This product is amazing
5 Star Review   By Chicken on Home Depot - Jun 15, 2013

We bought these to put near our chicken coop. We cannot believe how quickly it works. In fact, it is almost scary/freaky/creepy!!! Within hours, the trap was FULL of flies, with others waiting in line to get in! Sounds awful, but the product works. And so easy to dispose of, we will definitely keep buying these. The only thing I would say is that we now have flies from everywhere just dying to get in!!!

100 % effective
5 Star Review   By boondocks on Home Depot - Dec 16, 2012

Don't bother buying the other Rescue fly trap with the hard plastc lid. Same company makes this other fly trap with the hard plastic yellow top and clear plastic bag. Within 1 hour fly trap was being filled. Next day there were so many dead flys I have to return to Home Depot for three more. Flys have been hanging around my garden for a year and spraying them was like urinating in he wind (not effective) 5 star rating is deserved.

Maggot incubator and cafeteria
1 Star Review   By SpikeFlea on Home Depot - Sep 22, 2012

So I went and set one of these things up. Within a day or two I was like "Wow! look at all the flies this thing is catching! Where could they all be coming from???" By three days, I literally had to throw it out because it was doing such a "great" job and had already become filled. So I went ahead and bought another one. Hung it up... and three days later... FULL again! Except this time, I figured out what was really going on. The flies were using it as an incubator for their maggots! When I examined the bag up close, to my utter disgust I saw hundreds of live maggots, some of which were dead in the water, but many of which were climbing up the side of the bag and OUT, only to turn into the very problem I was trying to rid myself of... FLIES. So I threw it away, maggots and all, and went back to the product I've been using successfully in the past: The Black Flag Fly Motel. The bait doesn't feed the maggots, the design does not allow for any growth, the smell is better and despite it costing 2-3 dollars more, it'll last you for a month or two depending on how big your fly problem is. In the end it is cheaper, more effective and far more hygienic than this product. I'd give this one zero stars if I could. Utterly disgusting.

Excellent Fly Trapper
5 Star Review   By daftshadow on Home Depot - Sep 17, 2012

I've been having Fly problems this Summer where quite a few would make it into the house. Went out to Homedepot, picked one of these, not sure if it would work but to my surprisement it worked almost immediately after setting it up. Flies came in droves within an hour. It's been three days since I put it up and there are literally hundreds of dead Flies in the bag and not one single Fly has gotten in the house. I hunged it near the garbage containers (the black one). Highly recommend this product. I got the heavy duty bag for 70,000 Flies.

Great Fly Trap When Camping
5 Star Review   By kchog on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2012

I use this fly trap when we go RV camping. Yes it stinks, but I'd rather have the majority of flies go to the trap instead of the dinner table. At the end of a week, there are at least 2 inches of dead flies on top of the water in the trap. Don't hang it close to your dining area.

Finally a fly trap that works!
5 Star Review   By babesbarn on Home Depot - Jul 8, 2012

Draws flies in like honey to a bear. The "death" smell it gives off brings the flies in droves! I was considering getting rid of a bush that I love that files become a problem with spring and summer months. Could not even come inside my back door due to the problem. Disgusting and embarrassing. Now with the Rescue Disposable Fly Trap, I have my bush back AND my entrance. Yes it stinks to high heaven but just put it at the nearby source. I have a niece who recommended it to me. She lives next to a horse farm. She swore by these. I can't believe how fast they go in. Use a little warm water to fill the bag and place it in the sun is best. I find myself singing "Help Me...Help Me" when I look at it from the movie "the fly" lols. Take a look at my picture here. Even a butterfly is checking it out but he can't get in! One fly must have been pregnant because it had its babies in there. Wow, what a great catch THAT was. Do I sound happy? You bet. If you want a great catcher and something to show the kids for science, get this! I took a picture of the butterfly on the bag but notice the bag is already filling with flies. I change it about every two weeks. Thanks! Keep the manufacturing going!

Began to see a big reduction of flies in the back yard 3 days after putting this out. At the end of a month the bottom of the sack was almost solid dead flies - literally. This product works as stated. Would highly recommend and will be using this again!

catches flies!!!
4 Star Review   By Lizzy on Home Depot - May 10, 2012

we are having a fly epidemic and i bought one to try it out. It has caught so many flies! It was 2 inch high in dead flies. One problem, the manufacturer says it lasts a month. Mine busted after 3 wks and it smelled like a dead, rotting carcass. I did scoop up all the dead gunk and throw it away wrapped in trash bags and the yard doesnt smell anymore. Maybe next time i'll take it down after 2 wks. Definitely worth the $4.

Fly hunting
5 Star Review   By OneAkela on Home Depot - Jul 21, 2011

I put up the trap about 40 feet from the house. It does stink, but then that is what attracts the flies. The bag does tend to lose water in the heat. It will last a couple of weeks or so. It gets so full of flies that I don't think more will die even if they get in. I see them buzzing around inside. I don't know the mode of killing- whether there is insecticide in it or not. If not, there needs to be.

