Need for Speed Underground 2
4.5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 23, 2004

It all started with a movie called: The Fast and the Furious, and since that time, it seems like the “underground” racing scene has exploded. There have been many different movies, TV programs, and video games based off this sport, and there seems to be no stopping it. Last year EA redid their Need for Speed franchise and modeled it after this racing scene, and while it was good, there was a lot of areas that needed improvement. This year they have released Need For Speed Underground 2 and it improves on every single area of the first game! If you love racing games then you must own this game, it is that simple.

Need for Speed Underground 2
4.5 Star Review  GameSpy - Nov 17, 2004

EA's second release in the subgenre in just over two months is another solid entry, even if it's not quite as polished as its predecessor. This may disappoint some fans of last year's best-selling title, initially. But gamers who give Need for Speed Underground 2 a solid chance will once again be entranced. As before, the game performs where it counts; yes, racing in Need for Speed Underground 2 feels excellent.

Need for Speed 2: Worthwhile
4 Star Review   By member John0394 - Mar 16, 2006

Strengths: Bottom line: simply fun to play; sound effects; extensive car customization; graphics

Weakness: Load time; limited to night driving; unrealistic damage from accidents.

I base many of my ratings on "value." In this case, I paid $5 for this game and, with this in mind, judge it to be in the 4 out of 5 stars range. However, clearly not a $20+ game. This explains my "worthwhile" comment in the title. Bottom line: great game for the right price. If you're looking for an arcade racing game, give it a try. If you want a more traditional racing game, look at the NASCAR series.

4 Star Review   By member narcah - Jan 23, 2006

Strengths: Great gameplay. Easy mode is actually easy. Plays on low end video cards (ie, gforce 4 mx 440.)

This is a great game for those that like Fast and the Furious style movies. It mostly focus's on normal compact cars (civic, focus, wrx, etc) although it does have some decent cars (mustang etc.) I'm not sure why they refuse to honor the Camaro by including it, perhaps GM refuses to let them? Overall, its a fun game, I enjoyed it enough to neglect my wife and kid until I'd beat it. I really enjoyed the open ended city, although I wish you could point, click, and be there on the map. Driving back and forth 100 times is kind of annoying.

Need for Speed Underground 2 - Best Game Ever
5 Star Review   By member Cameras and Computers - Oct 8, 2005

Strengths: Excellent graphics, awesome gameplay, nice storyline, long length of gameplay in career mode, freedom in gameplay.

Weakness: Needs a powerful computer to run, very compute intensive. Online gameplay could be better.

This game is possibly the best game ever. I love it. The gameplay is awesome, there is so much freedom in how you can customize the cars, and there are even gameplay modes where you can just drive around and not have to do anything and have complete freedom of the map.

Awesome Game
5 Star Review   By member marksoccer105 - Jul 21, 2005

Strengths: Great maps, awesome cars, good multiplayer, works great with controllers such as the logitech rumblepad series.

Weakness: One feature that could be added would be to allow the use fo the logitech rumblepad as a mouse.

I love this game, career mode is good and you can really make your car look awesome with all the money you earn from races to buy new parts for your car! I highly recommed this game if you like racing games. Runs very smoothly on my system (Athlon 3400+, 1gb ram, Radeon 9500 Pro)

4 Star Review   By member mascabre - Apr 26, 2005

Strengths: Breathtaking graphics, INCREDIBLE SOUNDTRACK (one of the best you'll here short of maybe a GTA game) Great Forcefeedback etc etc. High on the fun factor.

Weakness: Very LAME plot, doesn't perfom as well on nvidia cards as it does ati, Arcade Like driving dynamics.

Review System is as Follows Windows XP Professional SP2 DirectX 9.0c Evga 6800GT 256mb AGP ABIT IC7MAX-3 i875 chipset Intel 3.0E GHZ 1024 MB of Corsair XMS TWINX 3200xl Western Digital 74.0GB SATA Raptor. Sony500GPS 21" CRT Logitech MOMO Racing FF Wheel+Pedals ------------------------------------------- Game runs fairly smooth at 1280x1024 with anti-aliasing and benefits significantly from it. The plot is cartony and although it may have a need for speed ricer croud feel to it. The modeling is probably not very realistic you don't spend a lot of time at 70mph in a 350z in second gear for example. So accuracy and realism is really thrown out the window in lieu of a lot of fun. You can paint your car, place gaudy graphics, and drive around to an awesome soundtrack with unrealistic and rather unforgiving dynamics without the aide of a wheel which should be a top priority for anyone to use this game. The body kits, are limited and trite. I'm very surprised they didn't license some well known Japanese tuners like veilside, topsecret, etc. But under the primace of a complete fantasy world that in no way would prepare you to do anything like this in the real world, the game is a blast. The graphics are great, and a wonder to behold on my monitor and even more fun on a projector. The music is the best part, and I could of done without the cyber-sylicone of brooke burk, but hey you can't have it all. So if you want realism go play GT4 on your ps2, but if your looking to enter the fantasy world of ricer-racing, then this is definitely a ticket, and I gladly paid for it :) VRROOMVROOMMUDDA***** rating 84% Mascabre

Strengths: A lot of cool cars to choose from. The setting is very realistic.

Weakness: I've experienced some glitches in the game.

This game is pretty good. The setting is very realistic. I was expecting a lot more out of this game before I bought it. I've experienced some glitches in the screen. I went on the manufacturers website and it's quit common with this game. I'm still trying to work out this problem. Everything else is satisfactory.
