Pokémon Pearl
4 Star Review  GameZone - May 1, 2007

Nintendo has finally brought a true Pokemon title to the DS handheld and boy does it deliver. I am positive that there needs to be no introduction for this landmark franchise. Without further ado, let’s jump straight into the review. Pokemon Pearl takes place in a brand new region named Sinnoh. As expected, Sinnoh has nearly all the terrain types to adventure through and find rare Pokemon. What’s even better is that Pokemon Pearl finally introduces a chance to trek through the snow as players search the Tengan Mountains and its snow-white environment. f players are looking for a new story to play through, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

Pokemon Pearl
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jan 12, 2010

The first games of the so-called 4th Generation" of Pokemon titles, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl moves the best-selling RPG series onto the Nintendo DS handheld. Staying with the formula that has brought them success so far, Gamefreak takes advantage of the DSs new features and abilities, adding touch screen support, more advanced 3D graphics, wireless and online multiplayer. Of course, all of these features are mere accessories to the addictive basic gameplay of capturing Pokemon (493 unique species), training them, and exploring the world while battling wild Pokemon and rival trainers. ... PROS: (1) Collecting and training Pokemon is as addictive as ever (2) Long game with many sidequests and challenges (3) Aesthetically pleasing, with detailed sprites, animations and scenery (4) Friendly concept masks unique and deep competitive game (5) Online play facilitates worldwide trading and battling ... CONS: (1) Doesnt add much to the core gameplay. (2) Online play somewhat limited

LOVE this game
5 Star Review   By member mic26 - Apr 30, 2008

Strengths: Wi-fi play, plot

I LOVE this game!!! This game is wonderful. It has great play on wi-fi, and is a great way to stop yourself from doing nothing but twiddling your thumbs! You are a teenage boy (or girl) who comes to a lake with their friend in search of a rare Pokemon, but they meet a Pokemon professor who gives them both new Pokemon, after returning to the Sinnoh region, where the story takes place. Once the player has received their Pokemon, they start on their quest of becoming a Pokemon master by planning on beating all 8-gym leaders, so that they can beat the Pokemon league. The game’s 2-d graphics make no negative difference whatsoever to the game play, because the intensity of the plot and battles even out the graphics. This game is a MUST, for any Nintendo fan, who has time on their hands.

Pokemon Pearl for Nintendo DS
5 Star Review   By member Cyko39 - Apr 26, 2008

Strengths: Traditonal Pokemon game, NEW Online WiFi capabilities. A must-have for any Pokemon fan

Weakness: Same old stuff, a few little things that make it different than previous versions, but its essentially the same game with a different map.

If you are a Pokemon fan, you must buy this game (or Pokemon Diamond). This game revolutionized the world of Pokemon with the addition of ONLINE BATTLING & TRADING. Absolutely amazing. Fun gameplay with a bunch of little side quests, and LOTS of pokemon to catch- new and old. Again, if you liked the previous versions of Pokemon games, you will not be disappointed with this one.

Pokemon Pearl (DS)
4 Star Review   By member spadanilam - Apr 23, 2008

Strengths: Very cool and interesting graphics, the wifis feature enables you to trade pokemon worldwide, had a lot of new features that were very fun and creative like creating poffins for example

Weakness: Not enough fire Pokemon, certain pokemon can only be caught at certain times of the day, cannot trade Pokemon caught from other Pokemon games.

Overall I rate this game a 4 star because ,though it is highly enjoyable ,I was able to beat the game pretty easily. The Pokemon diamond game was much more challenging.

