not very effective
These shears are good for minimal thinning, but not at all for mat removal. You would be better off buying the curved blade mat removal tool.

Wouldnt cut a wet piece of paper
I am actually shocked at how bad these are. I tried to use them on my shih-tzu's coat and the scissors didnt cut ANY hair, they were completely useless. Returning them.
