great product once you customize it.
4 Star Review   By member davebg86 - Nov 20, 2008

Strengths: sturdy, solid, comfortable, easily navigated, strong hull, easy to inflate and deflate.

Weakness: oar locks and oars included are of poor quality. first trip out, i broke an oar lock. second trip, broke an oar (the center locking piece is only plastic).

Out of the box, this product has its pros and cons. Intex was quick to replace my broken oar lock and I never brought the broken oar to their attention. I always have a partner when I take the boat out, so setup and breakdown take about 10 minutes and 5 minutes respectively. On the water, the boat handles great. I picked up 2 lightweight canoe paddles, a small mushroom anchor (don't want anything that can tear a hole), some anchor line, battery, and trolling motor. I've doubled my initial cost, but I'm very happy with my raft. Also, 4 people is a complete exaggeration. 2 is most comfortable, you have room for a tackle box and a cooler. Three is fine too, but don't expect to stretch your legs. Four...well I haven't tried four but with three seats, each about 16" wide, I don't see four fitting. To end on a good note, I was on a lake with a friend when we discovered a stream. We decided to follow it and we rowed for miles through some very shallow (maybe 8") water. The inflatable keel is easily deflated while in the raft, which we had to do to avoid grounding ourselves over logs and such. The boat held up great and abuse to the rock guard was hardly visible when we later inspected it. I trust the construction of the raft, and after nearly 20 outings already, I'm confident it will last me a while.
