Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight
4 Star Review  GameZone - Jul 11, 2003

MSFS 2004 "A Century of Flight" Is not only entertaining but informative as well. You can learn about many historical flights and actually view small 45-second video clips of both real and rendered video. In addition there is also information about these historical flights right at your fingertips. If that is not enough, jump in the cockpit and experience for yourself what it was like to fly one of these breakthroughs in aviation history. You can choose from the following historical aircraft. 1903 Wright Flyer Curtiss JN-4D "Jenny Vickers F.

5 Star Review   By member mrs66xke - Feb 6, 2007

Strengths: Awesome graphics, really love being able to fly from the teeny airport in the town where i live. Enjoyable for the whole family.

Realistic, with great long play value. I love a game that you can't "beat". This is the first flight sim for me, my uncle is a diehard and recommended i give this one a try, and for the price, im glad i did. It is hard to fly with the keypad, but I wouldnt call that a weakness. I use an Xbox 360 controller to fly and it works great.

4 Star Review   By member wesw406 - Dec 30, 2005

Strengths: Graphics, realism, variety of choices

Weakness: Training in some areas weak and poorly done.

I was very pleased with the realism in the flights to the various places. The airplane controls seemed quite responsive, and I could almost imagine myself flying. My main complaint concerns the lessons. I felt that I was very attentive to the lessons and did as well as I could but the very non positive feed back from the virtual instructors was discouraging. Statements such as "since you seem to be very distracted right now I am going to end this lesson" was one of my big gripes. It seems to me that some research could have been done my the Microsoft engineers as to what kind of feedback would encourage rather than discourage the desired skill development. In a period of about 10 seconds I was told "you are too high, you are too far left, your airspeed is too high", all in a period of about 10 seconds followed by well since you seem to be very distrscted etc., etc. All in all I would probably buy a similar product again, but I sure feel improvements are in order

5 Star Review   By member morlee2002 - Dec 7, 2005

Strengths: Well organized, easy to use, realistic, expandable

Weakness: Not easy to file in the air

I was very surprised---in my younger days I had several thousand hours of flight experience in the military. Other than not being able to get sensations of forces---the program presents flying experiences as good as any simulator I used in real life---well worth the money---very enjoyable.

4 Star Review   By member thdrought - Nov 16, 2005

Strengths: Good scenery, realistic, a good training aid

Weakness: Crashes my PC a lot

I really enjoy using Microsoft Flight Simulator. Wanting to ventue into becoming a pilot, using this product along with my flight books, I am able to get comfortable with the controls, instruments and procedures on the ground. The only problem I have with the game is that it crashes a lot. I searched Microsoft Support, and their recommendation is to start my PC in a "Safe Mode" environment.

4 Star Review   By member billstrack - Jun 21, 2005

Strengths: Scenery is much improved over the previous versions. Also flight instructions are better.

It seems that the instructions are improved and more detailed. The addition of the newer version of a GPS system is a real plus. It takes more time to learn all the differnt things that can be done but it would seem to be a more realistic set up. I have enjoyed flying the various aircraft.

5 Star Review   By member tshafer - May 4, 2005

Strengths: Awesome graphics and realism. By far the best flight simulator.

Weakness: Requires "somewhat" large operating system for optimum performance. but smaller systems will work ok.

If you want the widest choices in aircraft and actual airports, maps, with the most realistic weather and conditions, than this is a must have!

2 Star Review   By member cauccie - Apr 18, 2005

Strengths: Graphics, realism

Weakness: Crashes

After upgrading from FS2002, I am not as impressed as I had hoped. MS has made the program a little more realistic, but without the latest high-end system, most of the upgrades can not be enjoyed. The program also crashes a lot, even though it is running on WinXP.

5 Star Review   By member psehgal - May 4, 2004

Strengths: Undoubtedly THE Best Flight Simulator "out there" !!!

Weakness: The 747-400 aircraft which was introduced in the 2002 version dropped in this one.

I have been using Microsoft Flight Simulators (among other brands) for a LONG time now, and the Microsoft ones have always been ahead of the other brands. The 2002 version took a great leap in terms of looks and graphics, and this 2004 version takes the product even farther, continuing the tradition. I would highly recommend it for anybody who has a passion for the great "art" of Flying!!!

5 Star Review   By member supertrek1 - Jan 27, 2004

Strengths: Lessons were great and easy to understand. I love all the different aircraft.

Weakness: None that I have found.

This is the first flight simulator I have used and I admit to being a little edgy about flying but found the lessons easy to read. The Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 A Century of Flight has fulfilled a dream of flying for me. I love all the different aircraft and the preset weather conditions. I now spend many fun hours flying.

Strengths: very informative instructions on flying the aircraft.

Weakness: controlling the aircraft with the keypad--very difficult. need joystick to enjoy the flying experience!!

Highly recommended!! Awesome!! the graphics are great!! Looks like you are really flying!! You can fly from or to anywhere you want, you choose!!! Check out different views and scenery!!! But I would recommend purchasing a cool joystick and "off you go into the wild blue yonder"!!

Strengths: Great graphics

A very realistic flight simulator, with superb graphics. As a licensed pilot, I found FS 2004 to be as close as you can get to actually flying! The many choices of aircraft is a great feature as well.
