Battles of Prince of Persia
3 Star Review   By member ewanko - Apr 18, 2008

Strengths: Good use of touch screen, Complex strategy game

Weakness: Steep learning curve for new players, heavy text in scenes leading up to a mission, plain graphics

Battles of Prince of Persia is a turn-based strategy game using a deck of cards. I've never played the console-based game, which I hear is an epic action adventure, so I have no comparison. But the DS version has rather plain graphics and art style, and has a bit of heavy text in the cut scenes at the start of each mission. There are 24 missions, and you get to play a different character each time. Each mission is divided into hours; during each hour, you and your opponent take turns playing cards from your hands, which in turn are drawn from a deck of 30. Cards may be standard order cards allowing you to move 2,3 or 4 units. Special cards may increase a unit's aura or armor, or allow them to move and shoot in the same turn. An hour ends after you and your opponent both pass. There's probably over a hundred different cards. You win new cards once you complete a mission. You can use one of 3 decks for each mission. Deck management is quite a pain because there are so many cards and you need to be familiar with each. The learning curve is quite steep as there's just a lot to keep track of, but once you master the game, it can be quite addicting. Overall, good entertainment to kill time.

Don't expect a Prince of Persia on the Console.
3 Star Review   By member Spoon_Si - Dec 21, 2007

Strengths: Fun, unquie Gameplay, Different but still has the feel to the series.

Weakness: Graphic, Game frame rates, poor art design.

Battles Prince of Persia for the nintendo DS, is unlike anything you ever played on your home console system, NOTE don't buy this expecting a true gameply to the series. believe it or not. Think card tactic strategy. like Metal gear acid. collecting 200+ cards. the collecting part got me hooked for a while. still the game has that genre charm. I reccomend a rental before buying. only downfall is the graphic and art. seeing as the game has a rush feel from the designer to make a quick Buck$$$. The DS can do far better then this.
