Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
5 Star Review  GameZone - Apr 21, 2003

There is often that slight tinge of envy whenever another console comes out with that brilliant title you probably won’t get to play--unless, of course, your friend owns the console in question--and Playstation 2 owners have felt this more than any other console. One of the games that caught our eye, since the hype built it up to Must Have status, is Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. Well, PS2 owners, prepare to dance a jig of joy. Splinter Cell has come to the PS2 . . . and it even has some exclusive bonuses. So who’s jealous now? If you have never played the Xbox version, you’ll find that Splinter Cell’s story is intact despite the four new exclusive levels and added cut scenes.

Silent but Deadly
5 Star Review   By member headchef - Dec 15, 2005

Strengths: just about everything

Weakness: harder than other stealth games, sometimes too technical

Splinter Cell is a great game even in today's standards. It's kind of the stealth game to play if you're a hardcore spy fan or stealth game fan so it may not be the perfect game for beginners. In this game you really have to rely on stealth and staying in the shadows. It's more technical in that way; the writing is also more technical and realistic.

Great start to the series
5 Star Review   By member Warner1281 - Aug 15, 2005

Strengths: Cool graphics, awesome missions, great gadgets

Weakness: Almost too difficult sometimes

This game rocks. The point of the game is to infiltrate different areas, obtain information and do other spy type things. The majority of the time you are trying to be stealthy and distract guards or sneak around. What's nice though is that every once in a while you'll have to use brute strength and fight your way through. Most of the levels can be solved in more than one way (muscle your way through or be stealthy and sneak through) although usually you'll be better rewarded for being stealthy. Definately a must buy.

Stealthy!
5 Star Review   By member thekp18 - Jul 12, 2005

Strengths: Good Stealth Action, Decent Graphics, Good Voice-Acting, Entertaining Gameplay

Weakness: Too Dark, Somewhat Linear, Graphics not as good as XBOX, Hard

Splinter Cell truly brings stealth gaming to a all new level. The game's graphics are truly amazing, and the voice-acting is well above average. The game has a stiff level of difficulty (which can be frustrating at times, but well worth it in the end). The game's missions are varied and can be played multiple times. The lighting effects in the game are very realistic. The stealth action is very entertaining. The graphics aren't as good as the XBOX version, and the difficulty level is reduced a little bit. The gameplay tends to be linear, but all-in-all it is a truly entertaining game. A must have for any gamer. 9.5/10

5 Star Review   By member rvp88 - Jun 18, 2005

Strengths: Very realistic, spy gear access, stealth tactics.

Weakness: Can be tricky for the newcomer to stealth action scene.

One of my friends in the military told me that Splinter Cell was one of the most realistic games when it comes down to it. You can utilize nifty spy gear such as optic cables, lock picks, thermal vision, etc. I found no problems with the sound and controls. I love the gameplay, and with limited ammo you are forced to use stealth over attack. For example, in one part you have to distract a guard, lure him into the dark, and knock him out. Sounds like something straight from an action movie? Well, this game is not too far from it.
