Tek4 5 pc Combo Kit
5 Star Review   By mmm01 on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

This is an excellent set and the value for the money is amazing. I bought 3, one for me and my two sons as gifts. The size and life of the batteries are fantastic. I am especially impressed with the mobile power device and the LED flash light - I have used both extensively. I am waiting for the summer to use the headphones, but I have worn them to check them out. They fit very well and are very comfortable. I am excited that I will be able to use these and not my Bose when I am working hard in the yard. The size and feel of the screwdriver and the snips is perfect for the jobs around the house. It is great that the kit comes with 2 batteries, but I do wish the kit contained the dual charger. I will probably buy one soon. In summary, this is a great kit with a great set of tools at a fantastic price.

Tech4 5 pc Combo Kit
5 Star Review   By Quent on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

I have found the combo kit componets to be all and possible more than they were advertised to be I have also added the laser level to the kit it is the best I have used or seen the fines are clear but narrow allowing you to be more accurate when using it. Both the kit and the laser level are well worth the price.

Good for $50
4 Star Review   By Dphn11 on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

When I got this set for $49 online, I jumped on it - it looked like a good set, and for half price I was expecting an excellent value. The biggest disappointment was in the screwdriver - I wasn't expecting a powerful beast at 4V, but this can barely handle 1/2" screws with a predrilled pilot hole. The instances where I'll choose this over my 18V Milwaukee will be very few and far between. The biggest asset to the set is the hearing protection. Even without power you get standard hearing protection. Add a charged battery and you can hear what's going on around you clear as day. Even with an mp3 player plugged in, it's possible to have a conversation, assuming your music itself isn't too loud, and outside audio cuts out when power tools come on, so it's still effective hearing protection. The charger will come in handy as well on occasion and the flashlight is actually too bright for working in a small space but great for looking for a lost toy in the grass in the dark.

Ryobi Tek4 5 pc. Combo Kit
4 Star Review   By Berzerker on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

Very useful combination. The screwdriver works well for small household chores. The batteries hold a charge well for several weeks. I have not tried the headphones or the snips yet. The flashlight is very bright for its small size. What surprised me the most was how much I would use the "Mobile Power" device. My cell phone battery does not hold a charge for a full day of service. The Mobile Power device comes with many connectors including the micro usb that my cell phone requires. This allows me to easily charge my phone and make it through the day until I can recharge my phone on its charger. I highly recommend this combination for light work around the house and for the "Mobile Power" device.

Pretty awesome kit
5 Star Review   By EEric on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

Finally a kit that everyone can use. My daughters love the cutters, when doing the recycling, cutting the cardboard and plastics. The drill/screw gun is just right for those little jobs and again, my daughters love this on over mt Ryobi 18 gun. The headphones/ear protection are great while working on my tractor. They don't need the battery to protect and listen to your music. I wish it had a radio because I'm a radio guy. The flashlight and power source I haven't used yet. Great job Ryobi. Another great value with high quality tools. Thanks.

5 Star Review   By DaleI on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

This kit is a great value and consists of high quality, very useful tools. The headphones are top notch not only for great sound protection but you can plug an mp3 player into them. The driver and the snips are great for the day-to-day tasks. The flash light is solid as a rock and VERY bright and the cherry on top is the charger. Great for on the road to charge a cell phone or mp3 player. This is good stuff!

The headphones are worth the price!
5 Star Review   By Gill on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

Fist let me say two things. 1) I bought this set on sale; 2) I liked it so much that when it went back on sale I bought another set. The headphones are the most valuable item to me. They muffle all sound but then have a microphone / speaker arrangement to pick up and transmit all sounds in the non damaging hearing range; and you can turn the volume up or off. You will be impressed. If you are curious how this would sound, go to the store and ask for a demo. I love them. Flash light is EXCELLENT. Supper strong long distance beam. Battery pack does not fit my Samsung phone. Clippers are OK but I don't know what to do with them. Drill is equal to any $35 - $50 smaller utility ones I own.

Good deal if you need it
4 Star Review   By hgfargo on Home Depot - Mar 6, 2010

Paid $50. Happy with combo. Drill is good for light duty, for wood screws under 2 inches. Nice size. Big drill adjustments. Quick connect only. Needs bits. Snips have small jaws, limiting thickness of materials. Fine for plastics. Headphones good suppressing continuous noise, less for impact noise. Flashlight is great. Fits in pocket. Bight, narrow beam. Better than my large 18-volt light. Mobile power unit quickly recharged my cellphone with power to spare. Seven adapters cover many devices. Would be good for campers and hikers, assuming there are cell towers out there. Two batteries, decent power and life. Recharge quicker than most. Charger analyzes battery status.

