Reviews for Microsoft Office 2003 Standard Edition - Upgrade - Version Upgrade - 1 User

Product Reviews (2)

better than earlier versions:...

Strengths: ease of use, features

Weakness: price only, more expensive than earlier versions, but worth it!

better than earlier versions: interfaces more easily with microsoft outlook webmail, help features easier to use, more "intuitive" to a non-technical user, no annoying status bar. User must convert some old word documents to new format - I had to install a missing file to do that from the CD after the initial install - but that was needed only once, then it was done for good.

This is an upgrade software for MS...

Strengths: Price, four programs in one suite, ease of installation

Weakness: None... if you like MS and have enough hard drive space

This is an upgrade software for MS Office standard 2003. Basically, if you have an older version of MS Office ( only back to Office '97) or MS Works, you can use this upgrade package to install Office 2003 at what is a discounted price to purchasing the full retail version. The price for the upgrade is essentially what you would pay for a single copy of Excel or Word. In this suite you get Word 2003, Excel 2003, Outlook 2003, and Powerpoint 2003 for less than $199.

Istallation was very quick upon loading of the CD. The software will check for a qualifying copy of Office or Works and then will install the Office 2003 programs if you qualify. You are limited to installation on two computers per software purchase. The total disk space used is about 260MB.

The programs retain the familiar features of old, with improved tool bars, and more efficient window usage in outlook for viewing messages. The programs also allow backward compatability with Office '97, 2000 or XP, which is a very nice feature.
