The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
3.5 Star Review  GameZone - Nov 4, 2002

OK … I will admit it … I never read the Lord of the Rings series by Tolkien until AFTER I saw the Fellowship of the Ring in the theater. It’s not that I didn’t want to, I just never did, and after seeing the masterpiece that Peter Jackson produced for the big screen, I just had to not only read the first part for the story over again, but also had to keep reading because now I HAD to find out what happened next. Lord of the Rings for PC was a neat game to play through, and it separates itself from the recent EA Lord of the Rings release by staying true to the novel rather than the big screen adaptation.

2 Star Review  GameSpy - Nov 3, 2002

At first glance, Vivendi Universal's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring for the PC looks like it might just be the game to deliver on the great promise of bringing Tolkien's classic epic to the simulated realm. If nothing else, it seems a far cry from the terribly produced Game Boy Advance RPG adaptation. Passively eavesdropping on Gandalf and Frodo as they quietly conspire to save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron at the start of this action-adventure game, most fans of the saga will likely share the sort of giddy anticipation I felt upon first glimpsing Frodo's well-rendered quarters at Bag End.

I really don't remember Frodo pushing blocks around.

3 Star Review   By member chriseross - Nov 30, 2002

Strengths: The graphics are nice and the plot is fun from a roleplaying perspective.

Weakness: The individual quests and bosses are not very difficult to beat, and the game itself is too short (approx 16 hrs to beat).

It was fun to play because it was LOTR, but i was disappointed in its ease. I would recommend it for kids, but not for serious gamers.
