A Not-So-Silent "Silent" Wheel

This product is only silent for about a month. However, I would recommend this product to you because most of the other wheels SQUEAK, this one just makes a odd sound. One of my first wheels sounded like my houses' smoke alarm, and we only realized that it was the wheel after we took the batteries out of every single smoke alarm in the house. (Our smoke alarms malfuntion a ton.) ? SpyHammie ?

Chinchilla broke it

I bought this wheel for my chinchilla and it broke after a few weeks. The plastic on the back of the wheel where it connects to the metal snapped. My chinchilla does have an extremely large bottom and had been sitting on top of it on a nightly basis so that's part of the reason, but I have yet to find a wheel that will hold up to his weight besides the silent spinner which I also am not too fond...

I wouldn't recommend this one for a larger animal though. Of the ones I got him this one broke the fastest.

Exceptional

My sugar gliders used to have a Wodent Wheel but it was just so noisy! This is truly silent except for a pshhh noise but you cant really hear it from another room:) Its pretty expensive but it really is the only option. You cant have an open backed wheel because of the sugars tails.

Why no 8"/9" size?

I first purchased the 6.5 size but it wasn't quite big enough for my Syrian hamster. But I love these wheels so much - they're quiet, are smooth plastic so they're comfortable for her feet, and I think they look nicer in the cage than metal wheels do - so I had to buy another Silent Spinner, even though the only bigger size is 12. I first purchased the 6.5 size but it wasn't quite big enough for my Syrian hamster. But I love these wheels so much - they're quiet, are smooth plastic so they're comfortable for her feet, and I think they look nicer in the cage than metal wheels do - so I had to buy another Silent Spinner, even though the only bigger size is 12. My hamster lives in a 10 gallon aquarium and a storage container, and the 12 wheel is taller than both (with the stand it's about 14 high). She can climb up the back of the wheel and get out of the storage container, so I had to custom make a top for it, but she loves this wheel so much it was worth it. She was so happy to have a bigger wheel that when I first put it in the container for her she spent all evening running in it, and was still running when I went to bed! I'm rating 4 instead of 5 because there's no size in between 6.5 and 12 and because the design of the stand and back of the wheel is climbable. Also, the wheels tend to move around in the cage a little as my hamster is running in them, and with the 6.5 wheel the back of it was always knocking against the aquarium glass, but a bubble of tape silenced that problem.

excellent buy... but WHERE are the 12" wheels?

CON: my only con, is I have the 6.5 wheel & i cannot find the 12 wheel?! -->my Syrian is growing big! she needs an 8 wheel minimum, but with my experience with this silent spinner- NO WAY WOULD I EVER CHANGE!! :) I'm on the hunt for a 12 silent spinner. that is my only downside. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this wheel! if it gets squeaky- put some cooking oil on it! it hasn't happened to me, so i guess i cant say that will help for sure- but with my experience, even if it breaks down- I'd probably just buy the exact same thing in a different color!