Couldn't be more impressed
5 Star Review   By HeartofTexas on Home Depot - Mar 5, 2010

I have recently found the Ryobi Tek4 system and have been very impressed. Great products with even better run time. The flashlight is my favorite tool. 6 hours of run time and very durable. Its also very powerful for its small size, outshining some of my bigger lights. The best part comes down to my savings on other batteries. Around the ranch, I used to run through batteries all the time. Now I have something that is rechargeable, without the size of a Q beam. Have also been impressed with the other tools. The headphones are something you can find uses for. Portable power source is handy when you forget a charger somewhere. Snips and Screwdriver are small, but handy for certain tasks. Get this kit while you can!

Tek4 Combo
5 Star Review   By tlarsen12 on Home Depot - Mar 1, 2010

This is an excellent value for the diversity of tools you get. If you can get this set at $50 as I did you can save a great deal. Just buying the headphones alone would cost you $70. The headphones themselves would be worth the money. They do an excellent job of keeping the noise out and letting in the appropriate noises. If you are like me and find yourself shouting at everyone around you when you have ear protection on, these are for you. As for the rest of the tools, if you go in realizing they are not meant to be equivalent to 18v tools, they are excellent. The drill has all the features of a full sized drill and the clippers work wonderfully. I am planning on keeping my eye on these again to buy for Christmas presents next year.

Kek 4 Kit -
4 Star Review   By Blasto on Home Depot - Feb 25, 2010

I have been interested in the Tek 4 sereis since it came out and this kit is so affordable I couldn't pass it up. The Headphones alone are worth the price. The only problem I have is that the ear cups are a little small and mash my ears. The Light is amazingly bright, the screwgun fits in my tool bag for quick repairs and does fine. I haven't used the power supply but with so many adapters, I am sure to soon. with 2 batteries there is always one ready to go.

Ryobi Tek4 5 pc Combo Kit
5 Star Review   By VBDoItYourselfer on Home Depot - Feb 22, 2010

Purchased mainly for the headphones, but very pleased with all the products. Drill/Driver is stronger than your typical driver that I would use around the house, cutters are very useful in opening tough packaging, flashlight is extremely strong, and the charger is a nice feature. Overall impressive set of tools for $49

A great value for the combo kit, but....
4 Star Review   By thenrys on Home Depot - Feb 21, 2010

Bought this mainly for the power source, which is awesome. Perfect for long flights where you are worrried about your MP3 player running out, or where you want to watch extended videos on the plane. Works fantastic and got about 7+ hours of video on a recent overseas flight. Flashlight is OK, driver is OK - not as good as the separate 4V Li-Ion model - its liighter and a bit more compact. Snips actually surprised me - they are very helpful when opening those annoying plastic packages that you risk opening a vein when opening with a knife. The heaphones appear to work very well - haven't really trst driven them yet. Biggest issue is that other Tek4 tools are just too expensive to be practical. A $150 digital camera ? I can buy two for that and throw one away when it breaks. Same with the multimeter and IR THermometer. Overall I'm very pleased wiht what I bought, but I struggle to justify any more Tek 4 purchases.

4 Star Review   By JRC84 on Home Depot - Feb 20, 2010

Great lightweight tools.
5 Star Review   By ehmacon on Home Depot - Feb 17, 2010

I dislike the idea of different voltage tools, now the headache of more batteries and chargers to keep up with. However at the reduced priced I had to give it a try. The flashlight is very bright for its size and fits easily in a drawer or tool box. The drill, although not comparable to my One+ is great for small around the house chores and a lot less heavy and bulky so smaller hands won't have a problem. The snips tear right through that hard clear plastic packaging everybody seems to be using. That alone makes them worthwhile. The headphones work very well at noise suppression, and my MP3 sounds very good with them. I haven't had a chance to check out the Mobile Power module so I can't comment on it. Overall I am extremely satisfied with it, now if they would just lower the price on the multi-meter and thermometer.

3 Star Review   By njob on Home Depot - Feb 16, 2010

my main reason for getting this set was because of the hearing protector. alone, it was about 70 bucks so when i saw this set at 49 but with the other stuff, i thought it was a deal and didnt hesitate to pick one up. going through one tool at a time... -the hearing protector, not bad so far but im still waiting to see how it fares against a gunshot. -the flashlight, suprisingly bright. -the screwdriver.....JUNK! no power whatsoever in this thing.im going back to my old ryobi which is also 4v but so much more reliable and powerful. -the power scissors, very nice but light duty. great for home use. -the charger...havent really used it yet but seems handy to have for emergencies.