Gotta catch 'em all
4 Star Review   By member henwy - Apr 21, 2008

Strengths: Good story, plenty of things to do, lotsa new pokemon

Weakness: Can get repetative, weak graphics

The newest installment of the popular Pokemon franchise for the Nintendo DS is Pokemon Pearl and Diamond. They're mostly identical, but contain slightly different rosters of available pokemon. If you've ever played one of these games before, then you're already familar with the general idea. You're a trainer setting out to see the world and learn more about pokemon. You catch them in your travels and then use them to battle others. Pokemon Pearl is a lot of fun and provides a lot of content for the money. in addition to the quest of capturing one of every pokemon and then leveling them up, there are all sorts of other activities such as artistic competitions for your pokemon. You can also plant berries, make pokemon food, explore caves, make clubhouses, etc. There is a strong interaction element in Pokemon Pearl which is great if you know someone else also playing the game. You can trade pokemon (which make them level faster), battle your friends, or engage in a spelunking mini game. This game will keep you occupied for weeks. There's almost alwyas something interesting to do. You should just be aware that to accomplish some of the goals, like getting every pokemon to their final evolution, will take a lot of time in some cases. You often end up running around just looking for random encounters. All in all, it's definitely something to pick up.

AWESOME GAME! Restarted I don't know how many times!
5 Star Review   By member sinofsky - Feb 27, 2008

Strengths: Pokemon are so colorful and cute! I love them! Complicated especially with when deciding to evolve a pokemon!

Weakness: Sometimes can be a bit too easy...

Great game! I thought I wouldn't love this game but it is awesome! Sometimes it can be a bit too easy, but then there is a level of complexity. I don't know how long I will be addicted to this game but I love everything about it, just wish there were more gym leaders! :) Overall knowing that beating the game opens up more pokemon was exciting. I bought Pokemon Diamond so that I could breed Pokemon that I could only get at the end and use them in Pearl to start. Only annoying and somewhat exciting thing thing is Pearl has Pokemon Diamond doesn't and if you can find them, they are really fun to train and evolve! :) I LOVE THIS GAME!

Pokémon Pearl... 493 Pokemon may be a bit much...
4 Star Review   By member iamamoogle - Feb 26, 2008

Strengths: Fun to play, Sprites are fairly detailed compared to older titles, Online capabilities

Weakness: Repetitive, Need GBA Games to catch some older generation pokemon, Pokémon voices are still just beeping sounds (especially older generation ones)

I skipped over the GBA generation of Pokémon games, so I hadn't played anything newer than Silver. I was happy to see that Pokémon games have advanced quite a bit since then. Pokémon Pearl adds a bit more detail than previous Pokemon games. It remembers what kind of pokéball you catch a pokémon in and is displayed when used in battle. Pokémon move around a bit more in battle and are a bit less static. While the game is fun, and actually a bit more challenging then previous titles, it gets somewhat repetitive. Though there are many new types of pokémon and there is an ever growing amount on combination types which add a level of strategy that was missing in the older games. Pokémon Pearl is a great addition to the DS library. While it gets a bit repetitive at times, its still a lot of fun. Having a friend with the game makes the gaming experience a bit better with online battles and trading.

More for Pokemon fans
3 Star Review   By member IP68 - Feb 20, 2008

Strengths: Pokemon's variety

Weakness: Same Combat. Too many repeats. Poor graphics (3D). No 2d for battle

Collect and Train as many pokemons as you can. Battles to proof. In most battles it is remind pokemon story and Game Boy game, but with more characters and options. There is no best pokemon since every other has some weekness, and eventually after so many battles should loose. And game repeats over till next one loose. It is kind of fun, but after a while get boring.

Pearl Pokemon
5 Star Review   By member yakkotank - Feb 13, 2008

Strengths: As fun and addictive as ever.

Weakness: Pokemon from GBA games cannot be imported until after you beat the Elite 4. Slow pace.

Pokemon Pearl represents the best that Pokemon has to offer. Lots of new Pokemon, nifty retro-graphics, plenty of post-game activities, and more make this a great value. The implementation of trading and battling over the Internet is superb, and there are so many things to do (that have nothing to do with the main quest) that there's something for everyone here. The main gameplay is still as fun and rewarding as ever.

A Great Pokemon Game Like Any Others
4 Star Review   By member meggiemho - Feb 7, 2008

Strengths: Great gameplay, graphics, and sounds. This unique system of gathering pokemon, training them, and doing lots of other stuufs are fun. Trading and battling online is great also.

