Madden NFL 07
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 29, 2006

Just as the seasons change, people expect to see the latest update in the EA sports roster, especially with the introduction of a new gaming console. With the launch of the new Nintendo Wii console people were wondering how Madden football would change, and how it would incorporate the new motion sensor control scheme. People wondered if the controls would be too gimmicky after playing it for a while, and how would the game stand up to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions since the Wii has less graphical horsepower. Well after playing with the game for many hours you can put all your fears at ease as Madden NFL 07 for the Nintendo Wii is one of the best versions I have played this year.

Respectable effort towards waggle support
4 Star Review   By member dubbfoolio - Nov 26, 2007

Strengths: motion controls add a fun new element to a tired old franchise

Weakness: graphics, difficulty

Madden has been around for years and improves slowly through yearly updates to the rosters and controls. This has made the controls quite complex on other systems but here they make a pretty good effort at introducing intuitive and natural motion controls and this makes the wii version the one to buy.

Big Name but not so fun as xbox 360
5 Star Review   By member shazakh - Aug 24, 2007

Strengths: graphics, sound and movement

Weakness: too many buttons to push to control players and you end up hitting the wrong button as crucial time.

I would give it a 5 star just because, but because I have played alot of other older versions, this one ranks on the top in graphics, and sound, and the extensive types of movements you can do; which brings me to the down fall for this game... Just too many, and poorly organized options. It just get's confusing at times. You can drive the ball for 60 yards and you will be 1st and Goal, and might very well end up 3rd and 27, just because of the sensetivity of the controls. I admit it is not all the fault of the game, but with too many buttons to push, you are bound to hit the wrong one. Confused, well I'm sorry, it's just a fun game to play (because I am a Fan), but just get's to you sometimes. It's a rollercoaster, and with that I just can't give it a 5 star.

Madden series reinvented
4 Star Review   By member natehulse - Jul 12, 2007

Strengths: Cool new moves, lots of motion twists on a franchise that had gotten a little stale

Weakness: Defense is nearly impossible

The Wii controller makes this a whole new game again... throwing passes, hiking the ball... it makes for a lot of fun. Graphics are a bit sub-par and defense is really hard to play, but all in all, the freshness of the control scheme makes this a very playable game with lots of replay value.

Madden and the Wii. Is it even possible for the two to mix?
4 Star Review   By member CrashSpyro123 - May 25, 2007

Strengths: The fresh Madden experience on the Wii, the fun offensive controls, and the myriad of modes to sink many hours into.

Weakness: The convoluted defensive controls and weak graphics.

Madden 07 for the Wii may be just innovative enough to require a second purchase of the game. This is in comparison to the many other versions available out there. However, while it’s not going to be a technical marvel in any aspect, the fun offensive controls make up for it. The potential is huge for Madden 08 to step it up and go for the two point conversion with online play and intuitive defensive controls. Until then, the Madden 07 test for the sports game market on the Wii is a successful one. Tell the rest of the sports developers to go ahead with their games and make the Wii the place for the sports fans to get their fix.

A refreshing take on Madden
4 Star Review   By member botticus - May 8, 2007

Strengths: Excellent motion controls on offense, most fun version of Madden I've played in years

Weakness: Defensive controls aren't as precise as offense - not any worse than previous versions, however

The first EA game on the Wii was an excellent one. The motion control in this game really exemplified how the Wii can make the same games we've all played before a lot more fun. The snapping, passing, juking, stiff-arming, etc are all extremely well done, allowing Madden vets to get further into the game, while not scaring away newcomers (to the Wii or to Madden). On defense (and in catching on offense), the controls are not as precise, but I've had the same problems with the PC iterations of the game for years. Kicking takes some finesse to line up appropriately, but it simply requires skill, it's far from broken. The only thing missing from this game is online play. Hopefully it will be included in 08, making that the definitive version. Until then, pick this up cheap!

5 Star Review   By member Advo02 - Apr 22, 2007

Strengths: Great game experience, lots of fun, totally new twist on a great franchise

Weakness: Not always easy to play, there is a definite learning curve

The Wii is a spectacular game system and Madden takes full advantage of what it can do. This game is a lot of fun because it lets you really get into it, from throwing and catching to tackling and kicking. I highly recommend it.