It works and is STINKY
3 Star Review   By FogJuice on Home Depot - Jun 8, 2011

This definitely attracts the flies. But it does so by smelling like a rotting animal. It's kept the flies from inside the house, but it just smells SO horrible when walking by it in the backyard. I had great success with the wasp trap by the same company last year, so I figured I'd give their fly trap a try. It's been nice not having flies in the house. But seriously, it stinks SO BAD. When my wife's cat caught a rabbit that started rotting in the yard, it didn't smell this bad. It really is something to take into consideration. Maybe hanging it in a further part of the yard would help, but I don't know if it would decrease its effectiveness, too.

Disposable Fly Catcher
5 Star Review   By andieemt on Home Depot - Sep 21, 2010

I purchased this disposable fly catcher, five times during the hot summer from Home Depot. If you to keep flies out of your house for a two week period, get this product. We had absolutely no flies in the house after we purchased the disposable fly catcher. We had the bag busting at the seems by the end of the two week period, with more trying to gain access. We put it on the end of the clothesline in the backyard where no one was using the clothesline. When we first opened it up & placed water in it, it really didn't do much of anything, but smell like a plastic bag with a plastic yellow top. BUT WOW, three days later if you were to walk near it, it was stinky. At the end of two weeks when garbage day hit on Monday morning (praise God they came before 9am), we put the busting disposable fly catcher in "10" plastic grocery bags, placed it all on the ground by the rest of the garbage & RAN!! You needed to "run" due to holding your breathe for so long while you placed the pile over bags @ the curb. It stunk so badly that one person from the neighborhood walked passed & nearly passed out on the smell of it. He said, " I thought I put on deodorant this morning. :) It works, but it will hit you in the face like a speeding semi-truck of rotting fish & nearly knock you out. We must of trapped flies from the whole neighborhood through the summer, because everyone wasn't complaining of flies in their homes this summer. It's worth the drive to Home Depot to purchase this new device to trap flies. Forget the others useless inventions to catch flies. I would even recommend this product to our Amish, Old Order Mennonites friends, & all farmers to use in their barns or homes. I should make myself understand after what I wrote above, I "live in the suburbs", but I travel a lot. It takes a lot for me to leave a great review on a product, so this is really true testimony.

Do NOT purchase this product!!!
1 Star Review   By jdmd on Home Depot - Sep 6, 2010

I purchased this product to get rid of unwanted flies in my garage. I've read several positive reviews here and the one thing they seem to have in common are the usage of "livestock" terms. If you live on a farm and raise chickens, or have cows, then maybe, just maybe, this product is right for you. HOWEVER, for the vast majority of Home Depot shoppers, I suspect that isn't the case and you're thinking about buying this for your home. As another reviewer mentioned, this product merely ATTRACTS more flies and smells absolutely rancid, as if something died. The smell was so awful, it penetrated the inside of my home, and I had to place this thing in three ziplock bags to mask the smell when I put it in my garbage can. And don't even get me started what you'll go through if you accidently drop this thing. You add water you see, and it will get everywhere. EVERYWHERE!!! Needless to say, that's what happened to me. I would have returned it, but it just wasn't worth the hassle. Do yourself a BIG favor and buy something else.

Catches flies, smells horrible, even from 50 feet
2 Star Review   By sws1967 on Home Depot - Aug 27, 2010

I've tried almost every fly product HD sells...this is the only one that actual did catch a significant number of flies - much better than the "jar" reusable version. BUT, it smells absolutely horrible - like dead fish - and I have it near a trash area on the side of my home, and you can smell it all they way out at the street, 50ft away! The smell is too much to have around the home, so this product is not really useable either.

Disappointed
1 Star Review   By twinsn1mom on Home Depot - Aug 24, 2010

I used this because I had just a few flies in my back yard and I thought it would get rid of them. All it did was attract more flies. It did trap a lot but I could barely open my door because if I did, a dozen flies would come in. I stopped using it for 2 days and the flies are gone. And it smells bad...like poo. Don't buy this unless you want a fly filled poo smelling yard.

RESCUE! Disposable YELLOWJACKET Trap A++++++++++++
5 Star Review   By Islands7 on Home Depot - Aug 19, 2010

OMG it saved our backyard and they are still catching more after emptying clandestine ground & haystack nests. These are actually yellow/black paper wasps but otherwise have teh same markings as yellow jackets. Usually docile, once disturbed or too close to nest and they hunt your down fr over 50 yards, preferring to repeatedly sting dark clothing. I now installed permanent nylon string hangers w/paperclips so its easier to change the bags out. Fill with hose, hang, relax, wait ~2 weeks, repeat as required. No more problem.

I have never seen anything work so well!! We have horses near the house and can hardly stand to be outside. The rescue trap draws the flies from quite a distance, so we place them near the horse corrals and enjoy our porch again- even can eat outside again!! Thanks Rescue!!

Great product
4 Star Review   By Napole on Home Depot - Jul 18, 2010

Works just as advertised! 20 dead flies within a couple of hours. Haven't experience the pungent odor yet. But then I am having a bad cold :-) We have used other less expensive fly traps (the sticky stick) that are less effective in catching these buggers. This one simply does it job and does it well. The setup is easy. Just as one poster here did we hang ours on an old coat hanger which hooked up to the trellis in the backyard, the dogs' hangout. Now that the fies aren't bugging neither them and us, life in the backyard is better. It's BBQ time without flies!

