Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005
4.5 Star Review  IGN.com - Sep 22, 2004

It's that time of year again: winter is looming, the lure of the TV's warming glow grows stronger, and your copy of Tiger 2004 is completely played out. This is where EA's yearly installment comes in to play with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005, a title that has been refined and expanded to make it the best of its kind yet. The team has certainly used the past year to polish up what was already an addictive golf videogame, but much like with 2004 most of the advancements come in the form of features and not necessarily gameplay enhancements.

Tiger Woods 2005 Gamecube
3 Star Review   By member yikez - Feb 28, 2006

Strengths: Nice smooth graphics. Correct Dynamics. Large list of Well Known players.

Weakness: Intros / replays annoying.

This is the best simulation golf game series for the Gamecube. The graphics are superb. The list of well known playable characters is nice. Better yet, create your own character. Lots of courses to test your skills on. Everything and Tiger too... Thumbs up!

Great golf game - fun to play solo or with friends!
5 Star Review   By member adinar - Jan 31, 2006

Strengths: Fairly easy to learn, good graphics, controls are intuitive, Gameface II allows you to customize the golfer to resemble yourself

Weakness: Possibly not very challenging for some, unable to save game in the middle of 18-hole play, not at all realistic.

Up until now, I have only played golf games where the swing was controlled with a power meter/button-press combination, so using the analog-stick to simulate a golf swing was a pleasant surprise. In addition, all golf games I played in the past had power meters/grids on the greens, so putting following the caddy's advice (7 in left, 5 in away) was also somewhat different. It took a while to get used to the distances/perspective. I've also played Tiger Woods '05 on the PS2, and I can say that the gameplay between the Gamecube & PS2 are very similar. However, I found that it was easier to hit the ball straight on the GC simply because the GC controllers have little notches which allow you to pull the stick straight forward & back. I've probably completed 1/3 of the Tour Challenges and my character has all of his stats at approximately 50%. Once you get used to the swing & putting, the game isn't very difficult, at least on the courses I've played. It wasn't very hard to score a -15 on 18 holes. And I've found the variety in the Tour Challenge mode somewhat refreshing (you alternate between 4-day tournaments, 9/18-hole match play situations, par 3/4/5 hole challenges, and chipping/putting/driving challenges). THe game also allows you to control the spin of the ball in mid-flight, which is highly unrealstic (of course), but can give you an edge if you can anticipate where the ball is going to land. I can't tell you how many times that I (or friends of mine) manage to make eagle or double-eagle from over 100 yards away simply because we were able to spin the ball into the cup. Like I said before, the putting is different than any golf game I've ever played (I haven't played any other versions of Tiger Woods), and the perspective takes some getting used to. However, they took out this feature in Tiger Woods '06 which is based on a grid/power putting system. Gameface II is a neat feature - I found that you can come fairly close in getting the golfer to resemble what you want (male & female included). My family had fun just playing around with that feature alone. It's definitely one of the most fun golf games I've ever played, although a bit on the easier side. It's definitely easy enough that people who have never played it before can pick it up fairly quickly, which makes for some fun multiplayer action. In addition to the Challenge/Career mode, you can play a variety of minigames, as well as the usual Stroke/Match/Skins variations.

A solid golfing sim for the Gamecube
5 Star Review   By member Tricky02 - Jan 1, 2006

Strengths: One of the most replayable games you'll find. . It's got some awesome new features such as Single-player, expanded by the GameFace, Pro Shop, and all the trimmings.

Weakness: The gameplay is not drastically different over last year. There is no online play.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is a polished, yet expected, upgrade to last year's version. It's has some awesome new features that go a really long way like GameFace II and TigerProofing. There's just ton of other options like a logo editor for TigerProofing, a Hall of Legends, and so much more. I was glad to see Tour Mode difficulty added in. I can highly recommend Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005, whether you've played last year's version or not. There's a lot here for everyone. This is one of GameCube's best games this year, so don't overlook it, despite its lack of online.

good golf game
3 Star Review   By member uiowashop - Dec 29, 2005

Strengths: good graphic and game play, creating your own player

Weakness: no big improvement from 04

I like every sports vedio games, from soccer, basketball to madden football and SSX. So I picked this golf game to have a try. The graphic of this game is really good. The game is easy to master. You will have fun in this game if you like golf. Furhtermore, you can creat the player yourself and personalize it however you want to. This is one of the new addition to this game. So if you are looking for a golf game, Tiger 05 may be the one.

Overall good game
4 Star Review   By member jekylltech - Dec 22, 2005

Strengths: This plays much like the Xbox and PS2 versions of the games. The play is very good, and the graphics are top notch.

Weakness: The graphics are not as good as they are in all other versions of the game, and its not a big advancement from the last version.

The game is a very standard golf game. The game plays pretty well and I'm a big fan of 2004 and 2003 versions of those games. The only thing i don't like is that the game is far to easy to master, after a month or 2 of playing, you will be eagling every single hole and wondering why real golf isn't this easy

Strengths: Great customiztion in the charecters.

Weakness: Its golf.

My favorite part about this game is creating a golfer. You can create how they look and even their victory celebrations. The main flaw to this game is that it is golf, which are usually not the best games. Out of the golf games I played, this one tops the list.
