Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Sep 23, 2005

There's been a constant debate over which game is better: Jak, Ratchet or Sly. My inner voices can't make up their mind, and since I make my decisions based on their consensus, I can't make up my mind either. One thing I can be sure of is that I just got done playing Sly 3 and it is the first drop-what-you're-doing-and-buy-it-now action game of the season. Sly 3 begins as any Sly game should: with clever scenes, inspired camera angles and high-quality dialogue between the lead characters. I won't reveal anything about the story, but I will say that if you've played the first or second Sly then you should have a good idea of what to expect.

Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves
4 Star Review  IGN.com - Sep 21, 2005

When Sly Cooper came back on the scene last year with Sly 2: Band of Thieves we saw the game grow up as the whole gang become playable characters and the world opened up to provide a more free-roaming experience. A little bit of the original flavor may have been lost and some reviewers, myself included, might have overrated the large new worlds a bit -- but there were still so many things to do and in such clever ways that the game remained very much in a class of its own. Now, Sly returns a year later with even more thieves to show that more can be better, but with the downside of stretching itself a little too thin.

Sly 3 - Honor among thieves
4 Star Review   By member bunty7 - Jul 27, 2008

Strengths: Great platformer. Nice graphics

Weakness: Not vey challenging sometimes

This is a solid platformer with some nice music & cel shaded graphics that look great even today. The gameplay is better than previous Sly games. The included 3D glasses lets you certain parts of game in 3D & it looks surprisingly good. It is amazing that not many games tried this concept. There are fun mini games & various characters that you can play as. Large open ended environments can be explored & the boss battles are fun. Despite all the fun, the game can prove a less of a challenge for hardcore gamers. Also camera can be an issue sometimes. Despite these quirks this game is a must have.

Solid Platformer
4 Star Review   By member rpnguyen - Jul 22, 2008

Strengths: Very varied gameplay, solid design

Weakness: A little too easy, Slowdown when screen is crowded

If you are familiar with the Sly Cooper series, it is about a thief and his friends. Usually you go through levels sneaking around and stealing things. The visuals have always been nice, but in Sly 3, if there too many enemies on screen, you'll notice quite a bit of slowdown. There are a lot of things to do, and you'll be doing different things, as different characters with different abilities. There's a mode where you can use 3d glasses. It's a neat feature but not really anything groundbreaking. One problem I had is that the game is way too easy, and the "challenges" I beat all within a couple hours.

Sly's best adventure yet.
5 Star Review   By member bignate52 - Jun 13, 2008

Strengths: Even better gameplay, graphics, and story with even more playable characters.

Weakness: Its' a little too easy, the 3D glasses hurt your eyes, and there is occasional framerate slowdown.

Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves is one of the best platformers available for PS2. It has a better storyline and doesn't make you run around doing nothing as much as the previous game. I love the Cell-Shaded graphics and the sound effects and voices are pretty good too. Each of the many characters has unique abilities. One of the characters can use mind-control on the guards! The mission objectives have a lot of variety. Certain missions will even require you to operate a RC Helicopter or RC Car. Some of the new two player modes are a fun bonus for a while but you'll soon tire of them and go back to playing the usual multiplayer favorites. Its' Master Thief Mode offers more challenge but some players may still find it a little too easy. When there are a lot of characters on screen the framerate may slow down a little. The 3D glasses are an interesting concept but they may disorient you a little bit and if you wear them too long they make your eyes hurt. If you love platforming adventure games, this one is well worth the money.

Sly Is At It Again!
4 Star Review   By member FOnewearl - Jun 2, 2008

Strengths: Lots of Characters To Play As, Graphics, Animation, Presentation

Weakness: Might Be Easier Then Some Sly Veterans Would Hope For

Sly and the gang are back and in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves you will be playing as multiple characters just as you could in the 2nd game but in Honor Among Thieves you will be able to controller more characters as you progress though the game. As you progress though the game the idea will be to use stealth in order to progress though levels and at times you will have to use a certain character in order to get though certain parts. As with the other Sly games you will be able to play though missions again in a master thief mode in which you will have to beat levels in a certain amount of time. I would highly recommend Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves to anyone that enjoyed the 1st or 2nd game and if you haven't played either of them I would highly recommend giving it a try if you like Stealth (and or) platformers.

