multiplayer mode, but that's my only complaint really.

If you were a fan of the first two Metroid Prime games, you'll undoubtedly love this one too. If you own a Wii, you must buy this game. It is easily the best game available for the system to date. Prime 3 doesn't stray too far from the forumla created by the original Metroid Prime, but it does offer some of the most enjoyable gameplay I've ever experienced. The way the Wii remote and nunchuck are utilized makes the game a pleasure to play. This time around, its a little more action oriented with slightly less emphasis on exploration. Some may not like this, but I've actually found it to be a welcome addition when combined with the new control scheme. Bottom line: if you want the best looking Wii game, an action-packed shooter/adventure, or just want the final installment of the Metroid Prime trilogy then get this game.

Best in the series
5 Star Review   By member DanMcgrath - Sep 3, 2007

Strengths: Best graphics on the Wii, non-stop action, epic boss battles, fun puzzles, 20+ hours.

Weakness: Has a bit of a learning curve mastering the new controls. Can feel a bit repetitive. Scanning things gets a bit redundant.

Without a doubt the best game available for the Wii, and a must own. Stellar graphics, a cool soundtrack, and some top notch FPS controls makes it stand out from all the other shooter game competition. Worth every penny, and possibly one of the longest FPS games ever.

Best FPS for the Wii
5 Star Review   By member JDLion - Aug 29, 2007

Strengths: Best graphics for Wii, the use of the wiimote and nunchuck are clever, voice acting is great, and pacing of the game is quick.

Weakness: Controls

This could be the best FPS for the Wii so far. It better than the previous Prime games in almost every way. You still need to scan things to get 100% in the game. The controls does take a while to get used to. I find my screen constantly moving because as you move the cursor in one direction, the screen starts to move in that direction too, but once you get the hang of it it's much better than holding R to aim or being able to shot only at the target you locked on to.

WOW the trilogy goes out with a bang!
4 Star Review   By member c0urage0us - Aug 29, 2007

Strengths: Best use of Wii controls in a FPS and best looking Wii game yet

Weakness: Short, more of the same,

MP3, not much needs to be said about the latest Metroid Prime game. With the added Wii controls it certainly becomes a new beast, but it makes it a much more tame beast. My favorite thing about this is how much more faster it moves than your traditional Metroid game. You still do have the exploring and open ended feeling, but its just much more action packed and it feels more rewarding. Prime fans definitely should pick it up and anyone else who just needs a new Wii game to play, its no question this is what you should play.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
5 Star Review   By member BigA12989 - Aug 28, 2007

Strengths: Great, innovative controls. Good graphics (at least for the Wii). Relatively lengthy. A more fleshed out story than the previous titles

Weakness: Boring fetch quest that takes way too long. Load times in front of doors can become annoying.

Despite the few flaws, this game is awesome. With the Wiimote this game is unlike another other FPS, not to mention it is infused with puzzle elements (unlike typical shooters where you just run around blindly shooting everything you see). Definitely a must buy!

Amazing
4 Star Review   By member mattstockton12 - Aug 28, 2007

Strengths: Great controls Sw33t graphics (for Wii anyway) Great Bosses Samus!

Weakness: More of the same

I had been a little worried about the lackluster control found in most first person games on the Wii, but then Metroid Prime 3 came along! Now we finally have a proper controlling game that contains adequate amounts of awesome to boot. Highly recommended! The other two games in the series are no slouch either, so give them a try as well.
