Rock Band
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 26, 2007

Only a few years ago, the rhythm game genre was little more than a name for games like Dance Dance Revolution and a host of Japan-only exclusives. However, with the release of the original Guitar Hero (which only happened two years ago), the genre has become a phenomenon, with millions of gamers investing in the opportunity to rock out to some of the best rock songs ever. Now Harmonix, the developer of the first two Guitar Hero titles, has moved on from the series that they built to greener pastures, developing Rock Band for MTV Games. A logical continuation for the rhythm-game genre, Rock Band takes the beat-matching concepts of Guitar Hero and applies them to other instruments, namely drums and vocals, and lets up to four players rock out together.

Rock Band | Xbox 360 - Regular
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Nov 17, 2009

Rock Band is the highly anticipated game in which players play along with rock music with the included microphone, guitar, and drum accessories. The game borrows many of the elements from the popular Guitar Hero franchise. Rock Band is developed by Harmonix, published by MTV Games, and will be distributed by Electronic Arts. Harmonix has released the titles of 35 songs included with the games. Additionally, other songs can be purchased and downloaded. Guitar The game includes a Rock Band branded Fender Stratocaster guitar (wired for Xbox 360, wireless for PS3/PS2 versions) that offers some improvements over the guitar included with Guitar Hero. There are 5 fret buttons located further up the neck of the guitar dedicated for solo sections using hammer-ons and pull-offs (no strumming required). Also, there is an effects switch on both the wired and wireless version. Harmonix has confirmed that the Guitar Hero and third-party guitar controllers ... PROS: (1) Play as a full rock band with friends (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) (2) Compatible with Guitar Hero controllers (3) Amazing song selection (better than Guitar Hero) (4) Amazing drums peripheral (5) Many downloadable songs available at a reasonable price ... CONS: (1) In world tour mode have to replay the same songs multiple times (2) No"free-for" drumming mode to practice drums without a song (3) No online career mode (4) Bass pedal will break because of poor construction and design (5) Bass foot pedal doesnt fasten securely and is too loose

??To Buy Or Not To Buy??
5 Star Review   By member Slifer - May 3, 2008

Strengths: >the drums are an awesome bonus >great graphics >singing can be the perfect way to impress friends >XBOX beats out nintendo with the perfect everyone game >charecter customization is mezmerizing.

Weakness: >dont sing unless you KNOW you can... >...Ide have to say the only huge problem was its cost!

The battle between Rock Band and Guitar Hero III is coming to a close with the soon arival of the fourth GH title(Aerosmith),and Guitar Hero fans will once again be forced to either keep their old GH guitar or purchase another.HOWEVER,those who bought Rock Band will be already ahead of the game. With a variety of songs specifically chosen for public sucess, and even a "Rock shop" for player-charecter customization,Rock Band has out-done what took Guitar Hero 3 games and counting to figure out...And if that gets lame, just play with your friends
