Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
5 Star Review  GameZone - Dec 15, 2004

Perfection. Every once in a while, usually a looong while, a game bursts on the scene that causes gamers and reviewers alike to proclaim, “Perfection.” For me, the original Prince of Persia (Sands of Time) was one of those games. Here was a game that perfectly melded incredibly fresh, visceral gameplay, with some of the most breathtaking visuals ever seen in gaming, combined with an engrossing, compelling story holding it all together like industrial strength super glue. That isn’t to say that some didn’t find fault with it. Some complained about the lack of boss battles, while others griped about its length, while more yet found the combat to be somewhat repetitive.

Prince of Persia rules
5 Star Review

Strengths: Dahaka, sand wraith, alternate ending and the idea of passing thru the same place in different contexts in the island of time.

Weakness: Certain bugs because of which restarts are required

Awesome game, excellent game plan, great music, out of the world visual effects and mindblowing stunt sequences that we can do with our controllers. Keeps you gripped to the controller till you finish it.

Game you want to play
5 Star Review   By member thekp18 - Apr 17, 2006

Strengths: Graphics are vivid and realistic. Different from earlier episodes. The bad character is nicely done

would recommend to any one interested in adventure games. This is so different from other prince games. Enjoy both the characters. So many possibilities. Realistic graphics. So many twists and turns in the plot.

great game with annoying flaws
4 Star Review   By member bis22 - Mar 31, 2006

Strengths: great platforming, great fighting animations & graphics, good sound/music

Weakness: camera and controls are annoying sometimes, story occasionally confusing

This is a great game, although some annoying flaws drag it down. The gameplay, sound, and graphics are very satisfying, however, sometimes the controls get really annoying when they don't behave how you want them to, and the camera is sometimes a pain to deal with. Also, there were a few times where I encountered glitches where I couldn't move and was forced to reset the game. Finally, the game has a pretty good story, but it gets a little confusing since they occasionally under-explain things, but not in a good way. I really wish it weren't for these flaws--in that case I would give it 5 stars, but they unfortunately exist and really just made me want the game to be over with toward the end. It's well worth playing, but don't be surprised if you get frustrated. If you haven't played God of War yet, I would recommend that over this.

Ubisoft does it again
5 Star Review   By member headchef - Mar 22, 2006

Strengths: much improved graphics compared to the first one, more fighting options

Weakness: the music, the overall darker tone to everything

To put it simply, the Prince of Persia games are some of the best video games ever. Warrior Within is a sequel but it's pretty much a game on its own with a completely new story, supporting characters, and setting. And that is part of the flaw in Warrior Within; Ubisoft completely took a U turn and made it "darker and edgier." Unlike others I had nothing against the change with the prince, it's more of the overall atmosphere of the game that's a drag. The charm from the first game is gone replaced by dark, dreary, and a very bland color palette. Other than that the game is technically much better than the first game. The graphics have improved so that characters are much more detailed. Fighting is a bit less repetitive and adds to the game. The game is also longer, although it's because there's more backtracking. Overall it's still one of the better games out there.

Descent followup to Sands of Time
4 Star Review   By member ToddManG - Jan 21, 2006

Strengths: Graphics, Plot, fighting system, time shifting

Weakness: fighting gets repetitive, glitchy, "darker" prince, Godsmack music really doesn't fit

By itself Warrior Within is a pretty good action/adventure game with a good story, interesting gameplay, and plenty of action. Its main problem is that it follows the amazing Sands of Time, which is not easy to do. One of the knocks on SoT was that the combat was pretty basic. That's very true, it was basically a distraction between puzzles. In WW they've revamped the entire fighting system making it much deeper and more enjoyable. It's a good thing too because you'll be doing a whole lot of fighting. WW shifts the empasis from puzzles (they're still there, just not as many and most are way to easy) to combat allowing you to take full advantage of all the cool moves the prince can now do. Problem is that you really only need about 4 of those moves and you'll use them over and over again without digging into the "free-form fighting system" that they've created. One more complaint...the prince in SoT was really funny and entertaining, this guy just fumes around and yells at people. It's part of the whole darker/edgier image of the game and while it does fit the story, the old prince was much more likeable. Overall it is a solid game that is pretty fun to play. If you've played Sands of Time you'll enjoy this but may be a little disappointed. For everybody else WW will provide a fun time and a good introduction to the series, then go get Sands of Time already and see what PoP is really about!