Amazing bargain.
5 Star Review   By ychromosome on Home Depot - Feb 13, 2010

Usually these kits go for around a hundred dollars, and I was amazed to find it at Home Depot on closeout for half that amount. It's a good bargain at the normal price, but for just fifty dollars it was absolutely insane. I bought this kit mainly for the cordless screwdriver. In use, it's powerful and long-lasting. It has two speeds, multiple torque settings, and uses common hex-shanked bits. Don't plan on the LED light on the screwdriver being useful, because it isn't. It only shines when the bit is in motion, so you still have to fumble around, trying to mate the bit with the screw in the dark. Not such an issue with phillips bits, but it would be really handy to see which direction the slot in a regular fastener is pointing so I could mate it up before the bit begins to spin! The flashlight is surprisingly powerful, almost as strong a beam as my 3 D-cell Maglight with the 3 watt LED kit. I see it's only rated at 1 watt, so I'm at a loss to explain how bright it really is. The noise-cancelling headphones work very well. You can hear normal conversation through the built-in microphones, but they block painfully loud sounds. Or you can pipe in your own music through the 1/8" stereo plug. GREAT idea. I think they'd be too hot and heavy to wear while pushing a lawnmower in the summer, though. The power station works with my Motorola Q smartphone and at least some iPods. It charges my mini, nano, and 5.5G iPod without issue, but I haven't tried it on my partner's 3G iPhone yet. I have not tried the scissors yet, and I probably won't for a while. I can't see what they'd be good for except for opening clamshell packaging, I don't (and come to think of it, nobody I know does...) cut a lot of canvas or other cloth material, so the usefulness of the scissors is very limited. The charger that comes with the kit is NOT the fast charger, but the standard one-hole charger that is included will charge the battery in about six hours. Not too shabby, as long as you have several to swap out. Bottom line - the kit is a good value, and you can feel comfortable spending $100 on it. If you can find it for $50 on closeout, don't hesitate!

Does what you need, and then some.
5 Star Review   By clbatesy on Home Depot - Feb 10, 2010

I bought two Tek4 5 pc. Combo Kits for myself so I would have a set I could keep at home and a set I could use at work. I have hearing loss that requires hearing aids, so I am very careful about wearing my earmuffs every time. Often, that requires that I wear them nearly all day, and sometimes into the night. Well, I also enjoy listening to the radio, which I can't do with earmuffs on all day. You owe it to yourself to be able to get what joy you can out of your day, so the earmuffs and a radio / MP3 player are a must. The flashlight is so bright, it is blinding if you shine it in your eyes accidentally. Kind of dim to do that, but it's a great quality for a flashlight to have - being bright that is. I haven't used the other items much yet, but I'm sure I will once it warms up outdoors. I've been a fan of the Ryobi's OnePlus system for years, now I'm also a fan of the Tek4 system. Enjoy!

Good Product and Good Price
5 Star Review   By DIYonly on Home Depot - Feb 9, 2010

I just ordered it online and I was surprised the price went down to $49. Once I got it I put it to work. I used the drill to do some work in the attic and outside the house. It wasn't the most powerful drill but for installing outlets and mounting screws, it has plently of juice. The light came very handy too while I was in the attic. The earpiece works really great. It knocks down all the noise around you, literally! I even used it in an indoor shooting range and it's very quiet. Overall I think it's a good buy, I just hope it last a long time.

Proved my wife wrong!
5 Star Review   By HomeDepositer on Home Depot - Feb 9, 2010

When my wife saw what I had ordered she immediately questioned why I needed another flashlight, another screw driver, and some funny looking scissors (she did not question the portable mobil device power as we are attached to our phones). Much to her dismay I used every item (except the flashlight) on my first day of ownership. The scissors were used to cut open a box instead of using my box cutter. I had no fear of scratching or cutting the contents inside of the box. The screwdriver, although a bit shy on power, was very handy when needing to work in a tight spot on a small project. Needless to say, my wife is now looking for reasons to use "our" new tools (she thinks they are cute because they are small). I'm uncertain if I will invest into any of the other TECH tools, but I love the ones I have.

Tek4 Combo Pack
4 Star Review   By Jester66 on Home Depot - Feb 8, 2010

I like Ryobi small power tools as they are nicely balanced and easy to use. The battery life in the Tek4 range is very good and the fact that this combo kit came with two batteries is an excellent deal for the price offered at Home Depot. The screwdiver is great with plenty of torque available, the snips make easy opening of that horrible blister packaging, the flashlight gives excellent bright illumination, the headphones are comfortable to wear although I havent had chance to use them in a good environment as yet and I'm sure I will find a use for the power pack at some point in time. Great Deal!! Would recommend without hesitation.

5 Star Review   By him001 on Home Depot - Feb 8, 2010

Scissors: Easily cut through thin carpet for a project I was doing. Powerful and easy to control. Light: Impressive lighting for a small light. Drill: Powerful enough to drill screws in plywood (only for small jobs). Fits nicely in the hand. Hearing protection: Not yet tested. Battery Charger is included.

