Even if one could get used to the water gurgling (even after rendering the annoying spraybar inoperable) you would surely want to pull your hair out over the noise not unlike some kind of marble grinding machine. Worst filter I've ever owned in the 40 plus years in the fish keeping hobby.

Emperor 400
Had this filter for around 10 days so far. The pump can become very noisy after restarting from a powered down state. After priming the pump, I've had to reseat the intake tube multiple times to quiet the pump, after multiple attempts it will become near silent. Other than that I am pretty pleased with the pump. Marineland 400
Sportfans... I raise numbered plecos which are wild caught in South America. They love the water flow of this filter and just sit under the output zone and yes "smile". Bio Wheel filters are a excellent addition to any aquariumist who want excellent filteration and the "400" is a tremendous value at this price!!

400 Emperor great filter
I wanted a top of the line HOB filter with a bio wheel & i got it with the emperor 400, great buy well worth the $ ... I love the sprayer bar 4 the bio wheel it's adjustable to make the bio wheels turn faster or slower i got it cranked up & for a bio wheel that thing hums

works as expected
the product is up and running with only one issue- the impeller is making excessive noise. Marineland is mailing me out a new one.
