Silent Hill 2
4 Star Review  GameZone - Dec 26, 2002

OK … this is tough for me to admit. You know, I’m 28 years old, and have always though of myself as being stable and strong minded enough to know what’s real and what’s not real. Zombies for example, aren’t real. Ghosts are somewhat debatable but I have no concrete proof that I’ve ever seen one. Still, I’m here to tell you that nothing fully prepared me for the first time that I ever played Silent Hill for PSX. I mean, who could honestly refrain from being terrified when being chased by deformed nurses and children zombies wielding scalpels? No game to date has ever had me peeking around corners, turning on every light in the house, and having trouble falling asleep like Silent Hill … with Fatal Frame in close second.

Silent Hill 2
4 Star Review  GameSpy - Jan 26, 2003

I'm usually very leery of console-to-PC translations. Video game companies have a bad habit of viewing a PC version of a console game as a one-off. They'll occasionally just dump console code into an emulator, shove the thing in a box and ship it out the door, leaving gamers to deal with lousy console-resolution graphics, poor sound, and crappy gamepad-oriented controls poorly translated to a keyboard. Fortunately, Konami's Silent Hill 2 avoids most of those obvious traps, giving PC gamers a good translation of a great game. If SH2 doesn't fully take advantage of the PC as a platform, what is there is still the game that enthralled PlayStation 2 and Xbox owners. As it turns out, that's actually good enough.