Excellent Value
4 Star Review   By Hankm on Home Depot - Feb 8, 2010

Extremely happy with the purchase. First, all the B&M HDs are sold out of this in my area, so I purchased it from HD website. The screw gun works very well for typical screwdriver applications around the home and the lightweight gun is a great option for my spouse who calls it a drill! The cutting tool, is more powerful than expected and goes through tough to open blister packs like a knife through warm butter. I have used the portable power station to charge two different cell phones and the flashlight is quite bright. The headphones are the real deal. They are comfortable and allow you to drown out most of the noise around the job, while still playing my ipod's songs at a nice low level. With the two batteries and the charger, this is a great starter pack for those who may be interested in some of the other TEK4 tools. I believe you will find many uses for the tools in this set.

Tek4 5 pc. Combo Kit
5 Star Review   By Howard76 on Home Depot - Feb 7, 2010

Purchased for the Smart Headphones, to be used with lawnmower, and general around the house work. They work excellent, and protect my hearing and my families hearing when operating noisey gardening equipment. The screw driver and snips are used by my wife who uses them often. The convieince of the rechargeable battery saves money, the cordless tools are easy to use. With the online special it is an excellent value for the dollar. CONS: the charger unit does not have connections for all devices, but will accomodate most devices.

As a professional who wanted a lightweight drill and tools this a great little kit. The drill, headphones, power supply and shears all work great. I have purchased 4 sets for my partner and myself. I never leave home without the flashlight in my pocket. Batteries last long for their small size. Great drill for light cabinet work, overhead work, electrical old work boxes, receptacle and outlet installation. Will not strip screws with torque adjustments. Great for tight locations and small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. Will even fit in your ladies purse if you dare to try. Saying that it is a great set for the young person with proper supervision.,

Great set at unbeatable price
5 Star Review   By coolbreezewt on Home Depot - Feb 7, 2010

You can beat the price on this set especially when individual pieces + battery and charger cost close to the price of this set already (more in the case of the headset). For the price and size, I did not expect the driver to be powerful but it is good enough for around the house use and has replaced the screwdrivers in our drawer. The LED on it is great and should become standard on all drills soon. The snip is great and strong enough to cut through thick cardboard and plastics. Flashlight is super bright. Charger will charge my phone daily for almost a week. The headset works great and I really like the microphone feature to let you hear conversation and still blocks out loud noises. And like the other reviewers said, this headset alone is priced at $69 on the shelf at HD. All in all, I highly recommend this set to anyone.

Nice tools
2 Star Review   By DJBeaverton on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I Have only used the screw driver and flashlight so far. They worked as advertised. The flashlight is very bright. I would have given a 5 star rating except that one of the batteries will not work on 3 of the tools so I am taking it back tomorrow. It would have been nice to have a case. Other than that its a nice little kit.

Tek4 5 pc Combo Kit
5 Star Review   By George47 on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

An excellent value at $50. The batteries last a long time and the little flashlight is powerful. The drill is lightweight and good for small jobs. The scissors are great for cutting those tough plastic packages. I haven't had a chance to use the headphones or charger, but I'm sure they will work fine. I would buy a second kit, but don't want to pay the extra $10 for shipping. When I bought this kit, it shipped free.

A Great tool set
5 Star Review   By DDW50 on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

The shears are great-lots of battery time and they work like a charm. The flashlight has a bright beam and the power unit is handy with all the adapters for cell phone chargers. The screwdriver works OK but lacks power - but - it's a screwdriver-not a drill. I put together a chair and it worked like a charm and tightened everything just fine. All in all-a great set that will be handy around the house.

Great Combo kit!!!
5 Star Review   By Usaf1541 on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I am a huge fan on the Ryobi tool power tool series. I bought this set and everything is great and it is a great addition to any person's tool set. The flashlight is great and extremely bright. I love the headset because it has so many uses from using at the gun range to cutting down a tree outside. I hooked up my iphone to it and listened to music while I cut down a tree in my front yard. Could barely hear the chainsaw.

good buy
5 Star Review   Home Depot

This set is a great buy for the money. I agree with most of the other reviews. Drill/driver is okay-fine for around the house.Cutters are pretty good for milder material. Flashlight is impressive. Muffs are a great bargain in this set-the thing I use most. The portable power unit is also extremely handy to have -just in case.

great system starter
5 Star Review   By dlcat on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I used the Tek4 5 Combo kit, within, 1 day of buying it used the cutters, to cut and fit over 12 yards of carpet. glad to have 2 batteries , always keep one on charger. Next day used the power screwdriver to remove 3 cabinets from wall, unit was powerful enough, didn't need to use the heavy 18 volt. also a Ryobi with ni-cad battery. Used that to install the cabinets to wall and used the Tek4 to reove and reinstall all the doors. 2 days later and I was using the earphone as my son-in law cut firewood. quiet and nice for once and you can hear voices fine. finished out the week by buying 3 more sets online for birthday gifts. great wish there will be more of the tools. wish they all had the keeper on the end caps . set one down and forgot where, getting old like most but still use tools a lot.

