World Soccer Winning Eleven 9 International
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Apr 7, 2006

It’s tough being the best, especially when - despite your greatness - many gamers still decide to go elsewhere with their hard-earned cash. Welcome to Winning Eleven’s world, because for the past several years Konami’s prize-winning soccer simulation has had to endure this injustice. Sure, Winning Eleven has been a critical success all over the globe during this time period, but it seems that most of North America’s gaming population prefers a slick presentation and a more lenient learning curve over realism, and have seemed to flock to the competition like the swallows of Capistrano.

4 Star Review   By member mirado182 - Dec 26, 2006

Strengths: Great controls and pretty realistic

Weakness: Nothing too huge in terms of improvment

I'll lay it down simiple, this game is better than Fifa. Why then is Fifa more popular in the U.S? It's probably because of EA's money to promote the item as compared to Konami's liquid asset. This offers better realism and tighter controls. If you check reviews, most find this better than Fifa. I would definately recommened this game if you can find it.

5 Star Review   By member Jammerdez1 - Nov 6, 2006

Strengths: More teams, realistic control

I haven't played a whole lot of soccer games since the days of the original NES. So picking this up, I wasn't too sure what to expect. That being said, I love this game and can't seem to get enough. The game is very realistic as far as ball physics and control. Once I got used to the game and thought I was pretty good, one of the things I really liked was the ability to hop online and test my skills against other people (and learn that my skills are pretty much non-existent). I definitely suggest going out and getting this if you enjoy soccer. This is a great game and is as true a representation of the sport as you will find on the PS2.

Winning Eleven 9
5 Star Review   By member Warner1281 - Sep 28, 2006

Strengths: Still the best soccer game out there. Very realistic and satisfying

Weakness: Not a whole lot of improvement from last year.

Any one who has played several soccer games on the PS2 knows that the Winning Eleven series is definitely the best on the market. The realism, control, and ball handling are better than FIFA or anyone else can create. This year, Winning Eleven has also added an online feature to the game. This makes gameplay that much more interesting and intense. No more just playing the AI and figuring out the best way to score on it and trying to constantly repeat the same manuever. Now you actually get to play against real people who all have different strategies. Online play is definitely a great and much needed addition. That being said, there really isn't much other improvement to the game. With the exceptions of a couple more leagues/teams, very little, if anything has been changed. Nonetheless, I don't think this affects the gameplay very much. Personally, I say that if you have access to play this game online, then definitely pick it up. However, if you cannot play online, then you are probably better off saving your money and buying last years addition.

5 Star Review   By member yama6320 - Jul 6, 2006

Strengths: Much improvement from the previous versions of the game. More teams and players and better graphics. The names of the teams and the players were spelled miscorrectly in past versions, but not anymore.

Weakness: I love the game. Compared to FiFA this game is much better.

ONe of my favorite games alltime. Konami truly makes the best sports games and noone can ever beat them. The gameplay is a lot more realistic compared to other soccer games and there are many features added that other games lack, lack tournaments, master league. The best part is that the fixed the errors in the player's names and their teams. It is just truly realistic
