Success w/OEM Windows XP install
5 Star Review

Strengths: exactly as described; no surprises

Working off a very limited budget, I was thrilled to find the latest OEM Windows XP with SP2 updates in a legit version. As anyone knows, software is pricey, and often the greatest expense in maintaining or upgrading a computer. I needed to set up a 17 month old Intel based Imac via Boot Camp, so that school work could be done w/Windows software as the school no longer accepted Mac OS based work. I wanted a legit version, and could not afford $160-$260 versions. This product made that possible. Couldn't be happier. It runs as any other OS I've seen in WIndows. That's all it needs to do.

Windows XP home
3 Star Review   By member Iroc - Apr 15, 2007

Strengths: loads fine..key number is valid..no operational problems

Weakness: none detected

The product works well, however, advertising does not indicate it is for sale with a new PC nor does it indicate it is for the African/middle eastern market. This would be a problem possibly for someone purchasing it for use inside the USA.

5 Star Review   By member umterp88 - Oct 9, 2006

Strengths: Works on the Intel Macs

Weakness: Windows XP that attracts spyware and viruses

I purchased this OEM version of Windows XP Home because previous reviewer had mentioned that he was able to install it on his Intel Mac. Sure enough, I was able to install it on my son's Macbook. Now he has the best of both world.

Windows XP Home SP2
4 Star Review   By member bartkoslow1 - Sep 24, 2006

Strengths: Windows XP Home SP2 has some improvements over the earlier version and is the version most of us should use. There are more supported devices and the addition of a security center.

Weakness: Security is still a constant problem.

SP2 has numerous small improvements over the earlier version. In particular the Security Center and the fact that this version supports more hardware devices. The Security Center is especially good for neophytes, as it makes you pay attention to a Firewall, Anti-virus programs and Spyware programs.

Windows XP Home OEM
2 Star Review   By member matrixstylemac - Sep 14, 2006

Strengths: Cheap though windows has no strengths

Weakness: Still bloody expensive for a 5 year old piece of software

This is the ONLY way to buy a software license of windows. $199 for the full retail version? I think not. Unless you're using windows to play games that don't exist on a mac, you should be using a mac. Get a real OS.
