Need for Speed ProStreet
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 13, 2007

Ryan Cooper is an up-and-coming road warrior, one of those who craves and embraces speed like some do candy. He thrives on it, but in the world of street racers, there are the elite and those who wish they were. To reach that upper echelon, you have to take down the ones at the top. Need for Speed is the franchise that has been the frontrunner of video-game racing titles since it began in 1992. But in the effort to create a racer that was new and different, some missteps have been taken in recent years. The dev teams got caught up in that whole illegal street racing and drifting phase and the emphasis seemed to slide away from what truly made the franchise great – speed.

fun game
5 Star Review   By member aakk - Feb 10, 2008

Strengths: graphics, game play

The graphics is very good and the damage looks really real. It has different racing style: Drag, Drift, Grip, and the Speed Challenge. The gameplay itself is great, the driving control of the cars is significantly improved. Steering and acceleration, all the game mechanics are great. I like this game very much.

NFS ProStreet
3 Star Review   By member keviny - Jan 24, 2008

Strengths: Excellent Graphics.

Weakness: Repetitive

The graphics is good on the HDTV. The cars are cool and there are a lot of different combinations of cars and setups to be used in different types of racing, like grip, drag, and slide. There are also different modes for the racing. The online feature is also available. But this game has many issues, such as the lack of tight controls and no sense of speed. The night-time races are absent, which is quite disappointing. The number of races and places look very similar. Overall, this game is not very special while previous Need of Speed games were very impressive.

Most realistic yet
4 Star Review   By member aljohns4 - Jan 3, 2008

Strengths: Graphics, Gameplay, Mods, Damage

Weakness: Announcer gets annoying after a while. The mod descriptions aren't very detailed. Story isn't as intresting as NFS Carbon

The game is very entertaining. The shifting and handling aspects are the most realistic I have seen so far in the NFS series. That may be a positive for some and a negative for others. Also, the fact that you can actually damage/total your car adds a whole new twist to the races because you actually try not to ram the computer drivers off the road and use guard rails instead of brakes to shave off seconds. The game also gives you an option of making the best corning line visible so you can learn how to hit the apex of the turn just right for maximum results. The only thing I don't like about the game is the story. NFS Carbon pulls you in quickly, this game is all about the legal aspects of racing street tuned cars so the story line isn't really there and free roam doesn't exist because they would destory all the legal messages this game is constantly putting out. All in all, I love this game I think its great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a more semi-realistic racing simulation with killer graphics.

Disappointment
3 Star Review   By member dtsai24 - Dec 31, 2007

Strengths: Racing

Weakness: Not like Need for Speed

This game does not represent the normal theme of Need for Speed games. There are no cops and they changed it into an average boring racing. It is not worth buying.

You're crazy if you don't buy this game!
5 Star Review   By member Timmay1994 - Dec 7, 2007

Strengths: Exelent Graphics, New windtunel feature, realistic speed graphics.

Weakness: No Cops, No freeroam in career mode.

I agree with the other reviewer it does suck that theres no cops but the game has so many other great things on it: you can costomize your car to the last detail and everything you do with the body and performance parts effects how you do in a race, the graphics are the best they've ever been.