If you liked the first Prince of Persia this game is a must have.
5 Star Review   By member jinho0325 - Dec 22, 2005

Strengths: fighting system, great graphics, great story

Weakness: more complicated control compared to Sands of Time, more gore and blood (can turn off blood in options), darker theme, prince is less likable

I've played Sands of Time years ago and I liked it alot. A week ago I got this game and it's satisfactory. I've heard that the Two Thrones (the third installment of Prince of Persia) is a great game so I'm just trying to get through this game as soon as possible. The game play is very similar to Sands of Time. Though the control has gotten a little more complicated so it takes some time getting used to (but it's worth it to see all the cool moves the prince can do). The worse thing about this game is how the tone of the game changed so much from the first. It had a much darker theme. Overall, I think if you liked the first Prince of Persia you might as well play this awesome game. And if you haven't played Sands of Time yet, go try it out and if you like it even a tad bit you should also try Warrior Within.

Excellent Game
4 Star Review   By member enzee55 - Nov 27, 2005

Strengths: Fighting

Weakness: Repetitive

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is an excellent game that takes fighting to another level. The environments allow the player to pick up various weapons and either weild them or throw them. Compared to the last Prince of Persia, this game has infinite amount of weapons and better fighting. In this game the player moves very swiftly to anhillate opponents. As in the previous Prince of Persia, the player can also use the dagger of time the rewind time and to initiate powerful attacks and use walls to attack opponents. The only downside of this game is that the player goes to places twice. The first time you visit a place you are in the past and the second time you are in the future. I would recommend this game because the fighting is phenominal and because there is an infinite amount of weapons.

Back for more!
4 Star Review   By member DirtyPudding - Nov 14, 2005

Strengths: Darker theme. More in-depth combat.

Weakness: Not as good as Sands of Time.

The prince is back and madder than ever! Prince of Persia Warrior Within is the sequal to the masterpiece that was Sands of Time. This time the game is alot darker and more mature. The combat is alot deeper in this game but also alot more gory as the prince can decapitate his enemies while using a sword in each hand. The team that developed the first game did not make Warrior Within. That being said, Warrior Within is simply not as good as the first. Part of the reason is because the new developers decided to use hard rock music in the game to add to the new harder, more mature theme of the game. It doesn't really fit in the game well and just sounds cheesy. That's is not to say the overall game is bad, it just doesn't live up to the first. Warrior Within is a fun game noetheless and fans of the first will find something to like about it.

Warrior Within - Good value but not as excellent as sands of time
4 Star Review   By member juice4 - Oct 6, 2005

Strengths: It is longer in length and I like the darker tone

Weakness: Needs more of the clever puzzles. That's the part I enjoy most from games of this type

The puzzles that make you have to think outside of the box are what draws me to action adventure games like this. This game could have used more of these and less simple fighting. Graphics and sound are top notch.

not as good as the original
4 Star Review   By member Warner1281 - Aug 31, 2005

Strengths: Graphics, improved fighting system, puzzles

Weakness: More gory, shifted gameplay focus

For those of you who played the previous version (Sands of Time), you will probably play this version. Just be forewarned that sequels are almost never as good as the original. This isn't to say that it is a bad game... just that it doesn't live up to the right expectations. Rather than focusing mainly on puzzle solving with a few monsters thrown in the mix for added difficulty and variety, the monsters and fighting seem like they are the main focus of this Prince of Persia. The puzzles are still unique and interesting, there just aren't as many and are overshadowed by all the monsters. Nonetheless, if you enjoy PoP:SoT, you'll enjoy this one.

Strengths: Killing monsters, cutscence are great, and the plot is great as well.

After the first Prince of Persia came out it wasn't really that good. Then when Prince of Persia:Warrior within I love it. It switch from T to M that was a good thing too. This game is a must buy.