Tek4 5 pc. Combo Kit
4 Star Review   Home Depot

I considered this tool kit an excellent value. I have tried the headphones and consider them a very high quality unit that will do a very good job of protecting my hearing. The flashlight has a very strong beam and works easily. The screwdriver is a nice compact unit that should work well for screw driving, albeit not a heavy unit. The power unit does not have an adapter that fits my current cell phone, in writing to Ryobi, they tell me that they are working on a possible added adapter with no specifics. A negative for me. The interchangable battery is a strong point. I have the thermo sensing unit which uses the same battery. I am also hopping to buy the theft sensing unit at some time in the future. This will provide another unit with the same interchagable battery.

Good set with one downfall...
3 Star Review   By Techprincesse on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I have used everything in the set except for the electric scissors and headphones. The flashlight is very bright and lasts long, The auxiliary charger is very handy to have, not only something to keep in your car but to keep on hand in case of a power outage to keep cell phones charged. My only disappointment comes with the electric screwdriver. It holds a strong charge, yes, but it doesnt have variable speed. I used it to try and hang some curtain rods at first and the screwdriver goes so fast it stripped quite a bit of screws before I was done. It would have been so much better if the speed varied according to how hard you pressed the button like most drills. Other then that I will probably keep the entire kit. The electric scissors will come in handy for a vinyl install I have to do in my kitchen next month.

Tek 4
4 Star Review   By texasdee on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

This bundled set is a steal for this price, the headphone muffs are $69 . They work well and feel good. The flashlight , though small in size is extremely bright and has lasting power. Have not used the shears yet , but drill , screw driver is not quite what I expected, but gets the job done. The extra power supply is also went unuse as of yet , but if is as good as other pieces should be a great piece. The charger is compact ,but easy to use and charges good. Battery size is small ,but powerful. Overall the combo is a good useable choice.

Versatile system
5 Star Review   By sleepyCoder on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I mainly bought this for the electric screwdriver and noise canceling headphones. The driver works as expected, and is nice and compact. The headphones do a good job of sealing out sound. The universal charger thing comes in handy for charging your cell phone or iPod when traveling and you didn't bring all your other chargers. The LED flashlight is fairly bright and compact, so it's a nice little extra as well. I even found the electric scissors pretty handy for rough cutting long sheets of window film or paper. I think the tools are a good value just for the driver and headphones, the other items are just a bonus.

Great Deal for me !
5 Star Review   By jetmanjeff on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I do maintenance work and the drill is just the right size for taling apart appliances dirnking fountains and other items, It fits well into the tool box without draging around an additional drill case, the chuck holds the bits well and they wont fall out, The sheers are much stronger cutting than the last pair i bought and actually cut up a thick plastic laundry basket, flashlight is powerful and handy with the rechargable battery and the 4 volts help the light shine bright, The hearing protection works well even without a battery but with the battery it allows you to talk and listen normally, I even watched some tv with them turned on and cant wait to plug in my i-pod. Yes I tell my friends and hey have bought the set also for the good price of $49.00 its a no brainer,

feels like a toy, light weight. does the job without needing a heavy tool. the flashlight is blinding. can't beat the price considering what you get. i would gove 5 stars if it came with a 3rd battery. i know the standard is 2, but this is such a light set that 3 would be a more ideal number of batteries to have on hand

This is a great kit!
5 Star Review   By AtlHDFan on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

I've been using the Tek4 headphones for some time now when I cut the grass on my lawn tractor. They do an incredible job of cutting out the drone of the engine while still allowing me to hear what's going on around me. I was expecting them to cut the sound level down on everything once the noise level reached a certain point, but that is not the case. Somehow, they reduce the loud noises while still allowing you to hear voices and such. The drill is light weight, but that's usually all I need so it's nice to have something so light and portable for the small jobs. The flashlight works great and the charger is perfect for extending the runtime of my phone and music player. I haven't tried the snips yet. Everything in the kit is better than expected and it's well worth twice the money. You can't go wrong with this.

Great tools for the price, flashlight is bright and lasts a long time, I use it for ambulance work and has been dropped a few times no problems, the drill has plenty of power for the fix ups around the house when you dont want to bring out the big driver, the shears make easy work of cutting up the cardboard boxes when its time for recycling, fast clean cuts havent used headphones or battery charger yet but I dont expect a problem. I liked the flashlight so much I purchased another one to keep in my motorhome when I travel.Would highly recommend product

Great price
5 Star Review   By ToolJunkie1 on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2010

Don't know why I bought this but I have been looking at the headphones for using in the summer mowing the grass. I figured 49.95 was a good deal considering the headphones alone are almost 70.00. Haven't tried the drill yet. Cutters I thought they were kind of pointless but maybe we can find a good use for them they do work though had to try them out on some cadboard. Flashlight is super bright. USB charger probably come in handy was suprised it would charge my phone having a Pre. Would have been nice if it would have came with the quick charger since they want over 30.00 for it oh well maybe it will go on sale soon.