Fly trap
5 Star Review   By mlwpdb on Home Depot - Jul 17, 2010

I bought one of these fly traps yesterday afternoon and within 1 hour, the bag began filling up with flies. One day later, flies are still being drawn into the bag. I imagine there is a couple hundred to a thousand flies trapped. We have been having a fly problem in the backyard, but we never imagined that there would be this many flies. I am going to back and buy a couple more and hang in other parts of the yard. I am very pleased with this product and would recommended it to anyone needing to get rid of flies.

Great stuff
5 Star Review   By rosewood on Home Depot - Jun 19, 2010

I have chickens and i need to get rid of the flies. This does it. I put one out a few days ago, I am now going for more, this one is full and cannot hold anymore flies. Yes it does smell awful in the summer but that is why it works. It tells you on the package keep away from the living area because of the smell. I never notice unless I am right by it. Would you rather have flies?

Fly trap
5 Star Review   By Nevills on Home Depot - Jun 4, 2010

On the first , I didn't beleive that they would work , only seen about 8 flies to the 2 traps . This is the 4th day and the flies are coming more, and the trap is receiving more and more files a day. I just went outside to see and both traps had about 20 flies to a trap and this is wonderful to me, the dog, house, and yard. Thanks People!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing....
5 Star Review   By CourtB on Home Depot - May 23, 2010

Last summer I was looking for some sort of product to help ease my backyard fly problem. I enjoy working on my laptop on my back patio (with the necessary outdoor fan handy for summer down here) but the flies were driving me nuts! I wasn't even really sure what I could use as an outdoor remedy so I started checking online to see what was out there. I saw this product and read the description, etc on this site and figured it was worth a shot. Worst case, even if it didn't work at all, at least it was relatively inexpensive as far as pest repellents go. I headed to my Home Depot and picked one up to see if it worked. When I got home, I read the instructions on how to set it up and was very pleased with how easy it was to get it ready to go. I placed it far enough away from me so that the flies would, hopefully, be attracted to something that was nowhere near where I was sitting. I immediately noticed flies congregating around it and there was definitely a big difference in how many flies were over in my area. I actually could get settled in and really work on my laptop without swatting flies every 3 seconds! ;-). After the first afternoon of use, I was already a big fan of the product and its results. However, I was a hands-down fan for life when I went over and saw just how many flies were already trapped just from that day! I couldn't believe it, no wonder they usually drove me so crazy....there were tons of the little suckers in there. I would highly recommend buying one or more of these to anyone for use in their backyard, etc. You definitely won't be sorry you did and your outdoor life will be much more pleasant for sure :-).

Excellent Fly Trap!
5 Star Review   By Cornflakes on Home Depot - Sep 30, 2009

This trap is great. Easy to set up. I don't understand the complaints about it not coming with something to hang with, or needing a place to hang. You can use any old wire hanger to hang it. And yes it needs water, but you have water at home, don't you? The trap does smell, but that's what gets the flies in. It cleared up a nasty fly problem back when my landlord had a dirty dog sitting in our backyard and didn't clean the dog or its leavings. Now I'm using it again outside my new home which had not been cared for for over a year. In just the week I've had it up, I would estimate easily 100 flies are in there. I recommend you wrap the trap up in a plastic bag when you throw it away so the water doesn't leak into your garbage cans. I recommend doing that on trash day too so it sits in your garbage cans as little as possible. Warning, the bag is gross with all the dead flies in there! I also recommend getting more than 1 of these if you have a big area. I would say it has an effective radius of attracting flies within 10-15 feet.

Incredibly stinky. DO NOT keep indoors!
2 Star Review   By KWilson803 on Home Depot - Jul 10, 2009

Ok first of all, be aware that you have to fill this thing with water. You also have to find something to hang it on, and hang it with, because neither are included. So I filled the thing, and as I was looking around for some place to hang it, it slipped out of my hand and splash! All over the kitchen floor. The liquid stinks to high heavens and is impossible to get rid of! I've tried everything including bleach, but the scent still comes back. DO NOT put this INDOORS! Because as other reviewers state, even if you do get this thing hanging somewhere, it stinks too bad for the house. The odor is like a pile of rotting fish. But the flies seem to love it. Theyre gathered outside right now, around the mop and bucket I used to clean the floor.

This fly trap works very welloutdoors, the only drawback is after a few days it has a horrible smell, smells awful but works great.

Fly Trap
4 Star Review   Home Depot

I bought this trap because we starting have more flies when we installed our pool. I think the chlorine or pool chemicals attracted the additional flies. This package REALLY attracted a lot of flies to the bag, probably more than I wanted. I had to move it away from where people were located because it's scent had them buzzing. At first only a few flies were attracted inside the bag. BUT, after several days it was pretty full. We left it out in the TX sun and it smelled pretty bad. I buried it in a field as i did not want it stinking out the garage where we keep the trash barrels. Highly recommend but it might attract more than you want to it's area and look out for the smell.
