Lemmings
4 Star Review  GameZone - May 25, 2006

If you’ve heard of the Lemmings, chances are you managed to catch it in some form or another on a computer and gaming console that ranges from the Commodore Amiga to the likes of the 3DO. For the past 15 years, this puzzle/platform game has developed quite a following and the simple reason is that the game is just plain addictively fun. Of course, it didn’t take long for the Lemmings to show up on Sony’s PSP and having been playing this game for various hours straight it just proves that the game is still just a fun then as it was back in the day and even more so on the PSP.

Lemmings
4 Star Review   By member mj_f - May 30, 2008

Strengths: Beautiful graphics on this updated classic - 150 levels in all.

Weakness: Still basically the same game that has been around for a while.

If you've never played a Lemmings game, then this version is a great choice. Same goes if you've played it in the past and really liked it as this is the definitive version now. It has some new levels, and superb enhanced graphics on the little PSP screen. It is also a perfect match for handheld play as each level generally only takes a few minuted to complete (or at least to attempt). This is essentially a puzzle game: you must guide a group of creatures around various obstacles and hazards towards an exit on each level. You do this by assigning different tasks (bashing, digging, etc). Most of the levels (120 of them in fact) are from the previous games so if you have played them much in the past there is little new here except the enhanced graphics. Also, the lack of mouse control (as this was originally a PC game) makes control a bit more difficult. While there is no multiplayer option, there is a level editor which you can use to create levels and even upload them online. You can also download new levels to play, adding some longevity to the game.

Lemmings goes portable
3 Star Review   By member Vtdgnca - Feb 14, 2008

Strengths: + lots of levels to choose from + level editor lets you customize your levels + new dowloadable levels as well

Weakness: - controls may seem akward at first - use of analog doesn't seem that polished

Lemmings has came along way until up to today. The simple goal is to guide those green guys with every tool which ranges from climbing, digging, bombing onto each way to the next level. Each lemming can also be given different jobs of course. Once proceeding to the higher the stages, the difficulty becomes really tricky. Past previous lemmings games have been pretty much the same, either love it or hate it.

Lemmings PSP
5 Star Review   By member eau697 - Feb 14, 2008

Strengths: Tons of levels, improved graphics

Lemmings has long been a classic in the long running history of video games. This recarniation of Lemmings has found a home on the Sony PSP platform and it definitely deserves a fresh look again. Lemmings on PSP features 150+ levels including the 120 classic levels plus 30+ new levels. This puzzle game is still surprisingly amazing and fresh. The graphics is much improved. There is also additional content available for download (for a cost?). A level editor has been added to allow players to design their own puzzles. This version of Lemmings is no doubt a nice addition to everyone's puzzle game library. I'm very impressed with it and I'm sure you will be as well.

A fine handheld update to an old computer game. . .
4 Star Review   By member MadWolfie01 - Nov 14, 2007

Strengths: 150+ levels, solid audio/graphics, level designer/online sharing, new content available for download

Weakness: No multiplayer support, mostly classic levels, some content downloads cost $

Lemmings the game has been around since the early 1990s, but it's still an amusing puzzle game, especially on a handheld. This PSP version gives players 120 of the classic levels, 36 new levels and allows you to create and share your own online. The graphics and visuals are solid without offering anything fancy or new in the process, and you can currently download two more free levels from the publisher. It's just a shame they didn't include any multiplayer support in this release given the PSP's online capabilities. Puzzle fans should certainly pick this one up. You won't find a better handheld version of this, and the retail price has started to come down to a reasonable level.

Lemmings On The Go Like Never Before
4 Star Review   By member FOnewearl - Nov 3, 2007

Strengths: Redone Graphics, 30 New Levels, Level Editor

Weakness: No 2 Player Mode

Lemmings is a puzzle game that has been on many systems before and is very original considering that it's not a puzzle game that barrows from Tetris has many puzzle games tend to do. You will have a group of Lemmings that will automatically move forward even if it's to death that you will have to assign different jobs to in order for them to lead them all to the end of each level without getting killed. The graphics have been updated giving it a new look. The game also include all 120 levels along with 30 new levels and a level editor in which you can make new levels giving the game endless replay for those that have the will to create new levels to play though. I would highly recommend Lemmings to fans of the series and seriously recommend trying it to gamers that have never a Lemmings before.

Excellent old-school puzzler for the PSP
5 Star Review   By member justin42 - Oct 30, 2007

Strengths: Classic Lemmings gameplay on a portable, still a really good game after all these years, looks gorgeous on the PSP

Weakness: Really too bad it's not on the DS to benefit from the touch screen

Lemmings is a definite "classic" in the annals of video games-- it came out for computers over a decade ago and over time has been slowly ported to a huge number of different systems. You are helping to guide a group of Lemmings through a series of weird landscapes, and your goal is to keep as many alive as possible while using various individual Lemmings to do specific tasks (dig, tunnel, etc). You only get a very small number of abilities to assign so you have to do it carefully and judge what abilities will help push the most Lemmings into the final exit of the level. Lemmings uses a slightly strange control scheme (it's really too bad that this game will probably never come out on the Nintendo DS as it would be perfect) which hampers it a bit, and while there are new levels there's not really much new to the game. That said, Lemmings has never looked as beautiful as it does on the PSP, and it's a classic. If you have never played it before, or it's been long enough that you've forgotten the majority of the game, definitely get this game!

Lemmings
5 Star Review   By member docmav - Oct 15, 2007

Strengths: Well done game. The only Lemmings out for the PSP.

Weakness: Gets hard some levels

I played the first Lemmings when it came out on the PC. Very addicting seeing these little green guys jump off cliffs and fall to their demise yet to rise up again. Lemmings is a nice spin on puzzle and thinking games. The goal each level is to save the Lemmings by selection what ability you want a certain lemming to do. Very impressed with the presentation on the PSP. Lemmings is hard to find in most stores. Definitely a MUST BUY.