Excellent set for the home
5 Star Review   By Simbi on Home Depot - Feb 4, 2010

I am a contractor and also work on film production. The Tek 4 set for $49 is a true steal. Although the driver is a bit weak, I have absolutely no complaints. This set is perfect for carrying on a film set, due to the lightweight. I was very surprised at the brightness of the flashlight, and of the versatility of the snips. The earphones alone are worth buying the set and work better than much higher priced units. One thing, lubricate the threads for the battery caps with a dry lubricant, as it is easy to cross-thread the plastic. I highly recommend this set especially at this price. This set also makes a perfect gift for nearly anyone.

Great Price
4 Star Review   By TimG on Home Depot - Feb 3, 2010

I have been admiring these tools at the in-store display for a while so when I saw this kit online for $49 I couldn't pass it up. The main reason I wanted the kit was for the screwdriver but unfortunately that is the one piece I am least impressed with. With a fully charged battery it takes everything the driver has to put a small 3/4" screw into solid wood. I am sure it works better with pre-drilled pilot holes but it is definitely for small, low-torque applications. Please note that even though the picture does not show a charger, it does come with a single battery charger.

Surprisingly useful & excellent battery life
5 Star Review   By AmarilloSlim on Home Depot - Jan 27, 2010

I got the driver and snips on impulse when on sale earlier, not so much for me as for my partner. Thought the small size would be handy for small jobs, and the snips were a gamble. Turned out both tools were much more useful than I expected. While a bit of a load, the snips were able to slice thru carpet, making removal much faster. The driver has been used all over the house to more quickly replace electrical components, drive screws, and a couple of drilling jobs. And so far, the batteries have been recharged only once. I don't think they necessarily come fully charged, so take the time to do that first. They shouldn't have 'memory' issues, but I usually run lithiums until they are noticeably fading, no matter the device. One caution on the snips, especially if you have kids or people who are not tool handy: Take the battery out when they are not in use. While there is a safeguard button that prevents operation until it is pushed, as well as the trigger, a child could figure this out quickly, and two most certainly would try it. The snips are powerful and sharp, and they would take a fingertip off in an instant. Be careful when using them, even if you are a tool pro. Your fingers do not belong in front of them under any circumstance.

A good buy, but... the batteries!
4 Star Review   By themosttoolswhenyoudie on Home Depot - Jan 25, 2010

I bought this set for the snips to use while installing vinyl flooring (we bought the trafficmaster allure). The snips work great when we have to "strip" a piece to use, but the shorter cuts are difficult. Overall, they are a great little tool if only the batteries would stay charged a little longer! The headphones I expected to be worthless got a tryout from my niece who has hearing problems. She LOVES to wear them while watching television... says they make the other noises go away. The flashlight is terrific! No complaints there. And, the little drill... well, my husband says it's a toy, and I can't drill a 2 inch screw into a 2x4, but for my litle household tool box, it works fine. Overall, the tools are great, but don't expect the battery life to be all that great for using the snips or the drill.

What a Deal!
5 Star Review   By ToolManWI on Home Depot - Jan 23, 2010

What a collection of tools at a very reasonable price. The drill and cutting tool fit your hand very well. The ear muffs allow for regular hearing while cuttting out loudness. I tried them out on the trap and skeet range. As good or better than ones I pruchased specifically for this purpose. The flashlight is very bright and like the water resistance they offer. Not sure about the power station tool but who knows, some day it may come in handy.

Excellent products
5 Star Review   By HankH on Home Depot - Jan 22, 2010

Bought this recently. Pleasantly surprised to find that the batteries come fully charged. Have tried all of the products and think they are all well made. Drill - Very ergonomic. Not overly powerful but easily handled 2 inch screws into particle board. Snips - Effortlessly cut open blister packs. Flashlight - Much brighter than expected. Charger - Maybe the handiest of all 5 pieces. Use it regularly to charge my BlackBerry and my wife's phone while travelling. It's compact, lightweight and easily charges 2 devices for a week. Head phones - Only used these briefly to ensure they worked. Pretty impressive. Speech came through perfectly clear but loud noises (hitting table with 1x3) was 90% blocked. Paid $49 for the 5 piece kit in RI. The head phones were on the shelf next to the kit and sold for $69 by themselves. Obviously, great bargain at $49. Also purchased the rapid charger for $10. The rapid charger comes with the ability to charge off a USB port as well as a regular 110 outlet. Takes about 1/2 hour to charge 2 batteries. Overall, I am very satisfied with all 5 pieces, especially the mobile charger.