This Madden Jukes the Competition.
3 Star Review   By member Admiral_Ackbar - Mar 19, 2007

Strengths: Interesting gameplay. Very intuitive controls. Fun Minigames. Challenging AI.

Weakness: Controls can be finnicky. Poor graphics. Buggy

I'm not a sports fanatic and I usually ignore sports games. I haven't played them since college a couple years ago. But I had to try Madden for the Wii after seeing a video of it beign played. The cool thing about Madden for the Wii is that you make football moves with the remote. You hold ot an arm to make a stiff-arm. You raise your arms to make a catch. At times the controls are a little finnicky. But it's an interesting change in the familiar Madden gameplay. The graphics are poor. I don't mean not as good as the PS3 or 360. Overall, they're not done well. Also the game is buggy and will lock up on occasion. But it's really about a major change in gaming style and it's a lot of fun when it works. There are also some cool mini games too. I like it, but to be honest, I would wait until next years version.

Madden 07 for Wii, good launch game but not the best out there
4 Star Review   By member xxtenchixx - Mar 1, 2007

Strengths: Wii control and nunchuk use, realism of the game, intuitive controls for a Madden format that has been tried and true, Multiplayer aspect

Weakness: Multiplayer format (each player can see all of the other players picks for plays), game can become slow at times (1 game usually takes 30-45 min), learning curve for controls

Madden 07 for Wii is one of the best launch titles that came out with Wii. It is a fun game especially with friends, but it is not a fast moving sports game. It is realistic in a sense that you have to plan your plays and attempt to be an offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator. The positive aspects aside, the controls are sometimes unresponsive and take quite awhile to use. After 10-15+ hrs of use the player may start trying to catch the ball, but the computer is so much better at making plays happen that it is easy to default to letting the computer take control of 90% of the game.

Refreshing revamp of longtime franchise
5 Star Review   By member Anonymous - Feb 19, 2007

Strengths: New motion controls are easy, intuitive and fun; great extra one-on-one minigames not found in any other console version; solid soundtrack and voice acting

Weakness: Menus - before and during games - often freeze briefly; graphics are low-quality

The sturdy "Madden" football video game franchise long has been considered the best. But in recent years, it has taken criticism for resting on its laurels and getting complacent – not anymore. The Wii version of "Madden 07" is completely revamped. Yes, it's a port of the GameCube version, but saying that doesn't do it justice. EA Sports created a separate division to handle the conversion to motion controls for the Wii version, and it really shows. The old standbys are there - Franchise mode, Superstar mode, Madden Cards for achievements and minicamp to hone your football skills. But it's the new additions that really make the Wii version shine - and once you use the Wii remote to play "Madden," button-mashing will seem prehistoric and will never be as fulfilling again. Want to throw a pass? Make a throwing motion - the faster you do it, the faster the pass. Want to stiff-arm a defender? Stick your arm out to the side for real and it happens on the screen. You even can practice your kicking at the in-game pause menu for as long as you want before you do it for real in the game by swinging the remote upward. Kicking is the only halfway difficult move to master - and with some practice, anyone can get the timing down. But the best part of the Wii version of "Madden 07" is the multiplayer minigames that can be found only in this version. You can play one-on-one against your friends - like pickup football. This is remarkably fun and it alone is worth the price of the game.

Madden 07 for Wii
4 Star Review   By member gmutton - Feb 16, 2007

Strengths: Smooth gameplay and graphics, easy to make moves with the Wiimote.

Weakness: Kicking game is difficult and inconsistent

The first Madden game for Wii is the latest in the long running franchise. Controlling the action with the motion sensing Wiimote takes some getting used to and is a big change from the button mashing found in past Madden games. With a bit of practice though, it becomes completely intuitive and you will wonder how you used to play Madden without a Wiimote. Making hits and jukes is so easy with the Wiimote. The kicking game does freak out on you from time to time and could use some refinement. Occasionally your kicks will hook or slice even if you have everything lined up and timed perfectly.