Weakness: This can get repetitive and thus sort of boring the longer you play.

This is just like any other pokemon games. Basically, the same systems, but with more stuffs added like new pokemons and new items. Playing this game with your friends can be interesting, and will motivate you to master the game with extremely strong pokemons so you can beat your friend. I recommend people who likes pokemon game to play this game. It is as good as any others. You will experience new pokemons, new places, new items, and a lot more. This game will give you lots of fun. I don't really recommend this game to anyone who hates repetitive games. This game is basically just gathering strong pokemon and train them and to search for strong skills and good items. If you played other pokemon games and you are tired of training so many pokemon and feel like it's a waste of time, don't buy this game.

Great game, my son loves it.
5 Star Review   By member Usharani2007 - Jan 20, 2008

Strengths: Great, fun game for the pokemon lovers

Weakness: Kid's game

I bought this game for my 8 years old son. He likes this game so mush. He is a Pokemon lover. Pokemon Pearl is the newest Pokemon game. This game takes advantage of the Wi-Fi feature so you can connect to other players. Pokemon diamond and Pokemon pearl give you the ability to transfer your favorite Pokemon from your Pokemon Game boy advance RPG games,Pokemon ruby,Pokemon sapphire,Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon FireRed, and Pokemon LeafGreen to your Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon pearl. Additionally, you can copy over all the Pokemon from your Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon pearl game to Wii and battle with them in brilliant 3-D graphics on Pokemon Battle Revolution! I would like to recommend for Pokemon fans.

A must have for Pokemon fans
5 Star Review   By member Pokefan98 - Dec 12, 2007

Strengths: Easy to play and very involving.

Weakness: Graphics could be better, battels get boring after a while.

This game is based the latest Pokemon diamond and pearl series. With DS wi-fi feature you can battel with other friend in same room or over the internet. There are around 100 new pokemon species with pokemon diamond and pearl and cool thing is that you can customize your pokemons to your likings according to your style.

Good Pokemon Game
4 Star Review   By member trmis - Nov 29, 2007

Strengths: Game is colorful and has good 3D graphics. Storyline is well rounded.

Weakness: Touch-screen controls is a little sluggish. Sounds are repetitive.

Great addition for Pokemon fans. You have the ability to battle and trade pokemon over the internet. There are more than 100 new pokemon to collect. You can use the stylus to select menus during battle which is convenient. Most of all I like the online play which lets you chat and battle as well on the Internet. A fun game overall.

Great review
5 Star Review   By member WertTWolf - Nov 20, 2007

Strengths: Multiplayer, replayability, graphics, how long it freaking LASTS, wi-fi, just about everything.

Weakness: ...stupid character limit in strengths. It doesn't

It brings back everything from from, well, every pokemon game made so far. There's no annoying trade liimitations, and the Wi-Fi is a nice addiction. Graphically, it's a huge step up. If they'd made it look like Animal Crossing...it would just look stupid. Pokemon isn't that sort of game. If they'd made it look like Animal Crossing, then it wouldn't fit on a DS game cart, they'd have to limit it to a couple towns. It would have to be for Wii, which wouldn't be portable, therefore, not really a pokemon game. The Pokemon games are all about portability, being on the current portable Nintendo system. Most of the new cities and towns have all been done to death, besides Snowpeak. It's the first thing in the game that feels new. If you're a pokemon fan, you've got to get this. Well, this or diamond...(Oh, and I got it on release day.)(Wert.the.wolf@gmail.com if you want to ask me something)

Pearl Rocks
4 Star Review   By member davidb69 - May 7, 2007

Strengths: Keeps with the traditional Pokemon games

Weakness: Not enough DS support

Pokemon Pearl plays just as it would be a gameboy advance game. I'm in so far for about 5 hours. It's simple to pick up and play and I would recommend for all to play. I like the ability for the using the DS during battle but that is really all the DS supports. I wish it would use more functionallity like Animal Crossing when you are walking.
