Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's book of real-life accounts, BAND OF BROTHERS was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who worked together on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Hanks also directed one episode, featuring his son, Colin Hanks.

I saw this series first run on HBO, and had to buy it when it hit DVD. I'm not a big war movie fan, but have actually played the entire series for several friends and relatives, and enjoyed it every time. A beautiful series
Strengths: Special effects are like Saving Private Ryan, so thew action is intense. Dialog is rich, and is true to the names and events of Easy company.
Weakness: Absolutely none.
From training till reaching Hitler's Eagle Nest, this series acts out what Easy company endured through WW2 accurately, while using amazing special effects to dramatize the battle sequences. Simply amazing, and worth every penny to own this amazing DVD set. Buy it!
