A fun one, but not as polished as the Brain Age series
4 Star Review   By member natehulse - Dec 28, 2007

Strengths: Thinking games, low price

Weakness: Not as much replay value, story is kinda quirky

We purchased this on sale, thinking it would be a good addition to our DS collection. Overall, it's just OK... not as engaging or as polished as the Brain Age series, but still has a lot of the same feel. It has a quirky storyline and not as much replay value. Still, it can be purchased pretty cheap and isn't a bad addition to your collection.

Brain Boost: Beta Wave
3 Star Review   By member exstudent - Dec 8, 2007

Strengths: On Sale.

Weakness: Not that much fun compared to the Brain Age series.

The only two games within the cartridge I enjoy are the "pair matching" and the "addition." The pair matching requires you to match the only pari of items on the screen; sounds easy enough, but you'll be amazed at how difficult it is (at least for me). The addition is fun and challenging, as it just highlights how rusty one is when they haven't been using their math skills regularly.

Needs a little more boost
3 Star Review   By member dutchfudge - Oct 31, 2007

Strengths: Games are semi-fun, definitely challenging

Weakness: Cutscenes/Story

The Brain Boost games came out 7 months after Nintendo's Brain Age. Based on the level of polish (or lack thereof) there is no doubt in my mind that Beta Wave and Gamma Wave were conceived, programmed, and published sometime within that 7 month period. The presentation leaves something to be desired, as the menus are plain and boring. As a whole, the Brain Boost series doesn't feel like a game quite so much as a chore. The bulk of development time appears to have been allotted to the childish cutscenes. For adult players, the cutscenes will simply be an annoyance, but may provide entertainment to entice younger gamers to continue playing. Brain Boost does not offer any incentive for daily play like the Brain Age series. As far as I can tell, all modes and games are available from the beginning. Very disappointing in the age of achievements and gamerscores. If you can find it for under $10.00, Brain Boost: Beta Wave is definitely the one to get. The games are much more enjoyable than it's sibling Gamma Wave(which I would rate at 2.5 out of 5).

Brain Age is better
1 Star Review

Strengths: More colorful.

Weakness: Not all that much of good. If you want to train your brain with more fun activities, i suggest buying the Brain Age 2

I tried this on my DS and got tired easily. I prefer playing with Brain Age or Brain Age 2. This one simply was bad. Compared to the Brain Age series, this game is not good at all. Probably just nice because of it's cover being colorful to kids