Tek4 5 pc. Combo Kit
4 Star Review   By EricBr on Home Depot - Jan 21, 2010

I ordered this kit primarily for the "Ear Muffs" for using in the shop while woodworking. I had been planning on purchasing the "Ear Muffs" by themselves, but when I saw that the kit was only a few $$ more than the "Ear Muffs" by themselves, I decided to purchase the kit, mainly for the extra battery. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well the "Ear Muffs" work. I generally keep them turned off with my MP3 player plugged into them, but when I need to hear more feedback from the tools (I partially judge router performance by sound), I can turn them on and adjust the volume quickly and easily. With them turned off, you can still tell when the air compressor is running, but it is not so loud that it drowns out the music or makes it difficult/impossible to hear the sound that the particular tool I am using is making. Even with music playing, with the volume turned about 1/2 on, I can hear my phone ring, and hear my wife when she talks to me. The light is surprisingly bright. The snips work very well at cutting paper, thick plastic and the other thin materials that I have tried them on. The USB adapter works great with my MP3 player and my GPS. It now lives in my truck to use for powering/recharging these devices. I have not yet used the driver, so I cannot comment on it, other than it feels pretty solid, and I think, due to its small size, that it will be a useful addition to my other cordless tools. The battery life in the Ear Muffs is really good with the way I use them. I have used them for 5-6 hours per day for 3-4 days without needing to charge it. Eric

Excellent Smaller Multi Tool Set
5 Star Review   By Doitrite on Home Depot - Jan 18, 2010

I have all the big tools but when I saw this cool set I could see it was really well made and had a huge number of usable accessories that all use the same ion lithium batteries. If you want a long lasting set of smaller very usable tools around the house for smaller projects than this is the one to buy. Each item is well made and all use the same battery. Huge assortment of different tools you can add which makes this the best I have seen. The screw driver is great for smaller jobs. It is strong enough for most lighter household jobs. Being small, light weight and powerful makes this a very handy tool . It can get in where most of the larger power screw drivers can't get to or weigh too much to hold up above your head. Installing blinds, ceiling fan installs, light switch plate installs. Good on delicate jobs where a larger prower drill will over tighten. The hearing protectors are well made and you can set them so you can still hear conversations until a loud noise blocks it then go back to hearing again. You can also plug in your MP 3 player/IPod and listen to music while you edge or blow the lawn. Good for the gun range or hunting also. I was surprised how bright the light was on this flashlight. Led light bulbs are great. Way better than my huge 4 D battery Max Light. Small so good for a glove box, purse or just by the bed for emerencies. I love the extra power charger. You can use to power or rechage your ipod, phone or other items. It comes with six different adapaters to fit a lot of different phones, MP-3 players and other electonics. Good for trips or camping where you may not have a plug in to recharge. Just carry this power pack for back up. The shears surprised me by cutting some carpet and ducting I needed to cut. No problem and fast. I went back and bought the fast charger, another flash light and another battery. Love this set and I will be adding some of the other accessories. The new ion batteries hold a charge longer and last 2,000 charges so should last a long time. Others sets I have had thru the years just play out and didn't have all these accessories. I recommend this one.

ryobi tek4 combo kit
4 Star Review   Home Depot

The tek4 combo kit is a pretty good concept for the use of lithium batteries. I don't really know how often I'll use the motorized cutters- although I tested them on the cardboard box the tools came in and it zipped right through it. The thing I like the most is the cell phone battery charger- it is very frustrating for your cell phone to die out on the jobsite... I plugged my phone into the headset and it worked like a charm- there are small microphones in the front of the headset that pick up your voice and you can hear it in the speakers so you don't feel like you need to shout. I called my brother in Atlanta, and he was unable to tell I wasn't talking directly into the phone. The drill is more like a power screwdriver, but it was able to break some 1/4" sheet metal screws out of the side of a furnace, and had enough torque to drive them back in- I wouldn't plan on doing a long day of driving screws with it, but it is a nice compact power screwdriver that could make it into a small service bag for opening electrical and service panels. Overall, I like the tek4 kit- and I'm hoping that Ryobi adds more stuff to the line.

Another great product from Ryobi
5 Star Review   By Madeen2 on Home Depot - Jan 16, 2010

I am a huge fan of most ryobi tools and this little kit has became my favorite. The only reason i got it was for the compact size of the screwdriver it works perfect for tight spaces and little jobs that do not require me to drag my 18 volt drill around. The sheers are a huge surprise i have used the heck out of them they kick butt for those pesky hard plastic packages. The USB charger is another bonus i used drag to have to drag my I-POD up to the house to charge it now i just hook it up and leave it in the shop and i also plan to use it while traveling for phones ,GPS, Etc. The little flash light is extremely bright i have recently glued a magnet to the bottom of makes a great automotive trouble light. I have not used the protective hearing yet.I plan on getting a second kit for my RV and also plan on getting the laser temp. gauge.