Another Great addition to the Sly series
5 Star Review   By member headchef - May 24, 2008

Strengths: +funny script/dialogue

Weakness: -it's too easy -not a fan of mini-games

Sly 3 is another great addition to the Sly series and I can't really say anything bad about the game. It's a platformer with a great story, interesting characters, witty dialogue, mixed with some mini-games which break up the platforming levels. (I never really liked the mini-games such as shooting things, flying airplanes, or maneuvering boats but that's just me). The Sly games are some of the best games for the PS2; don't let the cartoony graphics fool you and just go buy the games.

Sly 3 : Honor Among Thieves
4 Star Review   By member toothpicks - Apr 23, 2008

Strengths: Art style, Gameplay.

Weakness: Ease, 3D effect they added is of no use.

Sly 3 is as you might guess the third in the series and it's another step up. I found the first game hard and frustrating at first then it was just annoying at times. The second game was much more fun and enjoyable as is the third. I would even go as far as to say if you've never played any Sly games start with the second. You can even skip the first entirely if you want, as it is very short and very hard at times. I won't go into the story as I noticed that some of the other reviews gave spoilers. The game play is what you'd expect if you played Sly 2. It’s just as good and it’s more of the same fun. They kept the ability to play as other characters besides Sly which I really like in the second one. It was a nice departure and it switched things up. They added a 3D effect to the game; you get a free pair of those red/blue paper "glasses" in the manual. It doesn't do much and I found it hindering for the most part. I wouldn't use it again. To wrap it up there isn't much I can say here that fans won't already know. If you played either of the other Sly games and had any fun you'll have fun here too. If you never played a Sly game maybe you'd want to check out 2 first however they are all worth playing at some point if you like the games.

SLY 3
5 Star Review   By member warlion - Mar 19, 2008

Strengths: great cel shaded graphics, good gameplay

Weakness: framerate skips a bit on some stages

SLY 3 HONOR AMONG THIEVES is a platformer adventure game for the PS2. After the events of SLY 2, a number of events have occurred that left Bentley the Turtle paralyzed and wheel chair bound which has basically fractured your team. You must now go around the world and bring your teammates together again to work together in the daunting task of opening the Sly Family Vault, which your nemesis, Dr. M, is also trying to do. Fortunately, u are not alone in this endeavor , because Bentley and Murray the Hippo (the Muscle of the team) are also playable and must be used in order to pass certain points in the game. All three characters control pretty well and u explore different locales in the world like China’s snowy mountaintops or the lurching waves of the high seas, overwrought with evil pirates. U collect coins during the game from defeated enemies or pickpocket them from the enemy guards. These coins can be used to purchase gadgets and devices from the “Thief Net” which will greatly aid you in your missions. U also have a ton of many different mini-games to play , so overall, I highly recommend this game.

Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (PS2)
4 Star Review   By member cotebryan - Jan 30, 2008

Strengths: (1) Unique cell-shaded, illustrated look really brings characters and the game to life (2) Great production value and style

Weakness: (1) A bit on the short and easy side (2) Some new playable characters do not control as well as Sly

As the third entry in the Sly Cooper series, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves revisits the solid stealth/platforming gameplay of its predecessors but takes it to a more polished level and introduces more playable characters. The level structure has been retooled to a more open, sand box type of environment and you are free to choose from several missions at almost any point. The levels themselves are well thought out and this keeps them (and the minigames) entertaining throughout. The game's pace really picks up in the later portions of the game and feature some very memorable and unique moments. There is also an option to play some levels with included 3D glasses which can be a fun effect in short bursts.
