Strengths: Easy for a toddler to use and comes with fun games as well
Weakness: stopped working properly after only 2 weeks
My son liked this a lot for the 2 whole weeks that it worked. The down button stopped functioning after only 2 weeks. Vtech gave us the runaround when we tried to get it replaced. This is a very expensive toy to only work for 2 weeks.

Takes decent pictures for young children.
Strengths: Takes pictures, videos, and has a few games. Pretty sturdy.
Weakness: Picture quality isn't very good. Camera has to be held still when photo is taken. Slow response time.
My daughter who is almost 3 really likes this camera. It has survived many bumps and drops, which is a big plus for a toddler camera. Unfortunetly, the picture quality isn't too great. Reading the product specs, I assumed they wouldn't be really high quality so I wasn't too disapointed, but this is something to keep in mind. Another downside is that the camera has a slow response time. When my...

When my daughter first started using it, the camera would make the sound like it took a picture, and THEN it would take the picture. My daughter would move the camera to see her photo when she heard the sound and then the photo that came out was just a blur. The camera has to be held pretty still to get a good shot and if you were to take a picture of someone moving, it's difficult time time it because there response time is a little slower than a regular camera.
There are some fun features though. One feature allows you to put silly hats and "frames" on the photos. The add ons are very cartoony, but fun for kids. You can also take the picture while using the add on by turning on an item like a hat and then using the screen to position it just right over your subject. This is easier said than done though because the stuff never seems to be positioned right when the actual photo is taken, even if the camera and subject are both still. The camera also has a few games like a matching game and a tic-tac-toe game. The games are pretty cheesy and the graphics are really low quality, but it could help keep a child entertained for a short period of time. The main appeal for my daughter is taking photos though.
One last problem with the camera is that the flash washes everything out. Most kids like to get real close to take photos, and the flash turns everything white and drains the color from it. The flash can be turned off though, which is how we usually use it. The battery life is good. My daughter has played with the camera probably 5 or 6 hours total and we havn't needed to replace the batteries yet. It shuts off automatically after a few minutes of unuse too. The internal memory also held more photos than it mentioned on the box, which pleasently surprised me.
I would recommend this camera for children in the 3-5 age range and for children who arn't very good at taking care of their belongings. If my daughter was a little less clumsy, we would have bought her a cheap "adult" digital camera. In the next few years if she prooves herself, the Kidizoom will go to her brother and she'll get her own camera. For a little extra money, we could have got a real camera and it would have taken way better pictures. What you're really paying for here is the durability.

Great camera for a toddler!
Strengths: Decent pictures, can add silly addons the image right from the camera, there are games on the camera
Weakness: Image quality could be better, low light could be better
I purchased a Fisher Price camera for my son and a soon as he opened it I know it was garbage. I searched around for a new camera reading all the review and found the VTech Kidizoom Camera. It was moderately priced. My son loves this camera, I would recommend for toddler only.

Fun toy for kids
Strengths: Colorful, durable, easy to use, fun for kids
Weakness: Low resolution images, looses pictures when the batteries die
If your kids want to do everything that you do (maybe all kids are that way), and you don't want them breaking your good digital camera, then this is a great toy. They can take their own pictures, view them on the LCD screen, and download them just like you do. Having their own digital camera is definitely fun for a kid. The downside is the low resolution. I'm not sure how much more it would have...

I'm not sure how much more it would have cost to put a cheap 2 or even 3 megapixel sensor in there, but the 0.3 one that it has really isn't enough for much beyond playing with the images on the computer or TV screen. This limitation basically ensures that once your child gets a little older you will want to get them a better camera that they can use to print real pictures.
The other downside is that the built-in memory is not flash. So all the pictures are lost when the batteries die. Luckily, there is an SD slot to use for picture storage. So you should strongly consider picking up a cheap SD card or grabbing an abandoned 256MB or 512MB one from around your house. (At 0.3MP, you don't need a very big card to store many hundreds of pictures.)
In summary, this is a great toy and kids love it. However, I was a bit surprised regarding the 2 glaring limitations that I discuss above. It seems like they would have been fairly cheap and easy to correct in this product's design.

Great for the kiddies to learn and have fun
Strengths: Like that it is designed for the kiddies as far as use and durability. The games are an added bonus.
Weakness: None that I have really noticed or at least that are that big of a deal to mention.
Really happy I purchased this instead of the other cameras that are out for kids. My daughter loves taking pictures of everything and being able to review what she has taken is fun too.