Great Value
5 Star Review   By gke565 on Home Depot - Jan 11, 2010

If you are even thinking of getting into the Tek4 line, this is the system to start with. I was looking at the headphones at the store and they listed at $70, so I decided to go this route instead. The headphones are comfortable and do a good job of blocking noise. I’ve used the in-ear plugs, but they are hard to seat correctly and the rubber ones become uncomfortable after a while. These ear protection are easy to put on/off, has a sensitive mic with volume control to allow you to hear voices while blocking loud steady noises, and a MP3 plug (volume from music is controlled by MP3 player). The LED flashlight is bright - almost blinding. I've used the snips for opening plastic packaging w/o much issue, although some packages with high ridges on edges are a little though to get in the small opening of the scissors. I have not used the drill, but it appears adequate as electric screw gun but not fast enough for drilling. The portable charger comes with plenty of tips (including a mini USB to USB adapter) to allow for just about anything to be charged.

Great Concept for a Sytems
5 Star Review   By Photoflight on Home Depot - Jan 11, 2010

I have over a dozen 18V Ryobi tools so when I saw this $99 tool set offer I figured it would be worth a look. Glad I did! To be honest there wasn't any one tool that is in the set that made me buy it. But my experience with the 18V Ryobi tool system has shown me that they usually come up with something you can't do without. The Drill-Driver is plenty torquey for most of the around the house, assembly, picture hanging, etc sort of tasks. Like the feel and build quality too. The Flashlight is something special on it's own. Seriously! I probably have half a dozen different ones most being 3-4 cell Maglites. I'm going to start replacing those with the Tek4 flashlight. With the way an Li batt keeps it's charge it's perfect to keep in the cars. Only wish it had a push button on/off switch. Electric Scissors struck me as being, well unnecessary. But it turns out that it's actually useful to have a tool that cuts through a cardboard box, plastic packaging and fabric like a hot knife through butter. Cuts are far more accurate and it saves me having to break out a utility knife and cutting surface. The Battery Pack power source will come in handy for times when you have to recharge cells phones away from household outlets and cars. Weighs next to nothing and can double as a battery storage case. The noise canceling headphones won't be getting much of a work out. Only need something like these once or twice a month. But it's good to have them when you do need them. Guess they'll just last a long time. Still need to try the MP3 input and see what they sound like. Not that they need to sound like a $250 pair of Sennheisers, but I'd like them to be decent. So for me 3 out of the 5 will be getting a lot of use. The two batteries too of course. I'm going to add the two cell battery charger. (Wish Ryobi had charged a couple of extra bucks and just included that one.) Overall this is a great deal and an excellent way to establish a core set of tools for the Tek4 system. Looking forward to additional tools to expand the Tek4 System.

A great6 package.
5 Star Review   By RONTHEMON on Home Depot - Jan 9, 2010

We bought this to have a handy set of tools around the house, and this is a perfect fit. The headphones are great with my snow blower, and protect hearing very well. The only surprise was that the screwdriver/drill only takes quick change accessories, fine for screwdrivers, but I guess I'll need to buy a few drills with the hex, quick change feaqture. The flashligt is exceptionally bright, with the 1 watt LED, great to keep in the car or night stand.

very impressed with the whole kit. I have used the shears several times especially with opening Christmas presents wrapped in the hard plastic. Haven't had to use the drilll yet. I love the flashlight, it is very bright. The headphones are great especially in a noisy environment, great for carrying on conversations, still have yet to try the mp3 player with it though. Will try that tomorrow, and the power pack is great, have used it several times and works great. Highly recommend the whole kit and plan on buying another kit in a few weeks if this one holds up.

These tools are good for the homeowner or the professional. The drill and screwgun work great for me when I am installing cabinets. The light on the drill and screwgun is also a great feature. I got tired of using my heavy duty 18 volt tools when these little guys do the job with less fatigue when working overhead. The scissors are terrific when opening those pesty plastic impossible to open packaging. The flashlight works great. The headphones work great with my ipod. I use the power module to charge my cell phone. I really love this kit.

Perfect
5 Star Review   By edzspace on Home Depot - Nov 26, 2009

I have bought and returned or thrown away more than a half a dozen small cordless screwdrivers. This one is a keeper. The bits lock in place so the drill bit doesn’t stay stuck in the wood when you pull back the driver. Has enough torque to drive 1 5/8th inch drywall screws and the quick change and quick charge batteries keep you working. Light weight with a little led light makes it perfect for assembling ceiling fans (the main reason I bought it). The power scissors were a freebee that I thought would be useless. Thought wrong, they are great for opening all those things you buy packaged in vacuum formed plastic and if you do any stucco work it’s the only way to cut lathing material without ripping the skin off your fingers. The flashlight is again just the right thing. I have at least 30 different little flashlights most of which are either dead, burnt out or poor switches make you have to beat the thing to turn it on. Not so with this little light. Impressive brightness, very rugged and long life with a battery you can swap with one off the charger makes this my ALL TIME favorite.
