Devil May Cry
5 Star Review  GameZone - Oct 23, 2001

I have played a lot of great games this year, but none of them -- not Silent Hill 2, not Gran Turismo 3 and not even ICO can compare with Devil May Cry. It seems like every month I am blown away by a game that goes above and beyond everything else. But that may finally stop here. Capcom has taken everything I love about the Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and Onimusha series and created an entirely new game. It's a somewhat familiar experience, and yet in many ways unlike anything I have ever experienced before. At the time I am writing this part of the review, I am only a few hours away from going back to Nintendo's GameCube event called the Cube Club.

Devil May Cry (ps2)
4.5 Star Review  GameSpy - Oct 15, 2001

It must have been a dull day over at Capcom. It seems that while working on a new Resident Evil title, something struck Hideki Kamiya with the force of unleashed hellfire. Call it a spark of creative genius or a psychotic episode, but whatever it was caused the team to rework their project into Devil May Cry. This project combines a piece of the RE series with a piece of Onimusha, and sprinkles it with the sulphur from under a demon's fingernails to bring forth a title that just so happens to be the fastest, sexiest, loudest, and, like all things spawned from the bowels of hell, intensely addictive assault on your senses to hit the PS2 thus far. Do your warm-ups for this one, people, because you are about to assume control of the hippest and most lethal devil/human badass this side of the fifth ring.

Devil May Cry (ps2)
5 Star Review  IGN.com - Oct 16, 2001

From out of nowhere, Capcom does these things, call them quirky fits and starts, call them meltdowns, or call them genius. You'd be right on all counts. Capcom goes about making sequel after sequel of Street Fighter or Resident Evil or Mega Man and just when you're finally fed up with the monotony, bam! The creative minds in the Research and Development labs deliver something totally genuine, something sexy, something new and by all means desirable. While Resident Evil long ago reached its height and is now at a development crossroads, and Onimusha came very close to the mark of greatness, Devil May Cry blazes past the high-water mark of serious kick-ass action, and reaches right into the limitless sky.

5 Star Review   By member sparda - Jun 17, 2003

Strengths: Its a good game to train your reflexes, really fun especially harder modes are NOT EASY to complete and its got to take some time to train well before u manage to control the game

Weakness: Well so far only the story is not very good. thats the weakness so far

This game was release in year 2001, but the quality of it is so good until i have to recomment for all who are buying a ps2 better choose this game as well. Cause u will never know the fun of this game and i can say it is worth it to get one. Plus u will start admiring this character you are playing if you get very use to the game, you might even damage your controller when playing in harder modes because as i said it is NOT EASY to complete, what i mean here is that you got to play the easier modes for quite a few times, you can even compete with your friend to see whose rank in each mission of the game is better, the best rank is S rank and when u get it in the hardest mode in each mission of the game, you will be proud of yourself for your hard work. No kidding, cause so far not many people can get an S rank in every mission in the hardest mode of the game.

4 Star Review   By member dieselfan27 - Feb 2, 2003

Strengths: I loved the game it was fun and original, Dante is a BAD man but so much fun.

Weakness: I liked the way he talked trash in the first one more acting like nothing would ever hurt him it was more fun. Also the first one seemed a lot longer it took me no time to beat this game.

Overall the game was insane i love these type of games Dante is the man. You need to make another DMC but this time make it longer and more difficult, But you have me hooked i love it and totally recomend it to anyone who enjoys playing video games. It is totally worth your time.

5 Star Review   By member Mendenhall - Dec 3, 2002

Strengths: The strenghs of this game are a plenty, so I will suffice to say that this game has excellent eye-candy, tons of action, fast screenplay, good music and sfx, and great playability.

Weakness: 1-the game was far to short. 2- the game is somewhat dialog impaired. At some points when you are supposed to be enthralled in the game you most likely will be laughing on the floor.

A great game and a must have. Good action and something to show off to your friends. Action, eye-candy, blood, and freakin' cool monsters. This is the game you've been waiting for. The only way to make this game more enjoyable is by putting it on surround sound and making your neighbors pee their pants.

4 Star Review   By member Frobozz - Oct 16, 2002

Strengths: Solid game with gorgeous scenes-- some of the best on ANY platform. It's a great game to play and highly entertaining.

Weakness: Combat is fairly mechanical and the puzzles lose a bit in the translation to English. Dialoge might as well not be there. It's also pretty short. Took me less than 12 hours to beat the game.

The game is gorgeous and very playable. My only complaints are that is was too short, taking me only 12 hours on my first attempt through the game. To compare, it took me about 60 to play FFX. The combat is pretty easy to master and, in a way, it pretty easy to beat most enemies. Some can be very challenging, while the majority are simply speed bumps. However, the game is worth it in the end. You can continue through the end and play it again-- keeping all your items after you beat it. Supposedly, there are different challenges.

Strengths: There are too many strengths too name but i love knocken them with a sword and when there in the air blasting them back down.:)

Weakness: None that i can find oh wait it ends.:(

Every game has a flaw.dont believe that. This game is near perfect. The only problem would be of consant dreams of slashing monsters in the air with a sword and on there way down blasting the shugoogas out of them.OH HOW SWEET IT IS! AND i know we love the way in certain games your able to turn into animals...well in this case its a demen.;) If you want an action packed thrill seeking adventure and even if you dont this is a must have.Go buy it now on this sight no really go buy, you'll love it.
