Good Design & Build; Lots of Features
Strengths: Solid build -- not prone to tipping; feels like it will last. Good design -- many fun features should keep kids' interest for years.
Weakness: None found yet!
If your playroom is as stuffed as ours, you think twice about what you add to it! This easel packs a lot of fun features into one unit and we're glad we got ours.
The multiple functions and flexible design should make it useful and hold kids interest for years. The easel includes a blackboard on one side, a whiteboard on the other, and a rolled paper dispenser in the middle for rolling paper over the whiteboard for painting. There are trays on both sides below the boards, with individual "cup holders" below the whiteboard for holding paint cups. Clips are included to hold the paper to the board while painting or for hanging finished artwork from either side.
The easel feels well built, with no plastic joints or parts that feel prone to break. It's also just heavy and solid enough that it isn't prone to tip over. Our baby pulls up on it all the time to wipe out our older boy's blackboard art!
Highly recommended.
Note: Melissa & Doug also makes an accessory kit for sale separately that is nicely equipped to get you started. It includes colored chalk, eraser, paints and paint cups, a roll of paper, etc. Maybe not the cheapest way to buy that stuff, but handy for a first purchase.
