Description
Directed by Sidney Lumet, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is the definitive adaptation of Agatha Christie's classic mystery, which finds fastidious detective Hercule Poirot (Albert Finney) investigating the murder of an unsavory millionaire among the passengers of a luxury train. This stylish thriller crackles with witty dialogue, moody period-piece atmosphere, and superb performances from an all-star ensemble cast that includes Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, and Ingrid Bergman (who won an Academy Award for her role).

Ludicrous nonsense. Somehow manages to be even stupider than the book it's based on.
Great cast. great cinematography, and great production and all, but I was really let down. In one of the featurettes in the special feature, Director Sidney Lumet says the movie was "perfect for the times." Well, given that we're talking about the decade of sappy endings and schlocky music scores in film, I have to agree. Probably the biggest letdown comes after a very majestic train station...
Another one of the "load it up with big name actors" films that were cranked out around the time of the disaster epics. Hollywood was trying to get people back to the theaters at the time and here is a good reason why the plan was less than successful. I enjoy murder mysteries and this barely qualfies. Nice visuals though.
Great ambience and a stellar ensemble.
One of the worst placements of a movie I have come across on RateItAll. This is a fine movie with NO action. I wouldn't even call it thrilling. I like the old fashioned detective movies (Sherlock Holmes). Great cast and acting. An enjoyable film worth seeing at least once.
