Resident Evil 4
3.5 Star Review  GameZone - Jun 8, 2007

When I played Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube for the first time about a year ago, I was blown away by the graphics, controls and overall story. Being mostly a first-person horror fan (i.e. Doom 3, F.E.A.R.) this was my first crack at a third-person horror game that I’ve played for an extended amount of time. I must say this is a great game, but why Capcom… why did you not try with this port? The controls make it almost impossible to play, and with the same texture detail and scaled-down graphics as the PS2, I have to keep asking myself, why even buy it for the PC at all when you can get it for $10 or $15 at your local GameStop used for your console? If you aren’t familiar with the storyline, you play as Leon Kennedy, a man on a mission to save the U.

Resident Evil 4
4.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jan 9, 2010

Six years have passed since Raccoon City was destroyed and the government has dismantled the Umbrella Corporation from the inside-out. But the terror is not over. Now a U.S. Agent, former Raccoon Police Officer Leon Kennedy has been dispatched on a mission to Europe to save the Presidents daughter from a "crazed organization" that bares a striking behavioral resemblance to creatures found in the Arklay Mountains. Is there a connection between these foes and the horrible nightmares from the past? Discover the answer for yourself in Resident Evil 4. Wii Version Capcom has decided to re-release Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo Wii. The Wii version borrows from both the Gamecube and the PS2 versions of the game. The game has the Gamecubes superior graphics, as well as the extra content found in the PS2 version (that means the Ada Wong missions are included). This version is meant to be the ... PROS: (1) Excellent graphics (2) Available on three systems (Wii, GNC, PS2) (3) Amazing atmosphere (4) Lengthy campaign (5) Excellent boss battles ... CONS: (1) Inability to strafe (2) Movement controls are akward

Resident Evil 4 PC
5 Star Review   By member yikez - Mar 25, 2008

Strengths: One of the best games for the PC. Awesome story and gameplay. Graphics were exceptional.

Weakness: No mouse support.

This has got to be one of the best franchises in gaming (Resident Evil). The story follows the adventures of agent Kennedy. He is on a mission to rescue the daughter of the President and penetrate a cult with a deadly weapon. This game has got everything. Adventure, puzzles, and plenty of unlockables. I really enjoyed the Mercenaries game where you go on a rampage. Not for the young ones but an awesome shooter for any adult.

Resident Evil 4 PC
4 Star Review   By member cotebryan - Dec 27, 2007

Strengths: (1) One of the best games of all time, ported to PC for those who do not own consoles (2) The Mod community has created enhanced patches that (when downloaded and installed) improve everything.

Weakness: (1) Original PC port was sloppy and poorly executed, much of the shortcomings have been addressed by the Mod community

The retail release of Resident Evil 4 PC, is actually a pretty big disappointment. Basically, those responsible for porting the game (which is one of the best console games ever) were pretty lazy and just shoe-horned the console version's interface/menus, etc. into a PC executable. They used the PS2 version's models and textures (which were much less detailed than the Gamecube version) to create the PC version. The lack of care is evident in the total lack of mouse support and low res movies. BUT, rabid fans of the game (and there are many) have seen fit to improve upon the original release via patches and mods. Search the internet for "Resident Evil 4 Texture Patch v2.0" to get started in the right direction. Overall, I will still have to rate this game as one of the very best because Resident Evil 4 is the best game around and what was ruined with the PC port has been fixed by the fan community.
