The Warriors
4 Star Review  GameZone - Feb 20, 2007

It was destined to be a meeting that would change everything for the hundred or so gangs in attendance but the man known as Cyrus - a gang leader that meant to unite them all - was shot dead in the middle of his speech. Within seconds, chaos erupts and it is a gang straight out of Coney Island called The Warriors that is blamed for the murder of Cyrus. The game based on the cult classic Walter Hill movie has come to consoles last year but now it’s come to PSP. Can you dig it? Like the console version, The Warriors on the PSP follows the gang’s history and the days that lead up to the events seen in the movie.

Rumble Retro Fighting
4 Star Review   By member TokioB - Aug 1, 2008

Strengths: Graphics. Retro Music. So many ways to beat someone up.

Weakness: Controls can be twitchy. A bit too much profanity.

Now here's a game that isn't afraid of dropping the F bomb in dialog here and there as you go around fighting rival gang members in 1979 New York City. I was a little surprised by how much profanity was used in the game. I'm not offended, but just letting you know off the bat. * I've never seen the movie the game is based on, but they've done a nice job of making a very interactive experience that feels like you are part of the action from the start of the opening credits. Choose a gang you want to join and then have at it. * The Warriors is definitely for more mature players who don't mind beating people up, robbing stores and basically being a hoodlum as you work up the ranks. * Controls on the PSP can be hit or miss as I had trouble "mugging" random pedestrians during initiation. It felt like I was going to break the analog nub off having to rotate it fast enough to up the meter before they get away. At other times, it's just a matter of wailing away and employing several attacks to get the beat down. * This is a different fighter than what you normally associate with video games (fantasy characters, one on one combat fighting, etc.) and that at least sets it apart in style and art direction. It's enjoyable insofar as it lets you virtually act out in the slums to earn street cred.

5 Star Review   By member ehk2005 - Jan 24, 2008

Strengths: storyline and actions

Weakness: none so far

I love to play Ronstar game, so I played this game and fully satisfied. Following GTA series, manhunt series, and Bully, this game is full of actions. Compared to PS2 version of this game, I don't think this is worse. I think gameplay and graphics are similar in both games. Storyline is the same. Of course control is a little bit limited compared to PS2 version. But if we consider that it is a handheld game, its control is above ok. Overall it is a good game. I recommend games to try to play this game. You won't be disappointed...

Warriors - Here they come!!
5 Star Review   By member bunty7 - Sep 29, 2007

Strengths: A fun brawler, Excellent gameplay, Decent length

Weakness: Average graphics

This game is based on the famous cult classic movie of same name. It involves the old style gangs who settled their scores more with their fists than with guns & ammunition. The game will easily take you 12-15 hours to finish & if you add the side missions it adds to the length too. Good part here is that these side missions do not feel tacked on to main missions. In fact they add content to main story by explaining past of some of the gang members. I have not played this on consoles so cannot compare, but the graphics on PSP were just OK. Not too flashy nor too dull. If you like old style beat em up - you are thoroughly going to enjoy this game
