Delta Force Black Hawk Down
4 Star Review  GameSpy - Apr 1, 2003

It takes a few minutes to figure out what kind of game Delta Force: Black Hawk Down really is. It opens with a solemn video showing the plight of early 90's Somalia, and if you rummage through the game's manual, you'll find some history on the region, detailed info on the equipment and tactics used by during U.S. soldiers, and lots of other terms suggesting realistic gameplay, such as rapid aim fire and room takedowns. Even a quote on the box calls it a serious tactical shooter.

Delta Force Black Hawk Down
4.5 Star Review  IGN.com - Mar 18, 2003

Violence. For males, there are only two things better than the combination of sex, drugs and alcohol, and that's violence and victory. Don't deny it. Don't cower behind the facade civilized life affords you, pretending you're too advanced to embrace its sick charm because you watch Trading Spaces and let people merge on the freeway. Violently conquering a foe is what we live for. In the minds of men, a pushy bully shouldn't be nurtured and spoken to calmly, he should be beaten back with a flurry of blinding assaults and his girlfriend should be made to hold the jacket of the champion. Cherish the darkness, wield the bat, and be the alpha male.

Glitchy, and Slow and Laggy
2 Star Review   By member MWarrior - Aug 18, 2006

Strengths: Powerful weapons for easy kills such as Car15, M60, M240, and Car15/203 and can host up to 50 players. Swiming and knifing in the water, just awesome! Water looks very realistic not a cartoon...

Weakness: People can "glitch" meaning the edges of buildings, objects, can be shot through if the shooter is close enough. In this position, the other shooter can't see who's shooting.

BHD although acclaimed as one of the best games in 2004-05, and many have played this game. I felt the building structures were terrible, very plain. Too many groupings of buildings for map makers to make unique maps. Leaning, especially "left" leaning is very popular and often times used as a shield. Leaning should make the players moves slower not as fast as someone standing straight up. Knifing is just terrible. You run in circles half the time while leaning, and often times gives you an illusion of knifing someone before they knife you. The game has alot of lag, often times frustrats others who play online. The single missions are alright but generally map makers have made improvements. This game should have been alot better...If it doesn't improve with a new series, the following of gamers will look elsewhere and indeed they already have...

One of the greatest games ive played
5 Star Review   By member superdome - Jul 16, 2006

Strengths: Graphics, weapons, vehicles, information

Weakness: a little choppy, die to quick, but hey it just adds more to the realism.

This game is one of the best i have ever played. It has violence, guns, and destruction!!! What can get better than that? Delta Force: Black Hawk Down has realistic weapons and vehicles. The Vehicles have mounted weapons like the 50. Cal turret on a Humvee, or a minigun mounted to the side of a Black Hawk helicopter. This game has good graphics and the Weapons were up to date with the time period of the U.S. military of the 90's. Weapons like the m-16a2 rifle with a grenade launcher attached to it. Car-15 rifles with scopes with the zoom feature. m82a1 sniper rifle and many more fire arms at your disposal. you can use grenades, flash bang grenades, and smoke grenades to use to your advantage. Over all a great game

Strengths: Awesome graphics, excellent choices of weapons, firing miniguns from Blackhawks is fun. Multiplayer is sweet.

Weakness: Wish you could handicap your health to let you LEARN at first instead of dying instantly. Weak on blood effects.

I use Windows XP, Pentium IV 2.4Ghz, 64MB Nvidida video card, 256MB RAM, cable internet and this game cooks. I've played a previous version of DF, but this one is amazing. As usual, excellent choice of weapons. You can ride around in the Blackhawks and Hummers and fire miniguns and .50cals. There is one level where you have to storm a mine-infested beach under mortar fire... trying to navigate the minefield is difficult; it's so hard to tell the boundaries of the field. I still haven't passed that mission, but there are two other branches of missions you can select from, so you have other missions to go on with and you're not completely stuck. Multiplayer action is great and the maps are awesome. In the weakness section I was trying to say that I wish you could bump up your health to help you live long enough to learn the keyboard. I died...a LOT. I wish there was a quick-mission creator. I've only had this game a few days, but I love it so much that I've dumped 2 days off my part-time job so I can play! (Well, maybe not JUST for the game.) Buy it, you'll love it. Awesome, awesome game.

Strengths: NICE graphic engine! Big improvement from the previous Delta Force titles.

Weakness: Virtually none. You really need at least 64MB of 3d video to play this game right, either ATI or Nvidia.

Nice homage to the soldiers involved in Operation Restore Hope, Operation Continue Hope, and Task Force Ranger in Somalia 1992 through 1993. This is a game. It is not a historical recreation. As a game, it ROCKS! The multiplayer game is even better. Novalogic has a free trial download. You must try it. You will become addicted.
