Stronghold Crusader is one of two...

Strengths: Long campaign trail with 50 scenerios, small historical episode campaigns, scenario creator, variety of units, emcompasses military and economic management

Weakness: Gameplay is really easy or really hard, AI is weak, small playfields, no difficulty setting

Stronghold Crusader is one of two games that make up the Stronghold Series. This game has provided me with countless hours of entertainment. The selection of units is superb, even though they can't be upgraded. This game provides a superb depiction of how a castle has to be run economically and how to defend the castle from attacks. There is just enough micromanagement to make it interesting, but...

The gameplay is far from polished...

Strengths: Launching diseased cattle in catapults. Building/tearing down pretty castles. A fun distraction for Age of Empires II fans.

Weakness: Mechanics of building up your castle estate is stilted. Zoom levels are too rigid -- you're either too up close to manage combat, or you're zoomed out too far and can't see any details.

The gameplay is far from polished ... games just play choppy, easily won or easily lost, with no sense of longevity like a good game of Warcraft III or Age of Empire/Mythology offers. Destroying the CPU is fun though.

A better game on paper that in real life. It sounds fun as heck when you read the unit descriptions, but the actual gameplay just falls a little flat.

Set in the distant Arabian Desert, this title combines the aspects of a city builder and a RTS game. Lead a determined group of crusaders, forged by centuries of barbaric conflicts, or wage war against a powerful foreign invader amidst the haze of the desert heat. In short, build a...

Stronghold Crusader

It's a bit too simple to flatly say that Stronghold: Crusader is better than the original or those who enjoyed Stronghold will love the sequel. This standalone mini-sequel to last year's hit is crammed with additional game options, and may actually convert those who didn't like the original due to its limited variety and puzzle-like scenarios.
